Great game, great for new vr players
Horrible save system, game put me in a soft lock where I endlessly was killed by a security bot and couldn't reasonably escape from it, basically ruined my entire playthrough and couldn't do anything about it.
I kill the robots then I write a guide on how to get Pacifist
I love this game playing it and watching Youtubers play it my favourite Youtuber's played it and they made it super entertaining so I felt like I should get it and it was amazing 100/10 :)
> spawn in
> grab cup
> throw cup
> teleport until your in the vent room
> go into elevator and press button
> die
10/10 would get killed again
My original review of this game was overly negative, and while there are still points that stand, it seems that they were due to a bug not allowing me to access the pause menu? After giving it another go I found the game rather enjoyable. I'm not sure if I'd call it £20 enjoyable, but definitely enjoyable.
I'll list my issues first.
Firstly, an issue I had with the game was not being able to use any movement other than locomotion. I have a smaller VR space so having to use the portal gun to relocate myself when i was a hair out of reach of something was very annoying. However, it turns out that there IS locomotion settings, but they're under the gameplay modifiers menu before you start the game. Both locomotion and turn snapping options are located here, which seems bizarre, I would consider them more to be comfort options than gameplay modifiers but alas.
I had multiple instances with the portal gun where I would shoot a portal, and it would seem to get stuck on an object that didn't seem to qualify to have a portal atop or something, making the portal be delayed, or never show at all. For the most part it was a non issue, as you can cancel portals manually and shoot another one. But there were a few times where I needed out *now* and didn't really have time to try and shoot another.
One of my biggest gripes is that playing on an Oculus doesn't seem to work correctly on the normal game, instead you need to go into the betas and select the Oculus branch, which I had to find out myself by looking it up after not being able to hit anything with the weapons. The only weapons you have in the game also are throw-able sharp objects like knives, darts, scissors, etc. It's a fun idea, but in practice it never felt great to actually throw them. Most of the time I would miss, and the times I did hit the enemy, there's a chance they don't actually die and just keep on, potentially killing you. It felt a little inconsistent.
The enemies also felt a little, barebones? They were very simple. Either stand or patrol. If they see you, or a dead body investigate area. If you're in their line of sight, shoot. Works for the most part. But god help you if you kill an enemy in an open area. They eventually give up after not seeing you for a while, but the body is never marked as something they've seen before. So they just get stuck in a loop of "Investigate around the body" -> "Player not here" -> "Back to normal behavior" -> "See body" -> "Investigate around the body" -> "Repeat". They seem to get a little confused around doors too. Managed to get a couple enemies stuck just on a doorway before.
On the side of positives however, level design is really fun, there are plenty of hiding spots and vents and back routes to sneak your way through the place. Never really considered an office space a good location for a stealth game but after weaving into office stalls to hide behind the dividers from a robot patrolling the isle I can say I'm fully convinced. I love how levels do have some verticality and you have to aim up to get around.
The portal gun is a fun movement gimmick. Similar to the normal teleportation locomotion a lot of vr games have, but this one can go much further, and can be bounced on walls and ceilings to get you to places you wouldn't normally be able to get to. My favourite part about it though is how it doesn't teleport you instantly, instead letting you have a peak around the area you're going to teleport to, letting you use it as not only a movement option, but also an information tool. You can use it as a security camera and monitor guards paths, or use it to have a peek in an area, reading from afar and scanning for key items.
While I had my issues with how open the spaces are, that was unfortunately my own stupidity, as I got turned around while missing notes layed out. When I started paying attention to the notes more the game got much more fun. I loved reading notes and having to remember names and locations, exploring cubicles looking for the right name tags or looking at maps to find the next location. I still think there is a lot of underutilised space in the game, it does make the payoff when you get the right location much more satisfying.
Frankly, the game isn't really something that I would highly recommend that all my friends go out and buy as a must own VR experience, but it isn't bad. It's alright! Has it's moments, generally enjoyable. There are other things I'd recommend before this, but if it catches your interest, I wouldn't turn you away. Just be warned that it's a little janky. And if you can get over that then there *is* something to enjoy here.
Also I love the worker robots they are adorable and if you kill them you are a horrible person.
hitman but vr
winta gyat
the camera men can see through walls
A week ago I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and the doctors have given me a year at best. I'm so glad I was able to play this before I go. I don't know how many people will see this; but I recommend to you to play this game if you do see it. Gameplay, atmosphere, graphics. everything is masterfully crafted. If you read it, thank you and good bye.
One of the best VR games I've ever played!
The ending gave me goosebumps, the stealth is amazing! You get so immersed that even the thought of getting caught is so terrifying!
Had a few bugs, especially in the last level. But it doesn't make experience any worse, nothing critical, only funny bugs
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do, I'm half crazy, all for the love of you. Motherboard... I have failed you!
Budget Cuts is a super exciting stealth-action VR game where you play as a human working for TransCorp, a company where humans have long been replaced by robots. This is how the game begins—with you receiving a call informing you that the higher-ups will be performing a "budget cut" on you, in the most literal sense.
This is by far one of, if not the, most intense VR shooters out there, and that’s why I loved it so much. For all the emotions and sweat it managed to extract from me, the game is an absolute thrill. It plays out like a puzzle chamber with several objectives to complete, and what adds to the complexity is the deadly MurderBots that are always on guard and will turn you into ash in mere seconds.
You operate a portal-like device that helps you navigate tight spots or make quick getaways. The sandbox aspect of the device is nearly insane, with so many creative ways to use it. Your weapons are standard office supplies like pens, darts, and opening knives —or basically anything sharp that you have to manually throw. This adds to the challenge, as timing and accuracy are key one wrong trajectory and you'll find yourself back at the latest checkpoint.
The gore in this game is satisfying, as you see the “life” of a MurderBot fade away as the black fluid pouring out of a freshly made cut. Robots can also get crippled, which impacts their behavior and movement.
My gameplay took the “London Stabbing” approach, where I was stabbing every robot up close and dipping out with the portal gun before other MurderBots could get a clear shot at me.
The final boss is, without a doubt, the highlight of the game. It’s an absolute brainstorm to figure out how to take him down while he constantly chases you and knows your location. I don’t think I’ve exercised this hard in VR for a long time, i had to actually crawl through vents to avoid being spotted and trying to cheese my way through by shooting through the tiniest crevices I could find. It was so intense and honestly terrifying in the best way possible. The sound design of the final boss also adds to the terror factor.
This title is available on most VR headsets, so you’ll definitely find a way to play it even on the Quest 2, where a PC isn’t even required. It, by far, this remains one of the most memorable VR titles I’ve played over the years. I might even put it above Half-Life: Alyx on the intensity scale because some moments genuinely kept me on my toes. The sequel builds on everything this game does and is even better, so I highly recommend checking that out as well.
Thanks for reaching the end of this review since the only Steam reviews that get the most votes are the 2 word shitposts lol. And uh that’s about it. See ya.
10/10 – Due to budget cuts, we had to cut this review in half. Sorry.
me kill robot, me reject transcorp
This game is a lot of fun, one of my favorites. You stealth around an office environment, dodging robots with magnum pistols and throwing letter openers. The teleport movement system is weird at first; you open a portal to where you want to go, so can see where you're going to go before you go there, and you can throw weapons through without actually moving through. Very unique system that becomes second nature quickly. Keep an eye on your real life surroundings during boss fights...I actually ran into a wall playing this game.
this one is up there on the favorite games list. really cool implementation of the controls and movement, great simple story, and i love the way it doesn't baby you through it too much as you progress. the ending credit scene was simple but phenomenal and it gave me chills throughout the whole thing. wish it was a little longer but that why there's a second one!! really great game and i can see myself replaying this a few times in the future.
This is an excellent game! Both 1 and 2 are definitely worth it for people just starting VR, or those who have been playing for a while.
actually terrible it runs so bad even on really good hardware multiple glitches making gameplay impossible wish i would have refunded this mess within the timeframe. theres no excuse for a game with barely any objects and little graphical fidelity to run at 48fps on a 3080 at standard non super sampled resolution.
cut the budgets (but you dont)
I HATE ADAM... But Easy To Trap
this game was so fucking goated as a first VR game back in 2019
i promise anyone willing to buy this dusty, masterpiece of a game that you will not be disappointed
Me love stab bobort
