MacGuffin is a first person adventure and comedy game about stealing a mysterious object, called the MacGuffin. It takes place in an alternative present. You are a thief who's sent to take that object from a Nuclear Power Plant about to explode. You receive instructions on a smartphone.
The game involves hacking computers, resolving quite simple puzzles, discovering the story and accomplishing your mission.

I'm rarely serious when it comes to reviewing games that don't take themselves seriously, but I'm going to make an exception here. Really weird light effects. So weird that the game should have a seizure/flash warning. This could create problems.
This is one of my all time favorite games. I personal don't understand why its one of the all time faves but it is and that's just fine.
i bought this game because i thought it was a McMuffin
After nearly five full playthroughs and a few hours spent looking for secrets, I feel that I probably owe Macguffin a review.
Macguffin is a short walking simulator. You've probably seen other reviews comparing it to Portal or The Stanley Parable, but don't go in expecting anything like either. It's nothing like Portal or The Stanley Parable. If anything, it's a lot more similar to Jazzpunk, just watered down a bunch. That doesn't mean it's just a rip-off or cash grab trying to sell it off as something that pretends to be like a much better game, though. Macguffin on its own is a really entertaining and unique experience. The jokes aren't anything that made me laugh out loud, but that wasn't a big problem for me. The game is super weird, which is something I can never have enough on. There's a lot of secrets for you to discover, granted most of them being very minor things. If you try hard enough, you can break the game in some entertaining ways. For example, I managed to get outside by pushing some chairs against the wall and getting them to fling me up in the air. Just be careful not to fall off.
Now, why have people been giving it negative reviews? Well, I'll tell you that it's 99% because of the game's length. Macguffin is very short. You can beat it in around 30 minutes on average, way less if you're a quick player and don't look around much. I managed to speedrun the thing in like under 10 minutes. That being said, I would honestly argue that every second is completely worth it. I enjoyed the game so much, everything from the absurdism to the vaporwave setting and silly voice acting and sound effects, but I would be lying if I said it didn't leave me wanting for more. If Macguffin ever got a future sequel or remake, I would totally throw my money at it instantly.
But yeah, all in all, I love Macguffin. If the length is a problem for you, or surreal dumb little walking simulators aren't your thing, I'd advise you stay away. Otherwise, totally give this one a go. It's a hell of a good time, and I'll probably be find myself replaying it again soon enough.
(Speaking of which, I hadn't realized until today that the developers also made The Master. Now that I know, I'm actually not that surprised. If you enjoyed this game, you might like that one too. It's a lot more simple, shorter and plain than this game, but it's a good way to spend 10 minutes.)
MacGuffin is a special breed of game.
Being similar to Jazzpunk (Another random walking simulator with various interactive parts) I personally found this game quite enjoyable! MacGuffin is short, I finished it in under an hour, and I spent my time looking at everything. Being short, it also lacks replayability. Despite this, its worth the price. Its short, sweet, and you may get a couple good chuckles out of it.

Interesting game, with lots of tiny details and funny jokes. Definitely a must-buy.
This game runs like absolute garbage, and I know it isn't just my computer. I have bought a new computer and it still ran like I was playing on a potato. 1/10 for graphics.
I liked it. It's an LSD simulator right? Unless this is a normal game and I was really on LSD... What was I doing again?
Asked for a refund. Unplayable, the game keep stuttering when I'm try to move.
The Stanley Parable without the repeated sections and Portal without the clever writing.
MacGuffin looks like a small first person game, but some jokes made me laugh a lot!:) You may complete it quickly (so the price is right) but there exist subtle hidden triggers that include some more gameplay sequences/jokes. I’m sure I’m still missing some of these to trigger even more extra sequences.
Narration is good also, and nice OST.

I don't do reviews. That said, MacGuffin needs some love. I have no clue what the game is a parody of, however it is entertaining as it is. Comparing MacGuffin to games like Portal, is perhaps dumb. My son is a Portal fan, ME I wouldn't buy Portal, although I have played it. MacGuffin is a first-person game, and that's about it (no other similarities to Portal, so don't buy it if you expect it to be Portal-like)...
About the game: Your goal is looking for something called the "MacGuffin", what is it? no clue, (currently) the game freezes before you reach it. The game is short, hence the price is fair. You have to solve a series of a lot of self-explanatory puzzles: press any button you find, pull any level you find, power all PCs you encounter, push away things to move around them... and I am not going to give away more... just read the clues, you should be fine.
What can be done to improve this game? -- Lots! Please fix the beach. Please make it MODable. Achievements, it needs them. More levels, pretty much make more missions: "your mission now is to hack an airport's security system and steal a 30 billion dollar jet while everyone has taken off due to some disaster"... and well, possibilities are endless.
This is a shorter Stanly parable and is funny at times and only lasts (at least for me) around thirty minutes.
Rarely, if ever, have I been so certain that I would enjoy a game as quickly as I was with MacGuffin. Inside of two minutes I had already purchased a copy for a friend, and we were both laughing our donkeys off!
The concept of MacGuffin is that you must break into a crumbling Japanese nuclear plant and find an item known as a “MacGuffin”. (Many of you are already in on the joke, right?) The puzzles are silly easy, and not intended to interfere with progress. Clearly, MacGuffin is a satire of the satirical “The Stanley Parable”, but infinitely funnier (which is in no way a criticism of TSP.) If you liked “Stanley” for the humor, you’ll LOVE MacGuffin for the same reason. (BUT, if you are unable to laugh at yourself, you may find it hard to laugh at MacGuffin as much as others might.)
Pop culture references have perhaps never been as ever present as in MacGuffin, from Nixon and what I believe is the song Funkytown, to the dead-solid best uses of the international NO symbol ever created. This game is simply hilarious, and worth more than the pittance being charged. Much of the humor is hidden or subtly sophisticated(?), and is well worth your time to find.
I only have two issues. One is that there is no SAVE feature, and there are SO MANY hilarious screenshots to be posted that I found myself starting over repeatedly (which is maybe the BEST problem ever!) The other is that the gameplay locks at various points (but not menu access. This would lead me to believe that is was intentional, except that the locking has occurred in three places, one quite early.) But since the game is actually the journey rather than the destination, the locking takes away rather little from the experience.
And while MacGuffin is a short game (how short can’t be determined until more info about the locking is shared by the DEVs), but for this rock-bottom price and its high degree of replayability, it’s well worth your time and money.

also, its a little racist.
After playing it for a bit and hoping for humor I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. This might be personal preference but I dont think randomness for the sake of randomness is funny. Portal isn't funny because it's random. It's funny because the writing is clever. No such luck here.

10/10 buy now before it's twice the price
Tries to be funny I guess but mostly misses the mark. Performance is also really bad at parts despite how basic the game looks. It's kindof like the Stanley Parable but nowhere near as good.
