Fun!
This game is very different than any game I have ever played. The game is very unique in how it is played, using typing as your weapon to combat foes. In addition to typing you have to switch back and forth in your typing powers to fight different foes or open different gates to advance the story and world. Points are also collected to unlock different portals or pieces of the world. You also have abilities that you can put points into, to train the abilities that you want to hone faster. The game itself is pretty, with a nice narration telling the story as you advance. I wouldn't say you have to be the worlds best typist, however you cannot be a one finger typist and expect to advance the story either. After playing for a bit, my wpm certainly improved lol Very enjoyable, bought it on sale and worth every penny.
Beautiful game. entertaining gameplay, the kids loved watching it too.
Not too challenging on typing, definitely worth the price.
7/10
I just finished the game and I love it so much. One of a kind.
This was the first time I played such a nice typing game. I don't really like "hacking" theme and most of these are in that game genre so I was happy when this gem showed up. Story is interesting and how fast you beat it depends on your typing skills. For achievements hunters - you won't be able (at least I don't think so) to get all achievements after finishing the game. You will need to grind them at the arena for few hours (beating certain amount of enemies + amount of typed words). So it might take time but it's not impossible. There are few missable achievements if you won't explore the map so just go there and enjoy the view and beat the dungeons. You will unlock more of the story thanks to that

Great game if you want to learn to touch type or a new keyboard layout.
Just finished Epistory - Typing Chronicles, and it’s honestly one of the most charming games I’ve played in a while. I’ve been into typing games for as long as I can remember - there’s something about turning words into action that just clicks with me.
Epistory really leans into that. It weaves typing into movement, puzzles, and combat in a way that feels natural and clever, not just a mechanic but the heartbeat of the world. Some of the combat encounters even humbled me a bit. I already type pretty fast without looking down, but there were moments that reminded me: oh right, pressure changes everything. And I loved that. It made me want to get sharper.
Visually, it’s stunning. The world unfolds around you like a living storybook - soft, magical, and full of that cozy, textured charm that’s hard to describe but easy to fall into.
I’ve already jumped into Nanotale, the next game from the same team, and I’m genuinely excited to see how it evolves things. If you like typing games or just want something different that feels thoughtful and surprising, Epistory is absolutely worth your time.
The world unfolds around you like a beautifully illustrated book with a personal touching story that is slowly revealed as the girl rides her fox through forests and caves full of monster.
Great for most ages. Great for people learning to master the keyboard. Great way to get kids to type.
I feel like this is the only good typing game period
Interesting story, nice variation on typing games.
Enjoyable story line, and a fun strategy game. It's semi-linear, but also kind of open world. It's an interesting combo. Definitely try it out!

Despite overstaying its welcome i cannot give thumbs down to the game that depicts mental health through metaphors
If you enjoy typing challenges, Epistory is good game. It’s more than just typing words on the screen—there’s a unique magic system where you must type specific words to unleash different abilities, like ice to slow enemies and fire to burn through the next word. I won’t spoil the rest, but I really enjoyed the mechanics. The story didn’t grab me personally, but I’m glad I came back to finish the game. Definitely worth a buy.
I liked the art style and the storytelling of this typing game. It took me about 7 hours to beat this game and would highly recommend.
It is a fun adventure typing game and has you fight monsters and explore new areas. It is also not only about typing but about finding out what you're supposed to do. Put it on the adaptive mode and it can get to you're level. The first nest is the hardest and it will get easier as it adapts to you're level. I am in fifth grade and I think others my age will like this game.
I've loved typing since I learned young in school with Mavis Beacon. This game is an absolute gem and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful game and fun play style.
I recommend this game if you're looking for a challenge and you're quite good at typing. And they have free demo!
However, I do *not* recommend this game if you're looking for something chill and cozy.
The visuals are amazing and I find paper book style of the world to be quite charming. I *really* wanted to enjoy this game. But it's simply too hard for me. Even dropping difficulty settings to "easiest" did not help at all. I ended up getting stuck at one fight with several waves of enemies, unable to defeat them in time, and strained my wrist. :(
It seems like majority of boss fights in this game are similar to the fight I got stuck at, so I just ended up refunding the game.
Tl;dr -
Buy if you want challenge,
Avoid if you want chill/cozy,
and take care of your wrists.
Epistory is a great game that transcends the typing mechanic. The story is great. The graphics are beautiful and remind me of Tearaway on the Vita with an HD twist. I love all of Epistory and recommend it highly.
This is a truly special game. It seamlessly blends typing mechanics with exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving in an origami-inspired world. The story, about a writer overcoming writer's block and a girl on a fox exploring, unfolds beautifully as you play.
love this game. i feel like my typing is getting better and it is so fun(ctional)
best typing game on steam.
8/10
THE GOOD: Great visuals, very fun game play, and the map growing really makes you feel the progress being made! Challenging without being impossible. Great for someone who wants to practice their typing without boring repetition.
THE BAD: The nest balancing felt off: early nests could be difficult and later nests too slow. Map was difficult to find things and isnt movable. Lastly, some of the achievements are grind-y time-fillers, so 100%-ing will take much longer and more effort than even multiple play-throughs would reach.
A relatively simple but stylish dream adventure where one of the skills you develop is your ACTUAL typing speed.
I regularly return to it because the words you are supposed to type are vaguely related to the function they perform (as in things you are supposed to burn prompts fire-related words, enemies are negative words, ...) and so when you put the word bank in a different language the game turns into association flashcards.
Creative and engrossing
Teacher here - cannot yet recommend for classroom because I have not finished the game, but I have enjoyed playing my 3 hours so far!
great game it is alot more challenging than i was expecting!
Really fun game about typing. If that is what you like, I can recommend it wholeheartedly.
Beautiful !! A very nice game, where skill is related to ... typing :-) !
IT'S FUN
great game!

Very Good
Charming, unusual control scheme, appropriate challenge level.
I'd like to start by saying that the game is artistically wonderful, and fun to play- If you're really fast at typing- but the game has a few issues.
The story is nice. Easy to follow, and I wasn't expecting the ending.
There's a problem related to the story, though. In the game, each area has a chunk of the story in it, shown through dialogue, or through a collectible picture you get in pieces from treasure chests. The four areas where you get your new abilities are labeled as chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4... but there are 8 areas. The final area isn't labeled as a chapter. You don't get a new ability in it, so I guess it's sticking to the rule, but it's a bit of an odd choice not to label the finale, when you've labeled the other "significant" ones. I guess those other 3 could be seen as extra or bonus areas, but they contain chunks of the story- And some pretty significant parts of it, too. I don't think areas with significant chunks of the story should be in hidden bonus areas. I say hidden because the game doesn't guide you towards these areas, and I had trouble figuring out how to get into two of them. In fact, halfway through the final chapter, I went through a portal that I didn't know would send me back to the start of it, for some reason. By then, I'd realized from context that this was the final act, and backtracked to do the other three areas. Thankfully, in the very back of the final area, the narrator warns you where the point of no return is, so you can backtrack if you want to.
That's the biggest issue with the game though. Just parts of the way it's designed. Let's get to the good parts!
The art. Amazing, beautiful. How do you make rocks look like they're rocks, but also made of paper? They have this cool unfolding paper animation for loading new chunks of the map. Waterfalls, since they're a sheet of blue paper, end in little curls of paper strips. The enemy design is cool. The papery look adds a lot of personality to the game.
The gameplay. Good! You type the right words to whittle down the health of your enemies. The pacing is definitely fast enough to create a sense of urgency, especially since you'll die if they hit you just once. There is no health bar here. Thankfully, the checkpoints aren't very far from where you died.
The gameplay does have one thing that's less of a problem for the player, and more of a design issue. You get different elemental abilities, such as fire, wind, ice, and electricity. Each of them does something different, and each attack looks different when shot off, and that's cool. The problem is, fire is the best one to use, to the point where I rarely used the others in battle. The game kind of has to force you to use the other abilities, by making some enemies only take damage from one of the other elements. Also, the spark ability is actually a little disadvantageous. It's kind of long to explain, but essentially, it hits multiple enemies, so when you're typing a word for an enemy you didn't aim for, the word can just disappear halfway through, because the spark branched out and hit that enemy. It only wastes a few seconds, but those seconds and breaking your flow state like that can mess you up in the later battles. Seriously, you have to type lightning quick for those.
Anyway, overall, the game is gorgeous, has a nice story, and is pretty dang fun.
it makes typing fun but doesn't teach sentences.
I wanted a typing game and this delivered. Gameplay is fun and difficulty increases at a challenging but not overwhelming pace. The aesthetic is fun, and the world is engaging to explore. My one complaint is that the story feels very unfulfilling at the end, but i wasn't playing it for the story so that's not a detractor for me.
great game for getting better at typing and learning new keyboard layouts
Very pretty to look at, fun and relaxed to play
I played this with a new ortho keyboard and decided to learn the Workman layout with it.
Now I know what old people feel like when you ask them to type something.
Gameplay-wise, it's very poorly optimized, you need much better hardware than
the mentioned minimal requirements.
Except for that, it's an indie masterpiece.
Such a unique and exciting approach to gameplay. I had so much fun playing and finished the game in one sitting. I also found myself in awe at the artstyle, music, level design, and so on. Finishing fights felt rewarding and worthwhile, and the story narration felt so true to the "storybook" aesthetic. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed, and found myself eager to overcome the word battles rather than feel daunted and frustrated. Challenging, but within reason. Absolutely loved!
Fun game to work on your typing skills. It also has some nice problem solving games as well.
Super cute little gem.
it helped me tipe better becuse i cant leval up unless i do it corectly and now i am much better at tipeing
The typing words to battle system is lots of fun. :)
Beautiful paper art that constructs the landscape is the highlight of this fun typing adventure
Amazing!
Epistory is amazing. So fun, and helps you practice typing so as to improve your touch typing abilities and speed. I wish that there were more of these games. Outstanding!!!!!!!!!
It looks pretty with the origami art style, sure. But clunky controls, boring enemies, a repetitive soundtrack and writing that is far more pretentious than it has any right to be made me dislike this otherwise passable typing game.
