Discord and Dev Community Server (All are welcome!)
What we're trying to do by opening up a public discord for people that are interested in the game to talk to devs and follow news and to make a hub for our patreon to talk with us. If your supporter or pateron message a dev or post in the chat so we can verify it and give you the proper tag.
We are currently developing Dark Storm: VR Missions as a stand-alone module to test and fine-tune the core game mechanics that will be in our upcoming full release title, Dark Storm: Ascension, as well as introduce players to the world of Dark Storm. Purchasers of Dark Storm: VR Missions will receive a discount to Dark Storm: Ascension upon its release.
People who purchase Dark Storm: VR Missions should understand that this is a proof of concept, and independent module of Dark Storm Ascension, and is being used for the time being as a way for those who are interested in Dark Storm Ascension to help fund, and support us, while watching development of both VR Missions, and Ascension. Dark Storm: VR Missions is in no way complete, and the following things listed below are our final aim for both VR Missions, and Ascension.

*NOTE: You do not need a VR Headset to play this game*
Complete Advanced Training in a Virtual Reality World
Players take control of Amber Kingsley, a former U.S. Special Forces officer hired by Ancile, the world’s leading private military corporation. Tasked to protect the Irving Apex Research Facility in Alaska, Amber must first undergo advanced training within Irving’s next-generation VR simulator.
Control the Engagement...
Choose your preferred playstyle to tackle the game’s different scenarios, be it gripping stealth or intense action; you have the power to be as covert or as gung-ho as you desire.
...But Prepare to be Matched
Play how you want and the AI will match it. The game’s Dynamic AI enemies are programmed to react intelligently to the player’s every move; flanking, calling in reinforcements or even tactically retreating depending on the situation.
Utilise Future Technology
Dark Storm takes place in the near future, the year 2034, and the tools you have access to in the game reflect that. Alongside various unique weapons, you can also pilot a deployable drone to pinpoint enemy patrols, hidden positions, or a faster route to reach your objective and take advantage of the Sya Enhanced Projection system to view real time information about your enemy.
Intuitive Camera Perspectives
The game features an immersive true first-person perspective that pulls you into the action in a believable way. And, if first-person isn’t your thing, you can also experience Dark Storm in an equally immersive dynamic third-person perspective, featuring a shoulder-switching camera.
Discover an Original and Immersive Narrative
Dark Storm isn’t just a video game, it’s an experience. As you progress through the game you will discover hidden text and audio logs that add depth to the storyline and breathe life into the Dark Storm world.
Fully Voice Acted
The story features professional voice acting for cutscenes, AI and characters. Voice actors include Danielle McRae (World of Warcraft and League of Legends) and River Kanoff (Heroes of Newerth and Dust: An Elysian Tale), as well as a number of up-and-coming indie talents.

Abandoned. Developer went dark in 2017.
There's a lot to do yet in this game, I experience some crashes, little bugs on interaction and unstable behaviors like spawning in mid air, flawed hit detection or weird character movements. I hope they finish it someday, the story is good, the graphics are sweet, and it's a great concept, I know if the game gets some work and becomes more stable it will be incredibly enjoyable.
Please keep it up, there are still some players around that would love to see this finished.
This game is now dead!!!
Fudge this game. It was great but has been abandoned. The game was supposed to be like a Next Gen Metal Gear Solid VR missions.
The two producers who co-owned the game rights had a falling out, and disagreement. One of them was really not pulling his weight too often either. Long story short, it finally got to the point where they broke from each other. Because both owned the rights to this game, and had a falling out, neither was going to budge. This meant that even if the producer who was running the show and had been making things move forward did things his way, the other producer could withhold releasing the game, and still control things despite doing nothing to further the game.
Because of this, and because that one producer would not step down he finally had to quit the team. (There were more reasons, and situations, but I wont divulge everything)
The majority of the team left with the other producer to work on a new game.
It was a huge blow to the game, and quite honestly the game was playable nearly from start to finish. But now that's its been a year in the hands of the second producer who didn't do anything, with nothing new (and from my understanding nothing has been worked on for the game since most people left) shows just how little he did.
Dont waste you money. Check the discussions. They are working on something new.
I have to say... posting a Early Access game in this state is deplorable at best. The level design looks nice, but that's about all I can say positive about this "game".
The character models look like they took a serious turn for the worse. The AI, when it isn't ice skating around the map is awful ("adaptive AI...lol what a joke). ALL of the collision is terrible. I can't even finish the 1st VR mission (which should take a couple of minutes) because the AI teleports itself around the map with no clear line if sight. The movement is atrocious. The menu system is garbage (can't even set it to my native resolution), sound sometimes works. There really is literally nothing here that makes it worth any amount of money, let alone $10.
Here's what this game is: a bunch of art students think they can make a game on their own. The game they want to make needs mechanics, but there is no programmer in sight. I make games on UE4 as a hobby and this is simply laughable. It is evident whoever is doing the game design and coding has no clue as to what they are doing.
Note to the "developers": YOU ARE CHARGING MONEY FOR THIS. This is NOT a game, hell it is not even an remotely an alpha. Who ever decided to put this on Green Light needs to find a new job. Let me make this clear... YOU ARE CHARGING MONEY FOR THIS. This project, at this point in time, deserves ZERO dollars. Find someone who actually knows how to code, and hire them. This is an embarassment.
This game is gonna be awesome When its Finnaly Released I can't Wait!:D
This game has got a ton of potential. The best way I can explain this game is, it's a ten dollar version of Tron meets Metal Gear Solid. Yes it is very buggy and somewhat awkward to control but it is making progress. I'm loving it so far and am seriously hopeful they'll get the rest of the kinks worked out. Even as it is I'd say it's worth getting on a 40-50% sale but if they work out all the issues it has now then it's definitely worth the full price.
While I really appreciate what this game is trying to do, I cannot endorse this particular itteration of the game / demo.
For almost $10, there is not enough content to justify that price point. There are many other games that will give you more for your investment.
That aside, the technical issues are just too plentiful for what is presented to us to be enjoable.
1: The A.I. only has two modes; Potato, and wall-hack. It's a 50 / 50 shot that when you come around a corner a guard will already be shooting at your, or staring at you, oblivious to your existence.
2: The aim down sights is terribly off. The further away from someone you are, the lower you have to aim. Once you get about half a room away (20 or so yards / meters) you have to aim at their belt to get a headshot.
**update** So, the issue isn't as drastic currently, but it's still very off. The current bullets are hitscan instead of raycast, but the hitscan sensor detects AFTER the kick of the gun, instead of before, causing bullets to jump, and causing aim down sights to be off increasingly more as you get further from the enemy.
3: Enemy health seems to be based off their alert status. What would normally take one or two bullets, once an enemy sees you / is attacking you, could take half a clip. I believe this has more to do with the animations. **tentatively seems to be fixed**
4: The animations, or the ones that work, are just broken. Don't believe me? Try picking up a dead guy. The first five seconds of the gameplay where you cycle through crouch, prone, crouch, and standing is just a mess.
5: Picking up dead guys just doesn't work. Out of the 50 test runs I did attempting to pick up a dead body from all different angles, I was successful once. I was then treated to a ballet of terrible animation as the guys ragdol flailed into my shoulder.
6: Picking up stuff / interacting with stuff works about 30% of the time. You have to have a very specific angle to interact with almost everything, and even then it almost never works. You have to reload after every failed attempt to be able to interact with the monitor to set your difficulty.
7: Sound. Literally everything about it.
All in all, as stated before, this game has some serious potential, but this itteration just feels like a hastily assembled pre-alpha. Neither the stealth, or the first person shooter aspects of this work to any sufficient degree to merit looking at this. Hopefully when the game is ported over to the Unreal Engine 4 most of these issues will be fixes, but as it stands, follow the project, but don't quite put your money on it yet.
this game is cool but its not ready for testing at all because there are so many bugs that you cant change weapons soemtimes, enemies magically appear behind and kill you, bullets go through the walls, you cant stealth becasue your behind a wall and somehow they detect you i mean come on guys.....this game is not ready for testing yet...i mean its hardly playable. Mybe if you put more effort on making the testing game more playable for people mybe i would recommend. Dont get me wrong this game has potential just....not what i was expecting to be a horrid disaster even for a testing game for people.
Wow, this is bad. Really bad. The menus are awful being white text on white backgrounds with super small arrows, weirdly locked at 62 frames, settings unavailable from in game, really bad animations that don't have sound playing, and at one point, I was proning while floating in the air. I can't pick up weapons, which I would have checked to see if the key wasn't bound, but I couldn't, because of the aforementioned issue. Animations are rough, really rough, I can't use weapons due to an actual bug, some tutorial pistons don't work, subtitles don't exist even though settings say they do, there are preanimated takedowns, the preanimated takedowns don't go to another camera angle and just happen in front of you, so many issues. Seriously, avoid it at all costs.
review as of 25/8/15
shouldnt have been released the way it is atm
think i managed 3 mins in game before it crashed
doesnt come with my native aspect ratio but it has nearly every other bigger and smaller
alot of the text is too small
the model movement and foot falls are sluggish and out of sync
walking is absolutely dreadful and running feels like ur sonic
no one is ready for rolling in first person
k so an update
managed to play another 30 mins before it crashed again
noticed at the start of the game it said this is a demo for the kickstarter so do we own the game or did we just pay for a free demo?
anyhow about the gameplay tried 2 missions in stealth instead of casual takes a few times to get used to peeking and shooting
the accuracy over long range is dreadful even when taking your time and crouching
the guards constantly screaming they know your here even when you just load into the area
before it crashed i managed to work out you can just cheese the whole thing by spam throwing noise makers and atracting the whole maps guards
The game isn't much more than a technical demo/proof of concept - but that's perfectly fine and it's fun for what it is. These guys are doing game-design the right way, focusing on solid game fundamentals rather than hyped up nonsense.
Will Dark Storm end up being the Syphon Filter esque successor that I've been waiting for? I don't know. But I do know that if more devs followed this strategy the industry would be in a better place, and that alone is enough of a reason to support them.
