The Sun is broken
⠀
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

Sir! I'd Like To Report A Bug! is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This platformer is fairly badly made, and features a weird "meta" theme where you play the role of a software tester and bugs from the software infest the world, so you have to spend a huuuge amount of time doing pointless platforming just to report the bugs in the real world, or whatever.
I guess the most entertaining part about this game is the ironic factor of the game being about a game tester, when it's apparent very little in the way of testing took place during the weekend or so it took to make this Unity "platformer template reskin + bash out a few levels" job.
The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. Hitboxes for a lot of the platforms don't work properly, you can slip off them, and sometimes you'll be standing a few pixels over the visible surface of some of the platforms. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing or polish done.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
The default Unity launcher gives you the option to change the resolution, but this doesn't actually work, as the developer overrides whatever you put in and chooses some resolution at random. There's no other useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Sir! I'd Like To Report A Bug! has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for dying (certainly something that playing this game will inspire you to do), trivial to achieve, but less than 2 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 2 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game.
That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Sir! I'd Like To Report A Bug! is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
So... first: don't buy if not on sale/through coupon of >50%. I haven't finished yet, farmed the chromes and put'em on sale for lvl farmers and break even (so basically got this for free).
Why get this? it's free.
It's fun? NO.
Should I play it? TL;DR: If you just wanna play and kill time, I wouldn't recommend this game. (would grab a new mod for portal, HL, Skyrim or whatever instead).
Well, it depends. As an enthusiast coder (i.e. hobby keyboard picking lemming) I can see the work behind it. It's a solid work, reminds me of my cringy projects of years back and hey! it's on f**** Steam, that's waaaay more than I could've dreamed of when I started coding. Having a piece of software on a such known platform it's a feat on itself and could potentially give major credit to a starting portfolio and set you ahead of many others looking to set foot in the industry. It's a lot better making a cringey game than a NSFW eronovel.
That being said, dev should give this oldie a bit of love, rework it or something whenever possible (as bad reviews counter that advantage on said portfolio). Would be a nice weekend project sort of Gamedev jam, and opens up a lot of options to get to the community. An AMA, an "so, tnx 4 playing this crap, I remade it on this format and would love that you tried it!" (of course free or next to free BUT there dev could show us on what's working nowadays) or even make a series of short youtube videos: gameplay of "let's play my cringey old project LOL" with commentary on how he would implement the mechanics nowadays, a few videos on the coding of the new version, with potential to stripe lots of shorts and adding mod compatibility for other to develop bugs, reskin chars, replace textures, whatever comes. That alone even if it doesn't provide any revenew its an amazing thing to show if dev should ever pitch any idea or apply into a larger company (as a proof of background, growth, a display of several soft skills and a grade of seniority as a respect for previous work).
I would like to recommend this game, sadly I cannot. The terrible quality of the game and the repetitive jokes make it fell forced. It does have some merit though, for what that's worth.
YES SİR!!
Firts the music gave me brain cancer, then the gameplay fast forwaded it to stage 3. Furthermore, the main mechanic of the game is jumping and even that is terrible(gamepad is even worse), even the hitboxes are messed up. And I won't comment on the humor of the game nor the amount of bugs present in the game. I do not recommend the game, it is not enjoyable.
game plays like it's made by a 10 year old on summer break. stale memes everywhere! not that it's garbage, but it definitely isnt worth the full price, even if it's for sale on 75% off
It's a very nice and funny game, if we must find a flaw, maybe the music is a bit too catchy.
Little fun platformer that will push your limits with its incredibly absurd difficulty.
I'm not a fan of some of the randomness, but overall and for the price, is a good option to remember when games were punishing.
The game itself is pretty "eh". The game tries pretty hard to be funny, but I haven't laughed once. Other than that, it's pretty mediocre. Get this if you have a coupon or if it's on sale, but don't expect much.
I love this game its easy to understand how to play, but also gets harder everytime you succeed, and for the price this game is diffently worth it!
Awesome game: highly recommend to fans of classic 90's platormers. Music is ace, graphics are endearing and there's a great sense of humour throughout.
I'm having a lot of fun so far. I think the art is well done, and the music is great! Sometimes I get a little frustrated, because I didn't see some obsticle coming, but I wouldn't call the death cheap. Honestly, I think the only thing the game needs is a check point system! (Because I've died a few times way too close to the end of the levels and I'm very salty about that.) Just so I can pick back where I left off, rather than lose my momentum by ending up at the beggining of the level.
But really, this game is great! And if you want something fun to do for a little while, I'd say pick it up!
