An abstract lateral-thinking puzzle game
In each level the aim is to build units of tricone within cell compartments. Change the cell structure for example by breaking open compartment walls. Once resources become available you can use catalysts to create compounds you need: each compound has a unique ability. As you progress, new resource, catalyst and compound types emerge within puzzles that increasingly challenge your lateral thinking.

- 100 unique puzzle levels.
- A large variety of elements that all interact with each other.

👍 you can and should make an infinite factory in a couple of levels by abusing duplication
lots of levels but many of them are tutorial-tier nobrainers, similar to portal 1
short and sweet, took me 7 hours to 100% it
seems like it should have online capabilites but game can't connect to the server so no custom levels, 100 levels is all you get
interesting artstyle but after some time i realized it's effectively just a graph where cells are nodes and lines connecting them can't intersect
almost all resources only fit their appropriate catalyst so the only question of where to use them is a decision between using them properly: bringing them to the appropriate catalyst square peg→square hole style; or throwing them as bait to the anti-catalyst obstacle

i real interesting puzzle game based on when to break wall and where to break them, it took me a while to get the mechanic down and i looked up a level, luckly there is a guide with a video that is a full walkthrough on all level packs if you are suck on anything!
its super fun get it!!!
I've never really seen a game with similar mechanics to Tricone Lab, making this game's puzzles all the more refreshing. The puzzles generally boil down to figuring out the right order of operations, and the mechanics iterate on that idea deeply.
Each level has an amorphous shape, meaning there's tons of variety in level structure, not being limited by a grid or something similar. The mechanics are biology-inspired, but all feel like very natural extensions of previous ones.
Really interesting challenge, can't recommend enough.
This is easly in top10 territory of best logic games on steam with hexcells and zachtronics titles. well balanced game, i didnt even enrage once.
A challenging logic puzzle game. There are 5 levels of difficulty and the level is indicated for each puzzle. New bio-logic mechanics are introduced as you progress.
Even though there is not much current activity in the discussion forum, Josh, the developer, still monitors it and has recently provided me with a hint at solving a puzzle I was having particular difficulties with. His hints are...cryptic...but then, you don't want the answers handed to you on a plate, do you?
As another reviewer noted, a "gem" of a game.
Great puzzle game!
This is a wonderful and near the end very complex puzzler. It starts of very easy and slowly introduces you to new mechanics and let me tell you there are a lot of mechanics to lean. This game doesnt hold your hand to most of the time you will have to figure out things on your own. When you reach last 6 stages you will have to combine all the things you learn and the game is nicely balanced so there are not many puzzles you will think its unsolvable.I was stuck on one puzzle for 2 hours but trial and error did the job.I really cant find nothing wrong with this game, its a hidden gem for sure and deserves more praise.
10/10
A clever, unique and stylish puzzle game.
Very good puzzle game
just an aweosome puzzle game, minimalist and beautiful
Though got a crash in first minute, the game works fine set to native res.
A new approach to puzzles is really freshening. Fine interface for what is aimed, good atmosphre with the animation and music.
No-brainer to get at discount if you generally like puzzles.
Drag various pieces to various locations for various effects and ultimately construct your tricones.
At first you wonder how much of a puzzle game it can really be, but as the mechanics build up and cell structure gets more complicated it can get really tricky by the later levels.
It does need Java to play which is irritating, and whenever I loaded it it always said it couldnt connect to server so I dont appear to have access to any additional content, but I rarely spend much time looking at user edited content, and the game has plenty of levels built in for the money you pay.
Ultimately its a a really quite unique, challenging, puzzle game with decent enough sound and graphics to get across the satisfying game play. A seemingly underappreciated gem amongst the budget puzzlers.
Does not have fullscreen mode. Now, borderless windowed (which the game features) would be enough, but ... its resolution list is limited. By far most games list resolutions up to my 4K desktop (Windows 10, newest patches), but this one doesn't, max is something around 3000.
So I have the choice to play with a window centered on my screen that either has borders or doesn't have borders. But no fullscreen.
That's just too low tech, and the game isn't good/nostalgic/magical/whatever enough to warrant such a flaw. Refunded it.
This game is very simple but also very fun. It is extremely addictive and I don't even really like puzzle games. I hate puzzle games that always seem to rush you with timers and crap but this is actually really neat and rewrds simple, smart thinking rather than anything else.
This is a fantastic puzzle game - it feels like it uses a similar part of my brain that Sudoko does (if this then that, but if I do that then this happens so I need to stop that happening by doing this but then I can't do that so must do this, and so on). It's a great example of a few rules and conditions that multiply together to something really complex. I've been playing for 6 hours or so, unlocked 33% of the achievements, so still have a lot of playing to go. Pretty good value for £6.99.
I am getting to the levels where you can draw new membrane walls to make partitions and protect/isolate some of the pieces you're playing with, and each time you get a new type of 'piece' to play with it gives it more depth.
The game also introduces you to the mechanism of play very well - it doesn't teach you what to do, so much as put you in the right environments to learn what to do, before it throws the harder problems at you.
I'm also playing on a touchscreen, which makes the whole thing quite tactile.
So if you're into thinking and problem solving, give it a try - if you get past four or five levels you'll be hooked into finishing it - while it gets more difficult as it goes on, it's always possible to solve. :)
Amazing, instructive, enjoyable!
Seemingly simple yet complicated, very useful, I think, also for those who play chess; develops concentration, logic and lateral thinking. It worth every cent!
