Very fun little time waster, quite challenging and fast paced, great aesthetic and music. Idk why there's so many negative reviews, sure its not as expansive and it would be cool to see more levels or something but what is there is very fun. Its not something I play for hours on end but for like ten mins here and there and I enjoy it a lot.

For less then a $1 its a fun game but very little game play to be found after blowing a few things up.

Good for high-score challenges against friends. Good for when you are tired of thinking too much.

TLDR: Screen jitters in zoom around ship with low FOV. Low quality visual assets shake around violently as you adjust camera and fail to take control of your aim. You get zerged and overwhelmed fast.

Obtained in bundle years ago so it is tied to my account. This has the simplicity of an arcade cabinet game. No permanent progression or unlocks. You play and you either win or lose. Xbox360 pad detected and working correctly. Music and sound was okay.

This genre has a lot of highly polished titles of all stripes and this now free to play title has little to bring to the table.

Quick thought

A simple and repetitive game that give the user a trip to retro game era.

Who it's for?

Someone who are still chained to the retro game era or if you just want to spend the remaining money "leftover" from the Event Sale.

Conclusion

Actually the game is not bad for the price. I personally enjoy it.

If you're looking for fast paced arcade style fun, you've found it. The game starts off fairly quickly, and just gets faster and faster as you go. Fun powerups. Fun game. It's really pretty simple. I paid 49 cents for the game, which is horribly underpriced in my opinion. If you think you might enjoy it, why not get it? Small file size, miniscule price tag, and some great fun.

I would honestly love to talk to a developer of the game. It is fast paced and honestly really fun! The game is very simple and brings retro back to reality. The soundtrack is even amazing!

Even though there are negative reviews saying its bad it really just depends what you like. It has alot of dying involve but thats what makes it great. If you don't die in a game there is no challenge in it.

I really enjoy this game for its simplicity and the price is even amazing!

9/10 for it being sexy

This game is really cool! It is a little short I will admit, but for the price you can't beat it! Catchy soundtrack, upbeat gameplay, really keeps you having to stay focused on what your doing! The art is beautiful and the whole game overall is 100% worth taking a look at.

I don't know if this is worth $2 or not.. but the amount of fun I've ALEADY had for my 19 cents really puts this solidly into "Recommend" territory for me personally.

It's a LOT like Geometry Wars, or Gran Vitreous (or any number of other twin-stick shooters on Steam) but I really like the aesthetic.

It'd be nice if there were some more Steam features implemented (CARDS!!) but this is definitely a fun little game -- and one that I see myself picking up for 5 minutes at a time off and on indefinitely.

This game is like buying a well known brand from poundland, you get less but still have the same quality and for the price its a bargin.

This game only has 1 level, no leveling up system but for 15p this game is worth it. Ive got more play time in this game than i have in certain AAA, £40 games :p

These pixels deserve to die!
Nice sound for the machine gun. Music is awesome as fff.

EDIT: I don't know why all the negative reviews. The game is described as "a top-down arcade shooter micro-game" and costs 50 cent, were you expecting FarCry 5 ?!

This game is super addictive, but it does have its errors. For example, when you fire your bullets, your view shakes a tonne. Also, I'm still unfamilier with the saying "Get Juiced". But I must admit, the sound track is AMAZING! I'd definately recommend this game if you're waiting for something to upload, or update, etc. Get it while its still 90% off.

In comparison to other genres, the twin-stick shooter tends to stick out as being one that doesn’t have any long-running history that many other genres can claim to possess. That’s just something that comes with being relatively young when compared to those genres. However this does come with its advantages: being so new; the twin-stick shooter has seen plenty of room for both the innovation of new ideas as well as the refinement of well-established ones. If there’s one game that stands out in particular as having brought the twin-stick shooter into the public eye of the gaming community, it’s Bizarre Creations’ Geometry Wars: a game that won’t soon be forgotten by early adopters of the Xbox 360 and its wealth of XBLA games. TeraBlaster draws heavy inspiration from Geometry Wars, which isn’t really surprising given the game’s influence on establishing the core codes and conventions of the genre. Unfortunately TeraBlaster falls short in delivering what the most critically successful twin-stick shooters always bring to the table: a reason to keep coming back and playing again and again.

There are subtle hints that nod toward a plot thread depicting a clash between hostile robots and a ‘rogue ship’, which presumably belongs to the player. These hints are presented in the form of short sentences displayed whenever the player meets their untimely demise, though ultimately the player is left to fill in most of the gaps themselves.

TeraBlaster’s core gameplay is fairly standard for a twin-stick shooter: you control a cyan-coloured saucer which is confined to a 2D plane and shoot at red saucers that try to ram you from all directions. You can fire in any direction you wish at any time, which is probably a good thing given how fast the enemies start coming at you once you’ve dealt with the first few. Bombs can be collected and thrown at enemies, or they can be left to orbit your ship to offer protection from anyone who gets too close. Scattered across the playing field are a number of coloured blocks that can be destroyed. Grey blocks often contain power-ups that boost your speed or contribute to your supply of bombs, while red ones explode and can be used to take out large groups of enemies all at once. There are also purple ones that can only be blown up through the use of bombs, though it’s not clear as to what purpose they serve, as they don’t seem to contain any power-ups, do any harm to enemies or really do anything for that matter. Your final score is based solely on the number of kills you make before being taken out. In fact the score itself is actually just a tally of how many kills you got. There are no score multipliers, no score-enhancing power-ups or special states to speak of – what you see is what you get. This is only part of what is likely to turn some players away. The fact that there’s only a few different types of enemies; all of whom behave in a near identical manner; and the lack of complexity to the scoring system are going to keep those looking for a greater challenge from enjoying the game.

Geometry Wars works due to the straightforwardness of its mechanics which lead to a series of very compelling play dynamics. But those dynamics only become apparent because of the not-so-obvious depth that Geometry Wars has. All of the enemies behave differently, they attack in very specific patterns and the scoring mechanics reward those who are willing to go out of their way to take risks to raise their score. None of that is present in TeraBlaster: the enemies do the same thing over and over, they often appear haphazardly; sometimes while moving extremely fast and appearing from off-screen while leaving the player far too little time to react to what’s going on; and the scoring system itself doesn’t encourage the player to go out there and do their thing. In Geometry Wars the player needs to be constantly on the offensive to keep their multiplier up, whilst making sure they have a ‘plan B’ should things go bad, or risk losing their multiplier. In TeraBlaster there comes a point during every run at which any incentive to move away from a corner of the map becomes almost non-existent and only manifests when an occasional enemy appears from the map’s edge. Such cases do little to help the overall experience, since the player will probably just relocate to a new corner before camping the spot and gunning down enemies in droves with no real thought put into the matter.

You can play TeraBlaster with a mouse and keyboard but as one would expect a controller provides the best balance between aiming precision and smoothness of movement for this sort of title. The official wired Xbox 360 controller works wonderfully, although some players may be bothered by the lack of an option to disable the controller’s rumble feature.

The visual style is highly reminiscent of teletext graphics. There are solid opaque colours and pretty much everything from the saucers to the background is made up of large pixels that those familiar with the distinct teletext look will be familiar with. It’s nothing fancy, but it fits the overall feel of the game and the soundtrack doesn’t hurt either.

TeraBlaster is light on content to say the least, and that’s primarily what keeps it from being more than only mildly entertaining. It’s likely that the average player will lose the motivation to continue playing over repeated sessions in the long run. There’s nothing particularly bad about the core gameplay experience but the fact that the entire game can be seen in literally a few minutes; and that what there is to see offers so little variety in terms of gameplay; will likely put the majority of players off this title. If you’re a huge fan of the genre and have to play every twin-stick shooter that comes out, then TeraBlaster might be worth a go provided you can get it very cheap, though one should bear in mind that it’s not going to yield the same replayability as Geometry Wars, nor the same level of depth as something like Super Stardust. Otherwise you may be better off looking for a twin-stick shooter that offers a deeper experience and; more importantly; a compelling reason for the player to come back and play again.

This game is an unknown gem.

TeraBlaster is that sort of game that you don't want to buy at first sigh because... Reasons ? But when you get finally your hands on it, you wish you played this game before !

In this game, you play a little ship and try to survive as long as you can, facing dangerous and fast ships that will try to take you down.
By trying to avoid them, you will find some power up that will help you survive through the game.

The music of this game is eargasmic (quite repetitive, but, whatever...), the gameplay is easy and really cool with a controller.

When you got into that game, you just can't stop playing, tryin' to get the best time and the best score, the game design makes you feel immortal and extremely powerfull, but I promise you're not, and this is why the game is so frustating and amazing at the same time.

It's really hard to explain. The best advice I can offer you is to try it yourself, it's low priced and very cool for a long time.

8/10: While not perfect, its and excellent twin stick shooter littered with obscure refrences. While the camera can be improved, it is 1.0 so they have time to fix this. The soundtrack to this game is a cross between Dance and Electronic that flows well with the 8-bit graphics of the game. At it's current price, it's definitley worth a purchase.

I really like the game. I've been playing for over an hour. My current highscore is 300 kills.
The game is pretty pointless compared to some out there. It's a good time waster. Not very good if you are looking for some grand indepth scheme.

Worth the price? It depends on if you plan on playing it for a few hours or if its so small you'll get bored quickly. It's a microgame. But it is enjoyable for the soundtrack and simple gameplay. It is fast paced I suppose. You need reflexes at times.

The game over all has a certain feeling to it.

My only want from it is a leaderboard.
A Steam leaderboard would be awesome.

Pros:
Pretty neat aesthetic
Action is fast and frantic
Easy to tell apart enemies and dangerous things apart from background [a lot of stuff doesn't get that right]
Bombs also seem to work as shields, neat concept
It's functional and stable, never crashed, I never took a hit I didn't think was legit, and I didn't see any noticible bugs.

Cons:
Once you destroy the boxes in 10 seconds the level is basically just the square it always is in these quickie twin stick shooters, and on top of that the enemies just go through most of the boxes.
The gun sound is really annoying, along with the constant screen shake and controller vibration
Enemies start rushing you down from off screen by the minute mark, needs a much wider field of view.
The song in the trailer is not the one in the game, one in game isn't bad, but it isn't dubstep and isn't as good.
No noticibly different enemies, they are all suicidal circles of varying size and health
Red boxes explosion managed to kill me from offscreen several times

Neat game, but needs more work, mostly in the variety department. You can't have a 3 minute twin stick without at least a few more enemies, weapons, or level design.

I generally use "I made a game with zombies in it" as my bar of entry at this price and this game doesn't match it.

I played around 20 rounds, longest survival time was 1:48

I cannot recommend this game. While the soundtrack is decent, There's really only one thing to do, the "Random Level" is honestly a bunch of boxes randomly distributed, the challenge comes from enemy's bumrushing you from off screen at faster speeds than reactable and there are NO roguelike elements to be had. I honestly think I've seen all there is to see in my few runs. A disappointment compared to the quality of past games from this developer.
