In the year 2496, you are appointed Colony Director for Tetracorp and it is your job to build a thriving colony while defending it from 6 alien species.
Fragile Allegiance offers a fast-paced RTS where you can buy blueprints, hunt for asteroids to mine, or even build an Asteroid Engine and use it against an opponent who’s been a thorn in your side! If you favour a more underhanded approach to furthering your goals, you can deploy Spy Satellites and Sabotage Agents to thoroughly undermine your enemies. Once you expand beyond the scope of one colony, you can appoint Colony Managers to take care of the more minor details of running and maintaining your colony.

Good old K-240 in a bit better version.
Worked fine for 2-3 hours, now it crashes either on startup or after a few minutes playing with a DOS 4GW error. Also it claims I have played for 14 hours which is not possible. I purchased it at 9:30 pm yesterday, played 2-3 hours and quit. Something apparently continued to run and ran up my time after I exited it so I can't get a refund now. At least I got it on sale.
As for the game itself (as much as I could experience in limited time), it's okay, kind of tedious with no hotkeys, forcing you to use the mouse for everything.
Used to play this game with my middle school buddies. Had a blast taking care of my population and creating an impact as an interstellar supervisor managing asteroids.
A nostalgic game for me. really like playing it
a old school game way ahead of its time there is a whole market where price changes over seasons for buying, selling, and trading. It may take a lil time knowing how to play and understand but once use to it it is very easy to play. I wish someone would mod and keep it old school just add a few more ores and air crafts etc. Overall great game!!!!!!!
Broken game
AI colony managers are pretty bad. Game is becomes impossible since it can't be paused and managed and there are just too many things to do - not fun things though - mostly tedious management of many many planets.
Essentially the game loop is to colonize a planet, build a couple of buildings to manage population needs, and for mining (really boring, zero depth to this system), and somehow sell the mined resources. Once you're done with a planet the buildings just stay there and there's not much to do with the planet. So now to generate income you have to keep colonizing new planets, which means you have many planets to manage (i.e. build the same thing over and over again) and ship the mined resources back to some home planet for sale. The interfaces are 90's bad (i.e. zero QOL for things you do 90% of the time), which was reasonable 30 years ago, not recommended for today though.
Obviously there are other tedious things to do (like simple random graph based trading of "unique resources") which you can't focus on due to every aspect of the game requiring micro management.
As someone who didn't play this game in the 90s, I wouldn't recommend it to someone who doesn't have nostalgia for this particular game.
