STAR WARS™ Empire at War - Gold Pack

I love this game for its tactical space and land battles. and for its expansive workshop that allows you to play out some wars that are well known to the community.

There are some great mods for this game and the campaign mode in the original game is also very well done.

This game is so fun and the mods are awsome

EaW is at base a rather fun and decently intuitive top down RTS game, but the real fun begins with the workshop, as with the workshop you might as well be playing different games.

A classic title from a better era.....dont let the graphics fool you,after download,jump immediately to the workshop and you have a modern RTS with the best Space naval combat you've ever seen!!

It's basically if Command & Conquer and Star Wars had a baby and that baby also had space battles. Anyone that is looking for an RTS Star Wars game needs to have this in their library.

got a disk copy of this game 15 years ago, and re-bought it 5 years ago. this game has been enjoyable and fun throughout all the years i've played it. and the mods are incredible. the community that this game formed is incredible. 11/10.

Good game, still holds up even in 2025. The base game has more than enough content and there's plenty of great workshop mods that are highly accessible.

Honestlyu just a nostalgia play for me, the graphics aren't anything to write home about but I love this game as it was a part of my childhood. Pretty similar to age of empires but a star wars version.

The missions move quickly and the story seems rushed. Also didnt like how the game ends after the first death star is destroyed. Overall for the time that the game was created this is a 10/10. Even by today's standards the game still holds up.

I've been playing this game since it was released and keep coming back. There is always something new with the still active moding community, which makes the game better in every way.

The best strategy game. Bar none. You might think you've played the best but you haven't until you've bought this game, installed either AoTR or AoTCW and press play. You won't regret it.

I really wish I had heard about this game sooner it's just about everything I could've wanted out of a Star Wars RTS game. Great gameplay in both ground and space battles, skirmish and Galactic Conquest are both blasts to play through, and great modding support is just the cherry on top.

My only complaint is that the multiplayer could've been better, I really wish there could've been a way to do 2v2's and the likes on Galactic Conquest but I guess there's only so much you can ask from a game from 2005.

But to summarize, the Empire sure is at war here so the game lives up to its name.

It's a great RTS, combining both space and ground combat and grand-scale warfare, giving you different ways to play this game.
Living the movie through the game from both factions is incredible.
Galactic Conquest was amazingly fun to play, and, although the game is quite old, it's still fun to play to this very day.

One of (if not) my most favorite Star Wars games. The game still holds up even though it has been nearly 20 years (At the time of writing this) and the fact that people will still be on this game and even mod it to give an even better experience, is just the cherry on top.

Developer still updating the game specifically for modders.

EAW Remake mod brings the whole thing up to date, albeit with minor rough UI edges.

If EaW didn't have Star Wars stuff in it, I'd hate it because this style of RTS with population caps and capture points really isn't my thing, but the space battles really are something to behold. It's still supported and patched all these years later, even with Workshop support. The ground battles sucked even in 2007 so they suck even more now but, outside of a handful of occaissions in the campaigns, you're never forced into them. Galactic Conquest is where the heart of this game is anyway, which is essentially campaign mode but without the fluff and more open-ended.

Anyway... 18 years old?! Time, please stop it. Seriously, stop it lol.

the base game is not bad and really for an RTS of its time is extremely well put together. HOWEVER the main reason this game is great is the amazing modding community and all the things they do. My personal favorite is the Thrawns revenge mod and what Corey and his team does is amazing but there are plenty of mods to make the game super fun for anyone trying to get into it.

I miss this aspect of the Star Wars EU. This game was by far one of my favorites and the hours played on my Steam account are dwarfed in comparison to the physical copy I had for many years before I migrated from a CD drive.

Empire at War is an enjoyable RTS set in the Star Wars universe. If you played (or heard) of Galactic Battlegrounds, then you can consider this game it's spiritual successor. The game it not very deep but offers two or three playable factions, depending on which version you choose, and lends itself to a challenging experience.

The game has skirmishes (less fun for me) and the Galactic Conquest (more fun) and the Conquest features 55 planets and plenty of ways to expand your influence while you dominate the galaxy.

Gameplay is divided into space and ground battles. You'd be better off hitting the auto-resolve button for ground combat because it can be a slog. It has it's moments when you have good army composition, but it is otherwise too slow for my liking.

Space battles are the fun part. You can control fleets of your favorite ships and run roughshod over your foes, and the tactical options in space outweigh ground by a metric ton. Your capital-class ships have hardpoints for lasers, missiles, engines, shield generators, turbolasers, etc., and you can slowly whittle down your opponent's biggest ship by stripping it of all offensive capability. You can also halt an enemy's retreat by gutting their engines and forcing them into a losing engagement, and you can neutralize their fleet's biggest threat by nipping the proton torpedo launchers with an alpha strike (highly recommended).

As an added bonus, there is Steam Workshop support and a slew of mods that make the game easy to come back to in the long run. You'd do right by jumping in and giving it a shot.

My Childhood. How could I forget such a game, truly one of the greats! Always has me coming back even after a few decades it still is best Star Wars RTS.

The best Star Wars Rts that exists in this world in only the main game you could get bored after time but there are over 1000 mods for the game that not only makes the game looks cooler but brings completly new units in the game just like its another game 10/10

This game is AWESOME. With mods this game become's my childhood dream game. Watching AT-ATs and AT-STs crush rebels and huge fleet battles with star destroyers and Victory classes is awesome. I love this game.

Really fun strategy game but 80% of gamers would not like and after 20 hours unless you have friends to do multiplayer this game requires mods such as Thrawns revenge and fall of the republic to be enjoyable.

Marking this review in the vain hope that EA/Disney will allow Petrogylph to make a PROPER sequel to this masterpiece.

The fact this game retains thousands of players nearly 20 years later should be enough to sell you on it. The workshop has many mods that do WONDERS to dramatically or fundamentally change and improve the game.

Played this off and on since 2006 and easily have thousands of hours accumulated in it. As a Star Wars or RTS fan you can't find a better game to spend $20 on.

If your a star wars fan and love to control ISD's and conquer the galaxy this game is for you. Lots of great mods that expand gameplay.

If you want to do star wars RTS Space/Ground Battles, this is THE game. Plenty of mods to fit every wish you could have. Good fun.

Star Wars Empire At War is a real time strategy game. Star Wars Empire At War is set in the Star Wars galaxy. That's two thumbs up in my book.

Great strategy game. Vanilla is old and dated, but the fact that it allows mods has made it one of the best startegy games out there.

best game ever. the space fights are great the modding is amazing and not to mention the ground fights or the game devs still work on this game like 20 years later over best game ever but one downside is that the way you use mods is just kind of confusing aka you have to go into the propertys and add a "steam code" thingy and so its kind of annoying but after its done once you know what to do after that but like i said BEST game ever!

this game it really good if you you're a fan of star wars and like rts game i have nothing to say except buy this game even if you think the content in this game it too short you still can find a plenty of a really good mod that can change your perspective about this game 9/10 for me but i really can't say too much about rts game to be honest this game it a only one of a few rts game that i play i don't know if it mean i had a bad taste in rts game or this game just that good

Even though this game is very outdated it is good on it's own. With mods its significantly greater. Lots of great mods out there worth checking out. This star wars game is basically for people who want a pure space battle strategy game. Where you control any amount of small to large star wars warships, with great cinematic views for those screenshots.
