Super Dungeon Run is a fast paced, addictive action game in which you guide a party of hapless heroes on a quest for loot in the depths of a dark and dangerous dungeon!
You’ll always start off with a small group of peasants. Here they are, the little scamps:
The peasants aren’t… how shall I put this… the smartest of individuals, but they’re a merry bunch and are always eager to please! They like nothing better than a good dungeon run, but sadly, they’re not very good at it.
That’s where you come in! Try and get them to the exit stairs safely. Everything else is a bonus as far as I’m concerned!
- Super Dungeon Run is a massively single player roguelike RPG! It is designed to be accessible and addictive. It’s part Diablo, part Temple Run and part Pikmin.
- Different every time! Semi-procedural levels mean no two dungeon runs will be the same.
- Epic equipment! Unlocking new outfits and potions for your heroes will greatly improve their strength and capabilities, allowing them to get deeper into the dungeon for greater rewards.
- Deadly traps and dangerous monsters! Encounter all manner of creatures and contraptions that are focused solely on your premature demise in a variety of violent (and usually messy) ways.
- Multiple dungeon types! Discover multiple dungeons and their various inhabitants, such as the musty, mildewy cellar, or the eerie, enigmatic crypt.
- Exciting content! Complete quests for colourful characters or see how far down into the dungeon you can make it. Will you discover what lurks in the deep dark depths?
- Get loot! Make your fortune by pilfering gold from the dank denizens of the dungeon and discover valuable materials to craft upgrades for your heroes.
- Level up your party! Gain experience and stop your heroes from spectacularly dying in the dungeon… for a while anyway!
As it is now, Super Dungeon Run is completely playable from start to finish (as well as being hugely fun). By releasing initially through Steam’s Early Access, we gain the opportunity to fully flesh out the game as we envision it. We plan to expand the game in the following ways:
- Graphics - Adding dynamic lighting and shadows will not only make the game look fantastic, but will also open up new gameplay possibilities; traps may be hidden in the darkness and monsters will lurch at the party from the shadows.
- Outfits - New costumes for your heroes to wear!
- Magic - New magic! Imagine raining down a meteor storm on your enemies, or frying them with a lightning strike!
- Enemies - Expect to see more rank and file creatures as well as unique boss monsters!
- Environments - New monsters will need new places to call home, so adding more dungeon types is a no-brainer.
- Quests - A greater variety of quests increases the lifespan of the game and keeps things fresh and interesting.
- Abilities - New abilities and special moves for the heroes. Anyone familiar with skills in MOBAs or MMOs will immediately understand how these would work and how they can introduce endless tactics and strategies.
- Deaths - Super Dungeon Run should be funny even when your heroes die. If you’ve seen the cartoon violence of Itchy and Scratchy, you’ll know what we mean!
- Steamworks - Steam specific content like achievements and trading cards as well as Linux and Mac versions of the game.
We really want to make Super Dungeon Run the very best game we can for you guys, so please support us by telling other people about it! The more successful the game is, the more we can keep updating it! And don’t forget to hit 'follow' for updates!
We are also very keen to hear your thoughts and feedback about Super Dungeon Run, so please feel free to post in the Community Hub! We'll be keeping a close eye on it, so you can be sure we'll see your messages!

Unfortunately short in duration but a lot of fun. This game will likely never be developed past its current stage, because of the death of its developer. But it's a lovely gift that they've left us.
Super dungeon Run is a nice little time waster. In all honesty i did stop playing after a few hours when i first picked up the game, but recently came back to it looking for something i didn't need to commit a lot of time to where i could step away for a few weeks and come back without trying to remember where i left off.
Sadly the lead developer had apparently passed away so it looks unlikely to ever come out of early access despite its potential, but for what it is its still a nice little addition to my collection.
Everyone who would consider buiying that game, PLEASE DON'T. This is not a bad review. The game is far from bad. It's actually amazing ! The concept is novel and super fun. Sadly enough though, the developer of this game passed away. It is detailed in the following link that he was the developer of this game and how he died : https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/253787/Obituary_Game_developer_Stewart_Hogarth.php
Unfortunately despite many attempts, Steam refuses to consider putting up that information in at least the news feed of the game, and at best in a banner over the Purchase banner on the page of the game. I think it would give closure to those who are still hoping any update from that game as it seems the company didn't have the heart to put someone else on the project or do the announcement themselves !
Fun little casual game - you'll get plenty of time worth of enjoyment for the measly $5 you'll spend.
"Early Access Game" is misleading, as development has actually stopped - apparently because of the death of one of the lead devs. However, unlike most early access games on Steam, I've never encountered a bug, and there's plenty of content for the game to be fun for a few hours.
This is a CASUAL game, not a Hardcore game - mechanics aren't designed to be incredibly deep, and will likely become annoying if you take it too seriously. Simply moving the peasants through doorways, will see a few get stuck in the doorway. Many traps are unavoidable - many instakill - etc. Map designer was clearly PMS'ing when making the maps. It's ok. They're only peasants - no one actually cares about peasants. Even though peasants die super quick, you're often given replacements for the ones who derp into death, so runs can easily last as long as you want them to.
What do you do - you control a group of peasants - useless little creatures as they are - to run dungeons filled with traps. While all traps are certainly gay, I do literally mean the kill people kind.
The gimmick with this game, is that it'll feel like herding cats, as the peasants will crowd around + follow where you move + hold down the left mouse button. In fact, holding and releasing the left mouse button will help to clump them together a little better - useful in helping to control them. Being peasants, they'll *Happily* suicide themselves into fire, walk into exploding barrels, infinite arrow traps, etc, if you don't carefully control them to avoid such things. Your goal is to reach the deepest level of dungeon possible.
You will lose large numbers of worthless peasants along the way, as many of the traps, majority even, are insta-kill traps - AND many of them are unavoidable.
At the start of each floor, and upon completing one, you may be given "outfits", so your peasants may visually appear to not be terrible - they still are, they're still peasants underneath those clothes after all. These outfits, however, do increase the abilities/survivability of the peasants, helpful in reaching deeper floors. Your peasants are also able to become slightly less useless, when they level up from killing enemies you will discover in your dungeon crawling.
Leveling up your account, done based on score made during dungeon crawling, will unlock various things - general "outfit" improvement - attack faster, more health, more damage, etc - and other misc things like starting floor, or group size.
Another nice thing about this game, is that you're able to activate/de-activate w/e you don't want. Like, I've turned off all outfits except the mage+knight - and every potion that isn't the health potion.
It would be nice if that could affect the dungeon as well, because I'd disable spike + fire traps - because no, none of that ever again, but sadly unable to do so. Not a big deal, if a peasant is dumb enough, even while being blessed w/ my guidance, to still walk into those kinds of traps, he obv deserved it. Darwin sometimes has his way after all.
If you wanna try the game is fine, it's really enjoyable, but it's not finished, sadly the developer passed away. you can buy it but you need to know the state of the game and why.
Firstly....... and i cannot stress this enough......
IGNORE THOSE REVIEWS ABOUT THE GAMES DEVELOPMENT ENDING PREMATURELY!!!!!
There is a very good reason for this.....
On that point let me get into my opinion of this game as it is.
It had great potential and in and of itself is a pretty good timekiller with a decently difficult learning curve and the gameplay isnt very forgiving. Graphics and soundtrack are great as well......
If you've read this far, then the reason this game has stopped development is because the developer passed away.....
Please see this Steam forum link for more info....
https://steamcommunity.com/app/382480/discussions/0/133256240734226833/
So NO!!! this game wasnt abandoned, and personally i believe if Stewart was still alive this game would be absolutely Amazing...
Anyway thats my rant over, just fed up of all these reviews saying this game was abandoned.........
the reason game never finished development - developer passed away
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/253787/Obituary_Game_developer_Stewart_Hogarth.php
this information was shared via someone in the forums via megalomanium
as without him shareing this information we would have never known what really happened.
so please pass this along to everyone whos saying the game was abandoned as thats untrue...
the game was not abandoned its far from it, the developer who was the head of the game passed away, and it would seem from the word the team disolved when this happened sadly.
this is the second time ive heard of an developers passing which is truely sad, yet to make matters worse noone spread the word via the forums so we never actually knew what happened.
now that we know we must spread the word, and change the hate into something better.
The lead Developer passed away so this is why everything grinded to a halt.
It's still a great game for what it is.
Hey - Try this game out. A fun rouge-like game whitch puts a new spin with them. Alothough leveling is verry easy, whitch makes the questing side of it verry easy and boring to grind (As this is your main way of leveling). I think that the game needs more potions (Movement Speed) And possibly not unlocking stuff after every level up just because I feel that you unlock stuff way too quickly (Especialy with the quests being quite easy to grind after a while). It has a great early game when it tests out the skils of the player but later on it just tests the players grinding ability. Possibly a way to counter this is to make the quests single use only. or making "hardmode quests" where they are well harder.
This game is in early access and probably will never see the light as a finished product since the Head-Designer of the game passed away as i just read. Even though the content is limited this nevertheless is a good game worth its money. 7/10.
Do NOT buy this game. It has been abandoned by the developers since 2015. Otherwise it is a fun game. But not enough content for 5€.
Edit:
Apparently the head developer passed away and that is why the game hasn't been updated.
This is a fun and somewhat addictive game, both appealing and engaging. My kids both love it and probably have put in more hours than I have at this point. That said, it is fairly short and it was no real trouble to unlock everything. Great for a fun diversion. But know that the developer died so the game is unlikely to ever leave early release: what you see is what you get.
A solid little game thats fun to wile away the time with when you have a few moments spare.
And for those giving the game a thumbs down (for 'abandonment' by the developer) Stewart Hogarth, passed away in September 2015 from congenital heart disease. So it's kinda difficult for him to 'keep developing the game'....
For anyone stumbling across this game within the depths of Steam, do not buy.
This project is dead, the forums are dead, the dev that had been updating the game is no longer a part of Proper Games, and thus no longer works on the game. It's unclear if someone else was supposed to take over, but no one ever did and the game now sits in limbo. Avoid this.
I really love this game, but honestly there are some things that get me very frustrated... first off is the control speed of the villagers... WAY to fast... I am constantly running into things and my villagers get left behind and I have to run back and grab them, which takes time off my level completion and I get a bad rating at the end of the level. so in all fairness you should reduce the speed a bit so you have a more fairer of a chance. Also another point I would like to make out is the fact that when I am running so fast, I end up running into a fire pit and all my men die... now honestly how is that enjoyable?
Also I find it very frustrating that because they move so fast I also find it hard to hit the pots and crates because there moving all around so fast in so many different directions. On another note I would like to add that trying to complete the level as fast as the default time is set for is a bit unfair considering I cant rush to break all the barrels and crates and again keep track of and control my people and then rush to find the exit all in 55 secs or whatever and fail the level and only get 2 stars... that needs to be increased by like a min for all levels and runs because it was a miracle when I was able to get 3 stars considering, Again Im not going to be able to enjoy the game if I cant take my time or at the very least not have to feel rushed and then i miss things and get frustrated because of it.
Alright so overall the games amazing, literally been playing it for a while now, and On a more positive note.. the games interface and gameplay is very much enjoyable. I enjoy the enemies and the crafting system and grinding system as well. this is defiantly a game for the price that I would recommend, dispite my negetive comments about the game. this game plays out very well and just needs to be tweaked a bit, perhaps the ability to add in a little bit of magic, some new spells would work out great for this game. my last suggestion would be to have some type of Co op mode because this game should be also playable with friends, also some in game voice chat would be awesome too!
Fast paced sprint through deathtrap dungeons to complete missions and gather loot. The loot is spent on unlocking new classes and gear in a very superficial and linear fashion. Very arcade in feel but delightfully charming!!
A very fun and enjoyable game!
I would love to recommend this game. It costs about the same as i spend on coffee per day. Unfortunately, It also lasts about as long aswell.
I have completed the game ENTIRELY, everything unlocked, every quest completed multiple times, Its just too damn short.
Okay, so its an alpha/beta game at the moment and the bugs are minimal (i counted 3 in my entire play through) and they arent game breaking but still, this game is in desperate need of more quests, characters and items.
I can't honestly recommend the game in its current state, It has potential but until the devs think of a way to improve the path finding of characters and add a CONSIDERABLE amount of content, even at such a cheap price it just isnt worth it.
I find my units die most often from an unspoken pyromaniac laced love then anything else, though the archers do love a good arrow to the face.
In all seriousness this game is adorable. It is already well polished and extremely playable. The premise is simple, you're helping a group of dimwitted gold obsessed peasants navigate a dungeon to get all the loot. You use your left mouse and move them around herd style. You can unlock additional character classes via the town which then have a chance of discovering in a dungeon run via costumes in chests. The art style is cute, the animation is adorable and while I sometimes would lose half my party due to drift when I had to take a sharp corner, I never felt like the game was being unfair or cheating me in any way.
The game is more than reasonable at its current price and I look forward to seeing what other additional content the developers put in between now and official release.
10/10 would accidentally steer my group of cosplaying peasants into a spiked barrel again.
I bought this game after i saw a video of it online and i love it. Altough i think its great it still has some downsides i want to list.
- not enough upgrades (5 upgrades per character)
- upgrades not visible (would be cool to see some changes to the characters after upgrading)
- the resource balance is broken (the first 20 lvls you are always hurting for something after that you have tons of that stuff and cant even spent it)
- you are somewhat forced to do the same dungeon over and over again because the quest dungeons never change and you dont want to miss out on the extra XP because this will be your limiting factor after lvl 20
Everything else seems fine to me for an Early Access Game. I played it for about 4-5 hours and could finish the Game (all upgrades /lvl 32) in 1 more hour. So you get about 1hr of Gametime per buck which is a realy good deal. Plus you can play freemode without quest and random generated dungeons to see how far you can go.
Super Dungeon Run is a simple one-button mouse dungeon rush with a lot of fun features, such as:
- Variety of loot to collect.
- Leveling yourself and also your heroes.
- Craft new potions, units, items.
- Main quest and side quests.
- Talent tree.
[*]Accessible price.
The game seems to be a little easy by now. But, hey, it's an early access game. Difficult and other things might change.
In general I'd recommend you to buy this game since this concept is awesome and I'm really looking forward for it's final version.
