This game, even tho it's old and it shows a bit, still has a lot of potential for casual play, since you'll find yourself entertained by how simple and relaxing it is, specially thanks to its soundtrack which is very good for a game, again, this simple.
This BAL also sees the inclusion of appeal to the series, which becomes a major factor when deciding where to place your buildings, the efficency ones, in particular, are a major concern cause they decrease the appeal of nearby houses and also its rent. This is further expanded in the sequels (particularly Power Source). Parks, on the other hand increase the overall appeal, and you can also do this by painting and landscaping your houses.
The campaign is good, and gets challenging as you progress, specially if you want to do them in the shortest time possible. I would understand having to buy blueprints first to make all buildings can be a bit annoying, in casual mode in particular, specially for someone who plays Power Source (the 4th game) where this is no longer the case.
If you like city-planning and want a fun time to relax a bit from school, college, work, etc, this game could be for you.
Quick Score: 5.5/10 (Works mostly fine on Windows 10, haven't crashed for me unlike Power Source)

This game is a ton of fun. You purchase properties, some have homes some do not. You have goals given to you by the Mayor, and you may set some of your own additionally. The object of course, is to make the most amount of money by collecting the most rent. You will want to create the most attractive and functional community possible, collect lots of rent, build specific homes and businesses, some of them requiring paint and some landscaping as well to accomplish the goals you are assigned as well as the ones you may set for yourself. Enjoy!
