Final Approach

This game is still amazing even eight years after launching. I can't believe it hasn't been ported to the Quest platform. Surely it would sell really well on there.
Steam is incorrectly showing that I've only played four hours of this game; I've actually played tens of hours. I've had this game pretty much since it launched back when I had the original HTC Vive. I've since placed it on Vive Pro, and more recently via Steam Link on the Quest 3 and most recently using the PSVR2 adaptor. It looks even better on these higher resolutions. Highly recommended.

I could not recommend this enough. It's charming, the gameplay is simple, yet sometimes hectic fun, and frankly, out of all the VR games i've played, having the player towering above a lovely miniature enviroment, surrounded by cute little aircraft flying around them is the best use of 3D i've ever seen.

Oh, and before i forget: There's a bit of a story, too! It's not RDR2 or anything, but hey, fully voiced characters and some interesting objectives to mix up the gameplay.

I can't help but grin like a madman while playing this. I'd give it two thumbs up, but it doesn't do individual finger tracking, so instead i'll happily wave my hands at it and tell you to buy it this very instant.

This is a great game.; however, all the other scenarious are really just prep for Airport Overload. This game should have started with Airport Overload and capitalized on that @#@$ to the moon and back. AO was and is one of my favoirite things to do in VR. It is Zen. It is difficult. It is 360degrees. Highly underrated game. I'm not saying the other stuff isn't fun; it is, but Airport Overload would be great as a standalone. You have to land 50 aircraft -from passenger jets to helicopters to small airplanes, a few military planes, without crashing one or crashing any into each other. No putting out fires or aliens or any of that other stuff. Just constant aircraft needing to land, refuel and change passengers, and takeoff without running into each other. So you're managing all the aircraft in the sky, the 3 runways and several helipads, and managing planes on the ground to get to the terminals, then taking everything off when done. If one aircraft crashes into the ground or hits another aircraft, you're done and must start over. Airport Overload is a total blast, and 2 years in it remains one of the most fun things I've ever done in VR. The only bummer? It stops at 50 aircraft serviced. This scenario should be able to be played to 100 aircraft, or 1000...or be able to go indefinitely until you crash something. Seriously. Devs, deepest respect because this game is !@#$ing AWESOME!,,,but, Airport Overload should have been the hook for this game. If you ever throw anything else out for this game, that would be my ask, Unlimited Airport Overload.

Would you like to feel like a giant who's telling planes where and how to fly? Would you like to shoot cheeky little UFOs who're trying to steal your citizens? Would you like to crash the goddamn planes STRAIGHT TO HELL?? Then this games is for you!

At first glance it looks like a mobile game or something really shallow and simple. On the contrary! There are a lot of missions and they all have a good variety of objectives.

The graphics are fairly cheap but there still is quite a bit of detail to the maps and some aircraft look awesome. I adore the diorama-esque view that you can get in VR and this game really takes and runs with it.

This isnt a half assed release or demo of a real game that will never come, its a fully fleshed out VR title.
Not a TON of replayability but definitely accommodates those who would like to take another stab at a mission.

I whole heartily recommend it and fingers are crossed for a sequel!
This game is a blast for all ages. It does get a little challenging towards the end!

This game is an example of some of the creative new genres being made possible by VR. The core of the game is built around air traffic control and guiding planes through landing and take off while keeping them from crashing into each other. Sounds kind of "plane" but its actually a lot more fun than it sounds.

The gameplay is quite original. You use your hand to touch planes and draw a line in the air to give them a flight path. Better keep the lines smooth and the turns gradual or they might crash. A small plane might be able to make a tight turn but a jumbo jet can't. There are also lots of mini games you have to keep on top of to keep things running like loading bags into the right carts, shooing birds off the runway and putting out the occasional engine fire. On the Navy fleet level you can defend the fleet with some anti-aircraft guns.

There are quite a few locations and levels. From the lonely island airport to the international airport, to the big city, to the navy fleet. The first levels are easy and laid back but as you progress youve got to handle things quickly. There are always multiple things going on at once at the international airport. Once youve mastered the missions the challenge levels will definitely keep you busy. They take a lot of effort to perfect.

The visuals are as good as the video and screenshots indicate. Even though it is cartoony looking it is still highly detailed. You'll find yourself kneeling down to the floor occasionally to look at all the tiny buildings and structures.

Overall this game is a great value for it's current price of $15. My friends and I have spent almost 10 hours on this game and still haven't seen everything yet. It's one of the more unique games on VR and one I keep coming back to from time to time.

This game is a ludicrous amount of fun and seriously evokes that feeling of having your own little living toybox in front of you.

If you've ever played the mobile game Flight Control, you already know what to expect here. There's an airport, there are planes in the air, get them on the ground without killing anyone. It's such a simple concept but in VR it just takes on a whole new lease on life. Ever aerial vehicle in the game is no more than 2 inches big and because of how VR works, it genuinely looks like someones breathed life into some adorable toys.

It's fun, it's challenging, it's gorgeous. With so many little extra mechanics added on to add a little flavour to your gameplay. Plane landed because of a fire? Shrink yourself down onto the tarmac, grab a hose and put it out. Generator died? Get one of your resident repair choppers to airlift it out and replace it with a new one.

Don't want to go through the campaign? That's fine too. There's all kinds of extra challenge missions to complete, including repelling an alien attack while guiding aircraft through to safety.

These devs have made a wonderful experience and quite honestly at a fantastic price point too. For the content present, you get more than your moneys worth. I cannot reccomend it enough. :D

Great VR game!

This is a really fun game, I feel like a kid playing with toy aircraft. My favourite map is the city with all the heliports and helicopters, it reminds me of SimCopter.

Don't think that the game is easy, it's not. And you will twist, turn and jump around trying to manage all the aircraft. Many souls have perished during my game runs...

There's also plenty of content and some unexpected side jobs besides "controlling" aircraft.

Oh wow, I finally got to play this version with the Oculus Touch and this is really impressive. It's a toybox fantasy - think of those tilt-shift timelapse videos that make cityscapes look like tiny train-set environments. This has that vibe going on, with tiny, beautiful, immaculately detailed aircraft flying around your head (with really nice positional sound - you know exactly where everything is by audio alone). I haven't played a whole lot yet, and the store screenshots concern me that the missions might get gimmicky, but I don't care because I can see myself just chilling and playing the freeplay mode for hours on end. As a VR experience, this is delightful and well worth the bucks just because of all the tiny little planes and how satisfying it is to be among them, guide them smoothly home, and miscalculate their flight dynamics horribly, leaving them to explode into the ground with horrifying regularity. I really don't see how there hasn't been an investigation into these incidents yet.

Final Approach is one of those games where you have to act like the air traffic controller in an airport. What really sets it apart is obviously the virtual reality interface. It's hard to explain, but this is one VR game that really puts you in the middle of the action. You feel like a colossus with tiny planes like insects buzzing past your ear. It's one of my favourite VR games.

Really fun game, great graphics, easy to learn but gets challenging. I love the feeling of being a giant and seeing little planes flying around my head and looking down at all the little people. You also get to shrink down to a normal sized person to put out fires, scare seagulls, and sort luggage. I highly recommend every Vive owner to get this game!

This game is quite fun, but you have to spend a while adjusting the Vive's headset to be able to reliably look down. I really wish that this game would do what Tabletop Simulator did, which is include a height adjustment option. Even with that though, the game is quite entertaining, and definitely one of the better games on the market for VR right now.

edit: A developer has commented that apparently there IS a height adjustment! This is great because not only is my issue resolved, but they care enough about thier product to monitor the Discussions. All this serves as even more of a reason to get this game, if only to support good customer service, lol

One of the best games I have played on the VIVE to date. Very impressed guys. Very impressed indeed. When are you recreating a VR version of Age of Empires?? (Now that would be an awesome feat).

This game reminds me of a mobile game I used to enjoy a bit. I really like seeing all of the little details. The controls can be a little confusing at times, but overall the game is great fun, and one of the more feature complete titles out currently.

A tip though, I was having some problems with neck strain with looking down the whole time, until I realized you can open up the room settings in game and bring the floor up. Highly recommend doing this to save yourself from constantly having to hang your head down to see what's going on. After figuring this out, this game jumped up to the top for me. Must have!

This is my favorite VR experience so far. The sense of immersion is amazing! You really do feel like there are these little toy planes flying all around you, and it's a lot of fun to direct them all where to fly and land. Overall the most polished game I've played on the vive so far. Screenshots do not do this game justice! This game also showcases what the vive (and VR in general) can do for tabletop-like game. As you're standing there directing the planes where to land and looking down at the "ground", it reminds me of standing over a table top game and reaching for pieces to move, except the pieces in this game are planes buzzing around your head!

This game is a very pleasant surprise. There is more substance than you think, which is badly needed in the somewhat thin early-stages of VR game selection.

You play a traffic controller role, along with some various other tasks that get thrown at you. Switching between the god-like overview, to a ground cam when a situation presents itself.

Its pretty unique for this space atm and well worth a look.

Oh man, the videos really do no justice to this masterpiece. I decided to give it a try seeing so many positive reviews both here and on reddit, and from the very moment I started the tutorial I was grinning like an idiot. This is the most fun I've had in VR so far!

This game a lot of fun and, so far, it seems like the most polished vive release. It's a complete game and not just a demo or early access. Watching little planes fly around your head feels surreal. Also, I'm really glad they put in a full tutorial, I'm suprised how many games have skipped this part.

Final Approch is more than it seems on the first sight. First i thought it is one of those mobile games where you have to guide planes without crashing them and was pretty sure that i will get a refund after trying it. I was wrong.

This game has a lot to do and the missions are very varied. The graphics are very good and just fit the game and VR. It seems also like a very complete game and not like one of the many overpriced tech-demos. VR is very well integrated into the game it's not only fun to look at your airport but also to do the short mini missions in 1st person. When doing the mini missions the game doesn't stop and you can see all the things happening arround you. If you are in doubt, try it and get a refund if you don't like it.

I think this game deserves more attention.

I actually feel bad now about waiting to buy this for $20. This game is so much better than what I was expecting. The detail, my gosh, the detail. I was blown away by the opening screen, even. The menus are gorgeous and perfect for VR, the planes look amazing, and there is a surprising amount of variety in the gameplay.

This game is SO MUCH MORE than simply drawing flight routes for planes to land (a-la Air Control for mobile platform). That's what I was expecting, and it's there, but oh my, it's only a tiny part. This is a perfect example of a game that doesn't convey it's beauty from demo vids or pictures. Maybe consider releasing a short demo of the first mission? I bought this because it looked interesting, the dev seemed really nice from interviews before Vive release, and I really appreciated their communication about the initial sticker shock and subsequent price drop.

Had I known the game was this polished, with so much variety, I would not have cared about the aforementioned reasons for the purchase. This game is a blast, plain and simple. Can't wait to get out of work so I can get back to it!
