Early Access
So...25 Levels to start...and 5 Bosses.Hmmm...Not Enough.
So This Is Why We Are Here....Early Access It Is.
We wanted to create a community not just behind this game but behind us as a company. With Early Access, we are able to show the players the amount of work that goes into making a game.
We greatly benefit from the feedback we get from the players, as it has allowed us the ability to grow this game into something much larger then it began.
We hope you join our studio in our game making venture. Galagan's Island ~ Reprymian Rising is just the first of many titles to come.
We will be adding a Co-Op Mode.
More enemies, more ships, bigger bullets, bosses, bigger bosses, sometimes even mini bosses....and man more powerups!
This Is All Very New to Us.
We are really excited to start to grow this game further with you the players.
I hope we did this right. LOL
If not...well we will be updating this thing constantly anyway.
Pricing
Early Access Will Run $4.99 US
Upon full completion the sale price will be raised.
If this game does not yet satisfy you...making it cheaper won't fix that...making the game better will....so we will commit to that.
I would say that likely someday down the road...we'd do a bundle...I mean...I like Christmas too!
So That's It For Now.
Let's Go Blow Some Stuff Up.

Improved version of Galaga, it's a fun game to pass the time
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

This is an Early Access Review so you should take what I say here with a large grain of salt.
The number 1 thing you will notice about this game is, upon booting, it will ask you to define your joystick keys. Maybe I should have taken this as a hint that the controls were going to be difficult without one although I'm not sure what they are thinking with the control scheme anyways. Moving forward takes ages and feels like you're trying to wade waist-deep in mud. It takes a full 5 seconds for the ship to reach the top of the screen. Also if you let go of forward, you fly at mach 2 to the bottom of the screen which makes moving around in a bullet-hell shooter a complete nightmare. There is a "Hover" button, but you have to hold it down and if you're firing, each bullet sends you backwards a little bit. Maybe in the beginning default control scheme I should have picked something there. But the problem is that I didn't want to scroll through and understand and research 30 undefined joystick buttons.
Also, as far as I could tell, there is no way to close the game or exit other than Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Clearly there's some much needed work on the controls.
Gameplay seems alright, there doesn't seem to be much of a curve, it feels like they started me at what would be considered level 100 of Nomltest. There is a "Boss Rap" which I thought was hilarious (Lyrically and because it comes out of NOWHERE). But then there's another rap during the credits and I got the creeping feeling that maybe they weren't being ironic.
There's also weapons, and these wierd "pools" that seem to imply they are power ups. But they didn't work. You can hold a button and they go away, but otherwise don't appear to have an affect on gameplay.
Weapons are sparse, when you get one, it is fun to use. I like that I'm able to see inside the ship when the spread gun is picked up. Oddly enough the ship can do a spin around and fire, which is incredibly useful, but it only does that when you get hit and you have a GIGANTIC health bar. Maybe they want you to get hit a bunch and make it less about dodging and more about mitigating your damage.
I'm going to keep checking out this game as it develops further because I have a soft spot for the genre and I think this could turn out pretty good. If it does, awesome! I can always update my review.
Worth the $0.64 I paid for it.
I love a good challenge and I love a good space shooter.
With that being said, I feel like there's a bit too much going on in this one. The screen gets overfilled with enemies and shots being fired at you very fast, and you don't even get a chance to dodge anything. At least you don't die immediately when you're shot, which is good. But I generally am not enjoying this. Yes, make it a challenge, but this is just straight up unfair, even compared with other space shooters out there.
The Title was enough to win me over, I loved Galaga as a kid and still do, plus Gilligan's Island is just some fun campy nostalgia
The gameplay is fantastic and actually has a fairly unique flight mechanic; unusual to see innovation in the genre but always welcome
The Music is good overall and the boss music is FANTASTIC
Visually the game takes sprites that would be low quality on their own and makes them look fantastic
Be Warned: One life, no continues, this game is hard
2/10, no Gilligan's island (yet..?)
Keep up the good work!
Can't recommend.
Runs in slow motion most of the time, especially at level start. Thats at lowest settings. Admittedly my laptop is not the fastest but it can run "Crimzon Clover" without any troubles, also "Saviors" which also has been made with unity, i believe. Both games are shmups with much better graphics than this.
Also that christmas theme... ...dont force stuff like that on your players.
Real fun game. Acid Jazz is a really underapreciated genre that doesn't get a lot of exposure outside of very underground Chinese image boards such as /mu/. I thinking a light to strong 8. Galaga.......forever.
'Galagan's Island: Reprymian Rising' is a schmup/shooter that is still in Early Access, however while it is a complete game with 25 levels and 5 end bosses the developer is busy working on alot more levels and more end bosses. The game will be on sell until Dec. 1, 2015 for $1.99.
GAMEPLAY: Your typical schmup with gameplay that is already tight. You can play as a Single Player or Co-Op. While optimised for a control pad (I'm using my Logitech Xbox 360 controller in X Mode) it also works with a keyboard. There are power-ups, and you can link two ships, but you only get one life. You die. You dead. Each enemy target is worth 1 point, but enemy hits to your ship will deduct 10 points from your score. So shoot well. Dodge well. Live long (and prosper).
GRAPHICS: They are quite stunning, with several settings and resolutions to choose from. After I took several screenshots the developer contacted me to try a different setting and resolution. I have captured several screens at various settings and resolutions.
SOUND: Not as stunning as the graphics, but acceptable. As for the songs they are a matter of personal taste.
ACHIEVEMENTS & TRADING CARDS: 34 Achievements just went live, of which I have earned 2*. I only downloaded this game today so give me a break that I haven't earned more. The developer told me that more Achievements and some Trading Cards will be added as more levels and bosses are added. But so far I've only heard of 1 person beating the 25 levels and 5 bosses (one boss after each group of 5 levels) in 'Galagan's Island: Reprymian Rising' as it stands.
EXTRAS: There is a DLC game called 'Galagan's Island: Metagalactic Monstrosities' which requires the first game to be purchased and installed. In this DLC game you play as the 5 bosses. This DLC is FREE with the purchase of 'Galagan's Island: Reprymian Rising OST,' which replaced some of the song tracks of the original version. However the songs swapped out are included as bonus tracks. Currently you must own the original version to buy this version. The OST version is currently on sell for $1.49 until Dec. 1. 2015. So that's two versions of the same game, plus the bonus game 'Galagan's Island: Metagalactic Monstrosities' for a total of less than $3.50. A bargin.
RECENT UPDATES INCLUDE (Developer):
*In response to player feedback, we've turned down the "floatiness" of the player ship movement to tighten up the player's controls and emphasize the bullet-dodging slow motion mechanics of the game.
*Updated controls screen to reflect the hold-to-fire change and added a message to the screen that the game was designed with gamepad in mind and that it is recommended input method.
*Adjusted UI responsiveness.
*Adjusted position of the "Back" option on the Volume Control Slider.
*Added solid black backgrounds behind the Pause and Options UI menus.
*New soundtrack. The songs switched out will stay on the OST as Bonus Tracks.
I bought everything. So $3.50 for two great games and two music options.
Overall I would rate this Early Access version 5.0 out of 5.0. Or, put another way, 10 out of 10. As a member of highscore.com I have requested that this game be added there. I currently have approx. 2,072 High Score Trophies and one Patch. Writing this review you'd be surprised (or not) at how many times I typed 'Giligan's Island' or 'Gilligan's Island.' Ok, I'm a baby boomer in love with Dawn Wells (Mary Ann Sommers), so cut me some slack. :)
* I have now earned 6 achievements and beat the first boss. :)
bullet hell-esk galaga with really good music, and enemy formations with minigame(I only made it to the first checkpoint/boss) its really good time killer for 5$ and with content to soon be added.
pros:
gameplay +co-op *duh*
enemy detail and fx
gameplay feel
music <3
con:
controls are kinda crowed (not too much and isue but its sometimes in the way)
I really recomend this game, has high potental to become greater.
Now to wait for next update o.o
A promising, casual, shoot 'em up game in the style of Space Invaders, or, more recently, Galaga.
Maybe not as intense as Galaga can get on an arcade machine, but when you get down to your last few lives you'll realize you've been transported into a bullet-hell game which takes some effort to stay alive.
It took me over 20 minutes to get to level 11, which shows a good level of content offered for the beginning of Early Access. I could see this game eventually getting 100, or even infinite, levels, but I'd challenge people to get past the ones that are currently available!
