In Slam, you control only one thing - gravity. All you have to do is get the glowing energy crate to the goal - simple enough, until we throw in barrels, sliders, switches, magnets, teleporters and a whole host of other mechanics that turn difficult puzzles into near-impossible ones.
Take on the challenge of solving over 50 levels - and once you've solved them, try the tougher challenge of solving them in the smallest number of moves.
If you have a HTC Vive, Slam is also playable in VR - walk around the puzzles to try and understand them better, or for a fun new perspective, use the - and = keys to make yourself bigger or smaller.

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers

I got this on sale for .59 cents during the Steam Summer Sale 2019 and it's a pretty good deal at that price. Keep in mind, if you're not a puzzle fan, you probably won't enjoy it no matter how good it may be. I would venture to say that this game is perfect for casual puzzle fans (like me). While some of the levels are tricky, especially if you want to get a perfect 3 star rating, most of the levels are pretty straight forward.
Unfortunately, the VR implementation is not the best. I would have loved to have been able to grab and tilt the table to make the objects go in the direction that I wanted. Instead, you just basically point and click and swipe in the direction you want ... kind of like a mobile game. The good news is that you can set the height and scale for the puzzle table for the perfect VR viewing and you can also teleport around the table for a better view.
Overall, this game is a mobile VR quality game. However, it's still pretty good for what it is. Game took me about 60-70 minutes to complete, without getting full 3 stars on every level (50+ levels)

Slam is a straighforward sliding puzzle game using gravity as the means of moving the puzzle pieces. It was recently updated to include VR and finally left Early Access recently. Although updates were very infrequent I get the sense that this was because the game has been developed by a single individual rater than a team of developers; hence the slow progress. The puzzles start off very simple, but, as you'd expect become more complex as you progress through the levels.
If you already have a good sense of direction and love puzzle games, this game should be pretty easy to beat. The things missing that IMO would improve this game immensly are achievements, the ability to rebind the contols and even better a level editor and maybe a splash of color here and there. You could even add some interesting themed backgrounds rather than the drab grey that we see at present and add trading cards to keep the trading card crowd happy. I'd also add the ability to play your own music as opposed to the dreary background music that we get; which, too be honest becomes rather boring after several minutes of game play.
If the latter (i.e. a level editor) was included and the community were able to share their creations via the Steam workshop, it would add so much more to this game. Maybe we will see these in a future update despite now being fully released (pretty please)? You could even release them as a cheap DLC; I'd definitely be willing to buy it.

This is a great distraction for someone who doesn't want to be shooting things all the time. You can change the scale and height to your liking, from huge floor standing size to handheld or tabletop size. Puzzles are a fun challenge.

Nice, elegant and very polished puzzle game. Slam is short but extremely addictive. You can teleport, but if your space is enough (you can also change the world scale) you can simply walk around your room. Or, and this is my very first time with my Vive, you can sit on the floor or lay down and watch the puzzle like it was on your carpet: fun! Worth his price.
Really fun to play in VR - by setting the height and scale appropriately the levels can be turned into something like a table you can walk around, and it has a great sense of presence. Very simple mechanics, and easy to pick up: every interaction comes by gesturing in a direction, and everything that can move in that direction will do so until it hits something. Most of the puzzles can be solved in multiple ways, so trial and error would be enough if you just want to get through them, but finding the optimal solution for many of them will require more careful thought. I'm a fan of well-designed puzzles that are trivial to pick up but challenging to solve, and this fits the bill nicely.
Not finished it yet in over an hour, so it's definitely better value for money than a cinema ticket when it comes to straight "hours of entertainment per £". Some people will get more gameplay out of it than others of course - personally I'm determined to get all the optimal solutions even if that means spending ages retrying one level over and over. If you only care about finding any solution and then progressing, then you'll get less gameplay out of it, but I'd still say it's easily worth the asking price.
Nice puzzle game. Wished it had a way to raise the play area, my neck started to hurt a bit. Thanks for supporting VR and the Vive!
well if you like games like quell or sokobon clone youre gona love this has 8 chapters with 5 - 8 or more in each one and at the price i can t fault it it is a brill puzzle game simble and hard in further level to get it in the right amount of moves
I did everything I know but Slam just won't stop running on Steam. It has been 48 hours since then and I have not even played a single moment of it. Steam Gods, please help...
Slam is a gravitational puzzler in the sense that the objects on the field slide to the side of the gravity. As a player you control which side of the board the gravity is pulling. It is basicaly a slider puzzle in 3D with some soothing music behind it. You have a target block and a goal tile and they have to be on top of eachother in order to complete the level. The puzzle can be solved in numerous ways but in order to get all the stars you need to find the solution with the least amount of moves (i.e. changes in gravity).
It is currently in Early Access (EA) because the devs want to balance out the puzzles and they thought that EA would then be a good idea. It does mean the game is as good as it is going to get except for some tweaking in the puzzles.
I did enjoy it somewhat. The game looks nice and it is quite satisfying to see the objects slide across and stuff but there is just not to much to it. Some of the puzzles can be really challenging but most can be solves very quickly. I struggled on 2 of the ~25 puzzles that I did. The game slowly tries to ease you into some of the obstacles that pop up but before it gets really tricky, the game moves on to the next stage with new objects and looses the dificulty. I hope this is what gets changes when it gets out of early access.
That being said, I do recommend this game to anyone looking for some light puzzles to solve. Just do not expect to much of a challenge or hours worth of puzzling :)
