Описание

Blockwick is a jumbled world full of colorful blocks. Connect all same-colored blocks on the board. Blue with blue, red with red, and so on. Don’t worry about the white crates though—they just get in the way.

If you get stuck on a puzzle, don’t fret. Just look for the hidden moon pearl. Finding the moon pearl in a puzzle will allow you to open the next puzzle.

The further you progress the more special blocks you’ll meet. Some are bolted down and are permanently stuck. Some blocks are asleep and can’t move until they’re woken up (set down a same-colored block next to it to wake it up). Entangled blocks are connected together by quantum forces—when one moves so do the others. Blocks that are entangled share the same symbol.

Eventually you’ll meet even more devious blocks. Sticky blocks are gooey and will stick to other blocks. You can't pick them up directly; they can only be pushed and pulled around with other blocks and crates. Caterpillar blocks are linked to each other like a train; they can only be moved with the head or the tail. Hypno blocks don’t need to be connected to solve a puzzle, but they’ll cause a lot of pain. The hypno puts any colored block to sleep if you set one down right next to it. Finally, flip blocks have six sides. When you move them, they flip to a different side, exposing a new color.

Oh, did you notice the strange glyphs on the ground? Each puzzle has three. Try to cover them all up with groups of linked blocks to master the puzzle. It’ll be more tricky, but it’s good for your brain.

That’s about it. Have fun!

Very relaxing and creative game. Would love to get Blockwick as well if it is available on Steam.

Ehh, bought this on a whim because I was craving more of these sliding block puzzles & played through all of classic and about half of the actual game but the sticky block mechanic kinda just ruined it for me. Really frustrating and finnick mechanic that can actually lead to softlocks if you mess up certain puzzles in certain ways. And it's not like most of the puzzle designs feel all that clever - they're really messy most of the time with only the occasional puzzle that actually feels tightly and competently designed. Not the worst but I probably shouldn't have bought this in the first place lol. It's fine.

Infuriatingly challenging puzzle game. Video guides were pretty much useless when the person doing them also struggled along the way. Definitely not a game for those who want a quick, somewhat brainless playthrough since you actually need to use your dying brain cells to figure out how to solve the puzzle AND illuminate the level at the same time. Can't believe I sank in so many hours just to figure it all out.

The moon pearl and illumination systems make the game easier or harder in a natural way, so for almost any puzzle solver the game will feel like it's at the right difficulty. There's a lot of puzzles, so even though each puzzle is individually not too difficult, there's at least 20 hours worth of content. Also, when dragging a block around a corner the cornering is quite satisfying.

A very relaxing, zen puzzle game. Low-stress gameplay, calming music, pleasant design aesthetic, satisfying sound design. The puzzles usually feature obvious sub-goals that lead to a steady flow of moments where you feel like you've made progress.

Throughout the game the puzzles feel very well designed. Each chapter introduces a single new mechanic, and while the mechanics are simple they lead to some complex puzzles. Some of the puzzles are quite hard, but every level has an easy sub-objective that allows you to skip it (effectively this just forces you to engage with the level briefly before you can skip). And if you want more challenge, each level has a bonus objective of covering all the symbols with color blocks (although this is only fun on some levels, and you need to fiddle around with the white/gray blocks just to see the symbols).

One gripe: For a game that's more focused on aesthetic than on gameplay, it feels fair to criticize accessibility. Some of the block colors are a bit too close together, especially since the sleep effect changes a block's shade slightly. More glaringly, when white blocks are linked together it is impossible to see the symbols on them (at least on my monitor), so you can only tell which ones are linked by guessing or by trial and error. This problem ironically goes away when the colors darken after you beat the level. There are no options to mitigate either of these problems.

Overall, if you're looking for a fancy, innovative, exciting puzzle game, this isn't it. But if you're looking at something relaxing that can both hold 100% of your attention and keep you busy while watching TV, or just something really calming, this is a good choice.

If you're a serious puzzle gamer, and even if you're just looking for something to kill a few minutes here and there, Blockwick 2 is a good time. The main goal of the game is to match all the blocks of the same color (except for the white "garbage" ones) in a given area. You do this by sliding them around, much like those old sliding-block toys where the goal is to create a picture, except this time both the playfields and the pieces come in many more shapes than just squares.

There are other gimmicks as well: "sleeping" blocks, blocks that can only move as part of a set, block chains (heh), and so on. The sticky and multicolored tumbling blocks are the most frustrating ones to deal with, but they are manageable enough, and not so bad that they made me want to give up on the game.

In general, the puzzles are very well designed, and each one has two secondary goals for completionists. One of these, the hidden pearls, is also useful for when you need to skip a puzzle that's too hard. However, veteran puzzle fans should have little trouble completing the main goals, and the other bonus goal, that involves matching blocks over runes, provides a good bit of challenge.

If I have one complaint (besides certain sometimes annoying special blocks), it's that the difficulty between puzzles is a little uneven, particularly in the "Basics" sets. Otherwise, I found this game to be just what I needed at the time I picked it up. if you're in the mood for a good, low-key puzzle game, I recommend you do the same.

I really like this game! I turn on some great music on my PC, and turn off all sound for Blockwick 2, and then have a nice peaceful experience. The puzzles get harder and harder, and there is more joy when each is solved! Thanks go to the Kieffer Bros, and I hope more creations are coming soon!

Blockwick 2 is an advanced spin on the classic puzzle of moving blocks around a grid to unscramble a picture or pattern sequence. However in B2 you only have to arrange same-color blocks so that they all connect. And while that may sound pretty easy -- and is at Level 1-- it gets a lot more tricky when new kinds of blocks are introduced:

  • blocks required for the solution but are fixed in place
  • blocks that don't touch but move in tandem
  • blocks that form chains and move like a caterpillar
  • rolling blocks whose color is what is currently face up
  • blocks that are only movable after the same color touches them
  • blocks that immobilize colored blocks if they touch
  • [*]sticky blocks that attach to others and have to be peeled off using other surfaces

Combine a bunch of these and you can have a formidable challenge in front of you. Not to mention some puzzles are so tightly packed or have blocks with such odd shapes that getting enough space to move larger ones seems almost impossible. There's also a bonus win scenario called "illumination" where the color blocks are arranged properly but also cover three glyphs on the puzzle. This usually involves quite a bit more experimentation to position the blocks correctly.

I did most of these on my own, but there were many where I had to go to a guide because I didn't want to spend hours trying to figure them out. The game can be a little frustrating in that regard, but there's also a means of skipping a puzzle if it's too hard so you can come back to it later. The interface is smooth and intuitive -- really it's just click-hold a block and drag it around.

If you like puzzle games I highly recommend this, although it will take a LONG time to finish if you are a completionist. The main game has 10 levels and 160 puzzles, but there is also a "Basics" section that adds 144 more, albeit less challenging puzzles that were a part of the first Blockwick game. I didn't bother finishing them because after 27 hours I had my fill! However the full retail price on Steam gets you more than your money's worth.

Rating: 9/10
Puzzle-lovers, this one will not go easy on you! The tranquil mood music and soft, bright beautiful design if perfect for concealing a casual yet devilishly difficult game. You'll be dreaming about colored blocks in your sleep!

There are 304 puzzles in total (plus couple of easy tutorial levels before you start the game.) And unlike a lot of other games they aren't loaded with tons of really easy puzzles so that alone will take a lot of time to work out and finish. If you are looking for a long puzzle game to pick up 10 mins or 1 or 2 puzzles at a time then check this out.

It plays like a slide to exit puzzle game but there aren't any exits. If you aren't worried about getting all achievements then you can just play each puzzle the easy way (well most of the time) and connect the same colour blocks together. If you want more of a challenge then move blocks away to find and reveal all glyphs, you then have to move the colour blocks so they are on top of the glyphs and connected together (illuminate a level). This gets more complicated as the game progresses as sticky blocks, sleepy blocks, move large amount stuck together are introduced.

There is a reset button but also a much needed undo button for one move which seems to be sadly rare in puzzle games but thankfully all bases are covered in this game. I suggest you start with blockwick basics which is a whole game itself - 9 chapters - 144 puzzles. It plays like it was the first game - a bit easier but still, if you go for all illumination in basics (which isn't surprisngly needed for any achievement) it will take you a long time to do.

If you find all pearls (one collectable in each level hidden underneath a block) in blockwick 2 - 9 chapters, then a 10th chapter will become available for you to play. It is very zen somehow moving blocks around and I found myself constantly daydreaming, not because the level was boring but even when I was really stuck it relaxed me somehow and on challenging levels this was good!

Very clever, well thought and unique game and although this is a portal game it never felt or looked like it and although I waited for the summer sale the full price of $8 is worth it as you will get your money's worth out of it - an easy 20+hrs game and unique in having different levels of hardness (just finish level or illuminate it) so you can choose what to do.

N.B for a couple of achs, to get the pearl wall ach, I had to leave game and go back into it before it popped. Also the get every pearl in blockwick ach (all 10 chapters in B2 as well as all 9 chapters in basics) it only popped when I went back into every chapter of both games from main menu.

Probably my favourite puzzle game.

To me, everything about it is perfect -- the graphics, the sounds, the music, the UI, the feel, the difficulty, the variety.

Comes with a set of easy puzzles that you can finish in one sitting (or let your kid play them), and a set of harder ones that will last you a while, plus the optional added challenges of finding all the moon pearls and illuminating (covering) all the symbols.

I’m Surprised I Did Not Find This Sooner

TL;DR
An amazing puzzle game with a modern and clean feel that will certainly steal a good amount of time away from your life.

Blockwick 2 is a game about moving blocks around until all blocks of the same color make contact with each other. Sounds easy but I assure you it's much more complicated than that. Some of the blocks are bolted down and can’t move while others are forced to move when moving a different block. This type of puzzle is not the kind that you end up getting frustrated at when you can’t solve it since the game lets you progress to the next level if you can find the hidden pear in every level. The soundtrack is very nice and goes with the game very well and can even be purchased on Bandcamp if you wish.

I found this in my discovery queue and was instantly reminded of the original Blockwick that I played on iOS a long time ago. Kieffer Bros. has another game on iOS called Aqueduct and that’s how I found out about them. Since I was very familiar with this developer I decided to give this game on steam a try and I think you should to. And if you decide you don’t love this beautiful masterpiece of a game you can always return it if you want, that is if you haven’t played it for too long.

Also really hoping that even though Aqueduct was made natively for iOS and Android I hope that the devs decide to port it over to steam.

I highly recommend this game if you like puzzle games.

-Has many many levels.
-The levels are not too hard and too easy, they are just the right amount of difficulty.
-Every level has two bonus challenges for those looking for added difficulty.
-Many types of blocks that gets you to think differently for each new level.

I can see that the developers really put their hearts into making this game, and even though I've only played 4 hours I already know it was worth the money spent.

A great puzzle game about sliding block in tight spots to group by color.

Where the old Klotski could get repetitive, Blockwick never repeats the same configuration and introduces special blocks to keep things interesting.

Each level has the chance of being solved or illuminated. Even if a level is hard, you can move to the next level if you find a hidden pearl. If you find a hard level you can at least move on and come back later.

The set of Basic levels added after the initial release is easier than the normal levels but they are still some extra fun.

Very recommended if you're the thinker type.

Small cons:

* Undo is limited to one movement. After that there's only the option to restart the level. And even then, this is not too bad since when you're stuck, trying a new fresh solution can be the best idea.
* Music is pleasant but the tracks are short and it will get repetitive. Easy to silence, of course.

An extremely well polished and thought out puzzle game where the objective is to move all the coloured blocks of each colour to be adjacent to each other. Which sounds fairly simple, and it is - at first. As the levels get tighter and tighter and more, larger and strangely shaped blocks appear, and as you move on to later worlds and new types of blocks get added into the mix, again starting simple to show you how they work, then scaling up the difficulty again.

The game creates a good balance of having enough levels for each new mechanic it introduces into the game, and on the right difficulty curve, so as to avoid to much repetition, or the reverse issue (see Maze Lord) of introducing new mechanics too frequently and making too little use of them.

On top of the base gameplay there is also the nice addition of a couple of optional (achievement earning) extras of finding the pearl hidden under one of the blocks starting positions, and completing the level while sitting over 3 symbols marked on the game floor - in the early levels this isn't very much extra work, but on the complicated levels towards the end of each world it can make an already difficult puzzle fiendishly hard, but given they are optional not progression required this seems fine - it is up to you if you want to take on the extra challenge (or do it later).

My only real frustration with the game was the section with the sticky blocks, for some reason that mechanic annoyed me rather than all the rest that just felt like an extra challenge to overcome, I don't know why though.

Overall an excellent puzzle game that is easy to recommend to anyone that likes the genre.

A lot of the time it consists of moving the blocks around, concluding that the level is impossible, then trying a huge range of combinations of moves by trial and error and finding a solution. So a lot of the time it is just frustrating, but some of the time it is satisfying and some of the time it is clever. Since I did actually complete all the puzzles I guess I must have liked it enough to deserve a thumbs up.

TL;DR at the bottom of the review

Blockwick 2 is a puzzle game with simple but aesthetically pleasing visuals where you move around various blocks to try to connect blocks that are alike in color. There are various worlds/chapters/sections, with new types of blocks introduced every so often to make the puzzles more difficult to solve.

I found, overall, that this is a challenging but entertaining puzzle game! I really enjoyed the concept and the new mechanics as they were introduced. The goals and instructions are straightforward, making it easy to see what you can do and how you can do it, but harder to actually get the blocks to the solution right away. This forces you to really think spatially to find the solution.

I personally found that the difficulty wasn't too high. It didn't gradually increase and instead I found myself going through most of the puzzles with relative ease with one random puzzle every once in a while that would spike in difficulty, leaving me struggling to find the solution for a good long while (note that I was going for trying to illuminate each level the first time through, which means not just having all the same-color blocks touch, but also covering all the runes). It's hard to say whether that was how the game was intented to be or if there were just certain types of puzzles that I found more difficult than others. Either way, the game kept me entertained and itching to try and complete a much as I could.

I completed the game 100% in about 32 hours. The ambiant music was lovely to listen to, as it wasn't obnoxious or abrasive. However, I found that I was eventually becoming tired of the repetitive music after playing for hours and hours at a time. There are options to turn off the music and sound effects, so I ended up listening to my own music past that point. Other than those two options there is only a button to change the game from windowed mode to fullscreen. These few options work just fine for this game because there isn't really anything else that needs to be messed with. The game also has the original Blockwick "Basics," which offers even more puzzles. I felt that "Basics" was much easier so I often switched and worked on some of those puzzles when I was stuck on a more difficult one in the other section.

TL;DR Blockwick 2 is a challenging but enjoyable puzzle game with nice visuals and music that is definitely a great purchase for those interested in logical/spatial puzzle games! With both Blockwick "Basics" and Blockwick 2 in this game, there are 320+ puzzles!

Blockwick 2 is a unity-based, candy-coloured block sliding puzzle game.

Pros:

- Vibrant colors and a crisp presentation
- Mixes it up by adding block behaviours, like sticky blocks, sleeping blocks, and snake blocks
- Allows you to skip challenging levels via a mini-game, finding a pearl buried in each level
- Want more challenge? Try beating the levels by matching the symbols on the blocks to their grid locations. Adds another layer of difficulty, and is completely optional
- Has a beginner series of puzzles that was added later, giving you even more for your money

Cons

- For some, the music may be distracting. Luckily there is a mute button.
- The difficulty didn't progress smoothly. There were some dastardly puzzles in between otherwise simple ones. Not sure if this was by design.
- The tutorial is very sparse. In specific, I found that the sticky blocks had a behaviour that I only discovered by accident. It would have been nice to explain these better to avoid getting stuck (pun intended)
- Undo only goes back one step. I was forced to reset in some sleeping block stages, where it is quite possible to become trapped.

If you enjoy casual puzzle games, Blockwick 2 is a good deal. But if sliding block puzzles aren't your thing, you probably won't be won over by Blockwick 2. I found this to be an excellent way to take a break in between tasks by leaving it running in the background and solving a puzzle here and there. Walking away and coming back to it got me past some of the more challenging levels. It's also why my playtime is so exaggerated, pay it no mind.

I strongly advise picking this up on sale. As much as I support the hard work put into Blockwick, I can't say it's worth the full sticker price.

Achievement hunters: Assuming no use of a guide, may provide a fair challenge when trying to illuminate all levels. But nothing that time and persistence won't overcome. 100% is achievable.

Blockwick 2 is one of the best puzzle games I have played. Every aspect of this game is spot on: the basic premise, the visual execution, the amount of variation, the difficulty and learning curve, the music and the sound effects. They all contribute to feeling it's fun to play the game and it's satisfying to solve the puzzles.

One very noteworthy thing about Blockwick 2 is that the game doesn't need to end if you're stumped by one particular puzzle. In each puzzle, there is a pearl hidden underneath one of the blocks. Find that pearl and click on it and you can move to the next puzzle if you want. Sometimes it's a good idea to skip a puzzle for now and move on, just to be able to focus on a different problem for a while. At the end of each chapter (= a collection of 16 puzzles) you can check the overview and go back to the puzzle(s) you skipped to complete the chapter.

When I got a bit frustrated by one or more puzzles in a chapter, I went and did something else for a while, but it never took long before I was drawn back to Blockwick 2 to give it another go. This is a rare thing for me. So yes, I certainly recommend Blockwick 2 to anyone who even remotely likes puzzle games.

Blockwick 2 is a logic game made by (yet unknown) indie studio Kieffer Bros.

Gameplay revolves around moving differently colored blocks that, in the end, should end up connected to all blocks of the same color. Although it's already offering a good challenge on the basic principle, there are more optional objectives for those who seek bigger challenge - there is a hidden pearl in every level, that can grant you a hint in any level, and there are special marked places on the level, on which you have you connect the colored blocks if you want to feel really proud of yourself. (You can connect them anyway on the level and feel proud too, you won't just "illuminate" the level.)

Developers made a definitely great work on level design and overall game design, it feels really polished, and both relaxing and stressful, depending on your patience with harder levels and illumination. There are hundreds of levels, so don't be afraid this would be just a fun for few hours, especially if you'll want to illuminate all the levels - expect tens hours of gameplay!

Blockwick 2 is definitely a sweet puzzle game with a low price tag. There's nothing that would keep me from recommending this game, so... buy it, it's worth it!

Very enjoyable block-pushing puzzle game.

There are ~300 puzzles, and one thing is obvious: while the game principle is old ("tried and true"), the designer has done everything right in this incarnation. The game starts you off with a very short tutorial even before you get to the main menu. Levels are unlocked sequentially, and you can either progress the easy way (move blocks around until you find the moon pearl), solve a puzzle by making all blocks of the same color touch (interesting when there's more than one color), or you can find and cover up 3 mysterious floor marks with your solution pattern (illumination). This can get tricky because for some reason those marks are in hard-to-reach places - I wonder why. ;-) There are also special blocks in later levels to keep things interesting, but I find that even with the not-so-special blocks, the levels are very well crafted and not boring.

The interface looks clean and never gets in the way: since you have these three levels of completing a puzzle, you tend to want to keep fiddling with it after you solve it to get the illumination, and the game lets you do that. It simply never pushes an intrusive "you're done now" window in your face, but it does let you know when you've solved it in an unmistakable way. There is no timer or move counter to bug you, you get the task done (or not) and move on. This probably plays well on smartphone screens, but it plays equally well with mouse control: the precision comes in handy when you need to funnel small objects through narrow spaces.

This game distills everything that's enjoyable about block-moving games in one colorful package. If you enjoy this kind of puzzle, there's no need to wait for a sale: Blockwick 2 is well worth its price.

The game contains 160 base levels and another 144 levels from a "basics" set that is slightly easier. A more difficult DLC could be ported over if enough people buy the PC version.

Highly recommended for puzzle fans and those with a logical mind.

Move the blocks around so that all the colored ones touch, each color to it's own. I used the mouse to click and drag the blocks. There are 9 worlds or sections or whatever you want to call them, and in each one they introduce a new concept that makes the game harder, such as blocks that are linked and move together or sticky blocks.

For completionists there are 2 more facets of the game other than just solving the puzzle. 1. Find all the white orbs that are hidden behind the blocks. There is one orb in each level. 2. After you solve the puzzle try to get the blocks so that they cover the weird symbols to get illumination. That's where it gets tough. There are multiple ways to solve some of the levels.

The graphics are nice and colorful.

The music is whimsical but does not intrude on the game. It's really nice background music for a puzzle game. I like it a lot.

I've got over 7 hours so far and have just started the 7th world.

UPDATE: Finished all the levels in all 9 worlds. Now trying for all illumination--very difficult. Some seem impossible. But after getting all of the moon pearls (the white orbs hidden in every level) it revealed a secret 10th world! This game is awesome. One of the best puzzle games I've ever played.

UPDATE #2: They added more puzzles, but they are easier than the other ones. I think they were the ones in Blockwick 1 on mobile app. Also, the price has increased since I bought the game.
