Cost me less than £1.00 & I still feel ripped off.
Cave Coaster is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. And yes, it's not a PC game, it's a crap mobile app that's been dumped here as a cash grab.
Like all endless/autorunners, you're moving and you can't stop. All you can do is avoid the obstacles coming at you in this incredibly shallow shovelware mobile app.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the mobile app is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Cave Coaster has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the mobile app absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for clearing the first tutorial level, trivial to achieve, but less than 9 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the mobile app. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this mobile app was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the mobile app. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 9 percent of players bothered playing the mobile app for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this mobile app to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the mobile app? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this mobile app for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the mobile app just has a couple of players every week running up the mobile app and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many mobile apps like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Cave Coaster has the insane price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
put in trashh!
Funy game
Ns
Miners can have some insane jumping skills too.
This is a pretty quick game, which does not offer much more than a few minutes of acual game play. You are in a minecart and have as many lives as there are worms in your cart (max. 3). Every time you crash, you lose a life. Lose all lives and it's game over.
Even a "good round" rarely takes more than a few minutes, most others a few seconds. Not funny enough to play drunk in a group.
If you can get it for a few cents, it might be worth a try, but it's definitely not worth a dollar...
Not a bad game. I had to reset it about 4 times before I could get the jump button to work but it finally did. I enjoyed the game, and it was something you could really sink some time into.

It’s time to relaunch Indie Game of the Week with a boom, of dynamite that is!
Cave Coaster is an addictive new Indie Game which sees yourself as a gem hungry miner who loves to ride the rails with his miner buddies and risk it all to claim as many jewels as possible before they fall from the tracks.
We’ve been taking our cart for a ride and here are our thoughts on the game.
Gameplay
Well paced action keeps you playing at a speed that’s balanced enough for you to decide your next move but fast enough to keep you on your toes. As you progress so does the game, making it more challenging and adding more objects for you to understand.
Power Ups
Common in most casual Indie Games are Power Ups as they offer the player a goal to aim for that helps to improve their game.
First up we have the Magnet power-up, this one is designed to suck in all the gems around and help the miner collect more.
Top Tip – Make sure to use the magnet when you’re in a section that is almost completely filled with gems as you’ll collect a lot more!
The Rocket is a big blaster, designed to help speed sections and progress at pace.
Finally the Shield is used to defend your cart against damage, at first this will seem like a un-needed power up but what you quickly come to learn once the game develops is this is one of the most important.
Defending yourself
The best ways to keep riding the rails for longer and progress more within a single run is by picking up friends along the way. Each miner in your cart can be compared to a life in terms of when you crash into a barrier you’ll lose one but be able to recover. Keep your cart full so when it starts getting hairy you’re prepared. As well as having a full cart of miners it’s important to keep an eye on your Shield power up and make sure it’s charged just in case. Using both these solutions will give you a much better chance at survival.
Upgrades
Want to boost for longer, feel stronger or collect more? Then you’ll want to upgrade your power-ups. Using the gems you’ve won and collected you can earn enough to level up and improve your arsenal of powers. Bored of your mine cart? Don’t worry they are unlockable too so keep hitting the caves and you’ll be riding in all sorts of vehicles.
Graphics
Vibrant, full of colour and well crafted. Although when we played it didn’t display in a full screen we were still able to enjoy the rich environments of the caves.

UPD: this review is a bit outdated now. Looks like devs did minor (and silent) update to fix most annoying problems. At this point I have no interest in full testing, so I just strike down few lines.
Game is Ok, it's common 'run-'till-you-can' time killer, probably it was made for Android tablets and just ported on PC.
Actual problem is the fact that PC port was made awfully. Biggest flaws so far:
• only one locked screen resolution (1280×720);
• no full-screen, game windowed even if your screen smaller than 1280×720 — in that case you won't see some HUD parts or even whole down level of tracks Fixed; now you can switch to fullscreen with Alt+Enter;
• godawfully made keyboard&mouse support: sometimes to hit in-game button you'll need to press Enter, sometimes (for pretty similar button) only Space or mouse will work;
• wonky controls that can start flicker between two buttons for no reason;
• cart can stuck in corners of screen, above track levels or even below;
• no separated settings for sounds and music;
• no volume settings at all (just 'Sound:On/Off' button);
• Steam achievements for this game are broken: “Keep Going” just unobtainable for most people for no reason (see screenshot) Fixed: devs just removed broken achievement srom Steam.

Devs abandoned this project and don't care about Steam version at all: I've tried to contact them directly, but got no answer.
Buy only with significant discount and if you don't really care for things like achievements.
I kind of liked this game, but I thought it was going to be like those awesome SNES Donkey Kong Country cart levels and this game is not like that.
The really BAD part is that the jump is always the same, it doesn't matter if you press jump hard or soft, the cart always jumps at the same height. If that could be changed this game would be way better.
I do recommend it, just because it's cheap and I don't think it deserved not to be recommended.
