Brave Rulers do not despair.
Great Rulers know their riches can rule,
And spend every coin with great care.
In Kingdom, each coin spent can tip the balance between prosperity and decay. Attend to your domain, border to border, or venture into the wild to discover its wonders and its threats. Master the land, build your defenses, and when the darkness comes, stand with your people, crown on your head, until the very end.
Gameplay
Kingdom is a 2D sidescrolling strategy/resource management hybrid with a minimalist feel wrapped in a beautiful, modern pixel art aesthetic. Play the role of a king or queen atop their horse and enter a procedurally generated realm primed to sustain a kingdom, then toss gold to peasants and turn them into your loyal subjects in order to make your kingdom flourish. Protect your domain at night from the greedy creatures looking to steal your coins and crown, and explore the nearby, mysterious forests to discover curious and cryptic artifacts to aid your kingdom.

casual awesomeness
Kingdom: Classic is a great game and also serves as the perfect introduction to the Kingdom series for anyone looking to get into these games.
The art style and soundtrack are both beautiful and are reason enough to give this game a try
Its a nice simple game, but there is something so annoying and/or disappointing when you lose because you cleared one side and half your archers are on the wrong side.
And also when there are 2 giant summoner foes, and your archers can't kill the spawns because the accuracy of shooting over a wall is terrible.
And beyond the first set of walls the archer tower positions are very random.
Again, its a nice simple game, its not bad per say, it just has that issue where its not that fun enough to overcome to time disappointment you feel when you lose.
Aka you feel like you wasted time and didn't have fun when you lose.
Push out in both directions or you'll get swamped on one side,
Leave trees around the little beleaguered people camps or you’ll run out of dudes,
Don’t assign work far from your front line or you’ll have dudes running to their demise,
I think about this version of the game more than I care to admit…
Waste of timerino.
A classic. Recommending Two Crowns, though. (Played that one on PS4, not here.)
100% in just over 20 hours. Definitely not the kind of game to spend all your time in, but extremely good start to a multi-part series. The game is unique and interesting, and I am satisfied with what I got out of it.
Great look and feel to it. Has great music and wonderful design
Absolutely amazing game. The vibe and style just make it a great gaming experience.
The original Kingdom lacks a lot of features that the other versions have, obviously, but I still love coming back to this one now and again to experience a little bit more simplicity. There's a charm to Classic that has honestly been lost with the progression of the series (though I've put significantly more time into Two Crowns than most other games). For pure survival tower defense, this is--if not the best, most polished game--my personal happy place.
Its frustrating and joyous. Hints of classic 80's Amiga games like shadow of the beast or populous.
I wish you could save and i feel if it was inch tougher i would rage quit!
Its special and especially maddening. The graphics are just enough to set of your imaginations as a lump of 'stranger things drifts by!! The music lends the perfect vibe. Long live the kingdom and i'm a republican.
Since i played this game in 2019 everything i can imagine has changed. My health, my family , my democracy the environment ,the pandemic, and a drift to a total war far worse than that in kingdom.
Long live democracy , long live hope.
Don't take democracy for granted.
While I have enjoyed all three of the Kingdom games that have been released to date (Kingdoms: Classic, Kingdoms: New Lands and Kingdoms: Two Crowns) I would not recommend playing this version in the least. This game is nearly a decade old and still possesses game breaking bugs, poor mechanics and requires large amounts of rng to make any meaningful progress (to wave 30 and above). To be fair, all three versions share these same problems, but considering the lack of content available you'd be better off playing Two Crowns. The graphics are beautiful and the game play is simple enough to get started, but its lack of key features and poor game design make me unable to recommend anyone waste their time with Kingdoms: Classic.
good satisfying learning curve :) fun survival castle game with no mechanically demanding gameplay.
Positives:
+ beautiful pixel artwork
+ simple game mechanics
Negatives:
- you need to find out how everything works, sometimes it can be grave mistake
- no direct control of units, you have to be careful when and where are they going
very original game
nice
Super fun easy stressless not super hard just a chill fun little game time passer.
Simple game and enjoyable for a few hours. After that it becomes irritating because you spent the majority of the time walking from one side of the map to the other. It is also frustrating that you have zero say so in what the npcs do with their time or where they stand guard. It comes down to luck and RNG timing.
WOWOWOW WHAT A GAME GUT WRENCHING SPINE TINGLING TOE CURLING EYE TWITCHIng fun fun fun
masterpiece
This game has some severe stability issues for a side-scroller but is worth playing anyway. If you ever have the displeasure of playing with a half empty bluetooth controller, your savegame is bound to be corrupted, if the controller switches off. Happened to me just before day 100 and it's frustrating as hell. It also crashes on otherwise rock-solid systems sometimes. Be aware and go for a free backup solution for your appdata folder.
The game that started it all... Its come a long long way!
I payed for it
.
it good
