I like it; it's a charming concept, and the aesthetic is dead on my taste, but there is missed potential here.
To start, the voice acting could be a little better. It is supposed to be bad, but a good voice actor can do a lousy voice well. But the actors they have here are dull-sounding.
Another issue is with the dialogue. It really needs to be funnier. The McElroy brothers' stuff is cute, but the rest of the dialog sounds like a first draft in a comedy show. It's maybe flirting with getting a chuckle out of me, but it falls flat at the punchline and sometimes delivery.
Finally, the gameplay either needed to be more arcade fighter-like or golf-technical. Right now, it's just shallow, and it's not always clear how strong a shot will be or how far it will go when the interface keeps changing for each bot.
Every now and then I keep coming back to this thinking
"Surely i've not given this enough of a try" and hoping that the McElroy wit can keep me involved enough to see some shine i've missed before, but no... Every time I pick up this mess i'm enraged. Everything from the gameplay to the menu is atrocious, and i'm sorry but "first to the hole," race style golf is garbage - Half the appeal of golf in game or reality is taking time to analyze your situation and work against the elements...in this game it's just "HURR SMASH BALL LOTS MAKE GO QUICK HOLE".
The definition of unnecessarily reinventing the wheel. Bums me out that the McElroys talent was wasted on this heap.

Online doesn't work, and the mecha gameplay is so severely unbaked that all you're really left with is a golf game that relies on its silly presentation and art style to make it interesting. Unfortunately, it's not nearly enough to carry the game. Maybe it's more enjoyable in the singleplayer story, but that's not why I bought this.
