great game, it just needs more updates like diff rods reels and all that jazz but other than that great game.
i think this is a good game despite what some reviews say, That being said its not very polished but it is still very fun none the less and people have to remember that this is a simulator after all and it takes time to catch fish which adds to the fun for some people and if that isn't you go find another game and stop complaining
The mobile version is more advanced in terms of number of fishing locations, but the PC based version has far better graphics, adding considerably to the realism. And realism is in my opinion the greatest plus for this simulator. One has to work hard to catch fish, so that casting a line blindly into water and expecting to hook fish after fish as with most other simulators does not work here. Time of day and seasonal effects are all taken factored into the models. The player can select time options, but gains no XP or in-game currency if playing under such conditions. These are only earned if playing in "real-time" mode. All of the above puts the Carp Fishing Simulator amongst the most realistic fishing simulators in the market..
This is a nice game if you can't go out and fish controls a bit hard to manage and can't seem to get the multi-player settings to work to play with friends just need help with that
Don't buy it if you are expecting the game to ever be updated . I bought this god knows how many years ago and have never seen an update. Voicing your opinion to others on the forum gets you a life ban . But guess what Derk you can't erase this everyone sees it not just the forum. Big mistake Cash cowing a game with the ever carrot dangling chestnut. " update coming next month . Well here we are 3 years maybe more later and no update has ever been added. (PC) Version that is. Android I believe has had a few but the PC version has been abandoned.
Such a shame as the premise of the game was very promising but I am thinking because of the nature of fishing there are thousands of different scenarios to code and being a lone developer this has been why the game hasn't progressed. I just wish the guy would be honest and say so instead of keep giving false promises.
This was a promising game that I was eagerly watching the progress on Steam and FB. The videos and pics shown looked like we were going to get a really well done game. All we have been given after all the waiting, is the mobile version.
Where is the game you promised ?
the game is good if you want a real fishing simulator,
i had a really early version where you could make your own baits to use in game, it would be good to have this feature back.
the only flaw is that i cant seem to get any real range when casting, it always stays low?
i like that unlike other fishing games that you can actually sit inside your bivvy, it would be good as well if you could have a chair by your rods that you could also sit on.
SUPER clunky movement, really bad graphics and the controls are not clearly labled its just not a good game on pc.....stick to mobile.........(chuckle)
EDIT
tried contacting the game dev and he blocked me contacting him.
this guy is a con artist stay clear of this game..........
EDIT 2.0
but still cant recognise the bugs and the for-mentioned problems?
yes i was rude, only after being refused a refund. at the time it was only fit for mobile, yet you released it to pc, knowing full well it wasn't worth the price it was priced at the time, yet still released it and couldn't comprehend that a customer was complaining about your product. that to me rings major alarm bells
I play this game only 3 or 4 hours a month, but have done that for almost 2 years now. It hits a spot for me, and thought I'd write a review to say why I like it.
The graphics are low budget. You won't find asset loaded, busy graphics with James Bond like cut scenes, but the talented one man developer has given a picturesque touch to them. Its easy on the eyes and may actually be preferable for a fishing game where you'll be staring at them a lot.
The sound effects are 'spot on' as they would say elsewhere, a good mix of near and far sounds, adding to the relaxing immersive feeling of being on a lake.
The game seems to be going for a genuine fishing experience. From the time and date matching real life time and date, to the game telling you literally nothing about fishing strategies. But you can learn those strategies at your own pace (trial and error, internet searches, etc), the only consequence is you may catch less and smaller fish, but can still earn money and progress in the game.
Although I like this, it would be nice to add some general tips of those factors that are programmed in the game, yet without giving away the game. So non fishermen can 'catch up' some to the experienced fishermen.
Overall, its fairly immersive with a feeling of being out on a lake, and a low pressure experience while learning some fishing strategies. A new update is on the horizon, I'm excited to see what it brings.
i would not adives this to anyone as the game will not run corrctly unless u have a high powed pc evern set on low nothing responds properly waste of mony and time. i had to save for this game thinkng it was gona be orsum but it turned out worse game ever played. ps its the only game that does not run on my lapto.
WOW Talk about misleading. The vidoes are of the game being worked on. This is not that game. This is the mobile game ported to PC. The rewrite will be whole new game but free for PC. New game for mobile.
Time is real time so if it's 2300 and you want to fish then you fish at 2300 game time. The game runs in real time, 1 game hour equal 1 real life hour. Want to fish at 0600 drag your butt out of bed at 0600 and go fishing. No thanks I do that in RL. On a PC I want to tell the game what time I want to start, having it set to your computer time does not work for me. There is only a key map for help. Good luck, looks fun and I am sure if you invested several hours into guides and videos to figure it out it may be fun.
Refunded sadly but thumbs down.
Deadful. Such a simple game with terrible physics. Feels like a rushed beta version. 3dcarp on mobile is the only decent carp
fishing game and is in a different league to this.
I´m very disappointed with this "almost-game", i love carpfishing and wait a while until i bought this game, but honestly, it doesn't work at all, cant get a fish cause there´s no key to grab the rod! And many other stuff´s arent working properly.
It was the first time i ask a refund, break my heart to do it...
I bought this 2 years ago and recently put 200hrs into it so I've had my tenners worth, but I can't currently recommend it for new purchasers at this stage of development as I have serious concerns that work on the PC version of this game is not going to progress any further than it already has. I love the game compared to other fishing games on Steam but I have to be honest and tell it like it is.
There have been zero new venues or content for a very long time on the PC version yet the developer seems very busy indeed with his mobile version which is a cheaper buy. I'm currently awaiting a response from the developer on a number of questions posed via the forum on his future plans for the PC game.
If I was a prospective buyer I would wait out and see what the developer comes up with for the PC version within the next few months or go buy the cheaper android version if you must splash out now.
At this point in time, I certainly wouldn't be paying full price requested for an EA PC game which appears to have been "parked up" over a long period of time now and that could be seen by some people as just a fund raiser for the mobile version.
Edit: Deleted previous negative review, updated on April 29, 2021. Kept comments from previous review below. Reason for change? Just view the Dev Logs videos.
Let bygones be bygones I say. If you're one of the people who bought Carp Fishing Simulator early on like myself, you can attest to how slow and limited the progress and updates to the Steam PC version of the game have been.
But, I encourage all those who may have been just too critical and actually personally attacking Derk the developer, to take a few minutes to view his recent Dev Blog videos posted here on Steam.
Derk, is a soft-spoken fellow, who is working on his own learning to navigate the difficult world of game development. His first Dev Log Video puts a human face to the project, and does explain real well why it's taking so long and why the game is at it's current state.
By and large, what he shows is the determination to make good on delivering to Steam PC users a game that we can enjoy. I've just recently downloaded the game after a couple years being away, and I can say it's actually fun.
Check out the Dev Log video, you'll most likely have a more positive outlook of the situation, of Dangerous Derk Interactive, and of Carp Fishing Simulator: Complete Edition.
Tight lines all.
This is what you're missing.

This dev is extremely sketchy and already seems to be running into money issues. He launched his game with the asking price of 20$ in early May. I purchased it for this price on May 7 2015. Within a week he dropped the price by 33% permanently to 13$. I made a post asking him about it and not liking the fact something I purchased in early access was already seemingly running into money problems and having to drop the cost so much. Now I see less than a month after that he is already offering a 75% off sale on steam, so early after release and in early access. I have never seen such price drops. Be very wary of this dev and his apparent ability to manage finances with all these price drops so early into release. I commented on my original post regarding this and showing another price drop to potential new buyers of the game and the dev banned me and deleted my post his ban message did not contain a reason.
As for the game itself, it currently feels very clunky, there is no reeling animations or things of that nature. There is no mouse or controller support. I would stay far away from this until the dev proves he can support the game and provide regular updates.
Censoring supporters of the game on the steam forums to try to block others from seeing what he has already done with the price by banning them from the forums is definitely a red flag and I would advise my friends and everyone else to stay far away from the game.
Just a few quick impressions, and quirks a potential purchaser should be aware of:
1. Early Access or not, no game should ship without a Pause or Save Game feature. Too many interruptions in the modern world. The awkwardness means I'll play less than I'd planned. If these features exist, they are not mentioned. Anyone?
2. Can't choose your month to fish. I choose September, I get July at night. I choose May, I get.. July at night. Really? Another turn off. This is a must fix. Why have good graphics(See, something nice), if you can't see them? New fish are nice, but the basics are, or should be, the priority.
3. The rod positioning could use some polishing, at least eventually. No line or rod in real life could stand up to the sharp angles, especially when the fish gets within 20m feet or so.
4. I hope that eventually, some fish sign will be added, like swirls and tail splashes, and a variety of fish shapes and shadows as the fish is brought into play. A bit bare right now. Save and pause and date choice are priorities.
5. A few nice things. I've watched The Great Rod Race 2, and this game has the potential to bring that style of fishing to life for me. Hope the devs can make a go of it. I chose this game over the competition as it seemed better supported.
My first fish was a 20 lb carp. Lost a 30-40+ lber when the net wouldn't sit right. Got to move the fisherman forward to hit the right spot to place the net. Casting is next to impossible on higher resolutuions, the bar moves faster than the response. LIttle tricks to learn, and that's ok. Bream and tench and various carp are kinda fun.
*** This is too good. Caught a 40lb plus carp, made the top 50. Ok, but when I went to photograph it(flash camera, anyone?), it was not there. Couldn't break back to the fishing either, until I hit "Y" to reset camp. Instead, that command led me back to fishing, where the description of my big fish and the overall list remained. A fish hit another bait, and, upon setting the hook, I noted that the line and rod tip were no longer connected and only the rod could move, not the now disconnected line. A magic rod! I landed the fish, believe it or not, by noting where the movement of the screen made it logical to find the fish with the net. You can't make this stuff up, its too good.
Overall, what will make or break this game for me will be how convenient it is to play. I want to fish when I want to fish, not when the game says I can. Saves and pause features are a must for continued play, and soonest. I was a beta tester for VR Sportfishing, an almost great game which fell by the wayside despite many advantages over other fishing games. Hope this one does better.
More later, unless a better fishing game comes along. Fisherman can be as picky and fickle as the fish they strive to catch. Remember that, devs. Can't recommend it yet. Lots of potential here, like a new found pond that might hold a good fish. Good luck!
