This 'taste' of a game was pretty good, got me interested and was graphically well done. However, 'chapter 1' leads one to believe there will be a lot more coming, and 5-6 years later nothing else has been done with it. I would recommend against this game. You will find a lot better, and more complete, games in the genre far more worth your time and money.
Very short puzzle-adventure/escape room game. If you are better than me you can finish this in an hour.
One very dumb achievement though. Many people have much trouble unlocking it!!! That is why my review is negative.
Great, logical point-n-click fun. Worth paying but go into it understanding that there's no Chapter 2 and at the end of this game you're going to say "aww man I wish there was more"
This is actually a very enjoyable point and click puzzle game with decent graphics (a little primitive, but not bad), a neat and involving plot (more on that below), and a short but sweet runtime.
There are two negatives, one major and one picayune. The nit-picking one is that one of the achievements (the one for interacting with EVERYTHING in every chapter) is insanely difficult, and it took me another play through (laboriously clicking on EVERYTHING) to get it. The major negative point is that the story is cool and involving, and it sets itself up brilliantly for a new chapter.......and then it ends and the devs as far as I know never made a second chapter.
So, it's a nifty little puzzle game that will give you around an hour of solid, fun point and click fun with approachable and not too obtuse/galaxy brain puzzles. But it just ends and there will be NO other sequels to continue the story. If that last point is a deal-breaker, then don't get this game. If you can forgive the cliffhanger ending that you know will never be resolved, then by all means get this game (on sale, naturally....I mean, it is only an hour long game, and the second time around I did it in about 1/2 an hour, and the story for all intents and purposes just ends).
So, recommended, but know what you're getting into.
The game itself was fine, although I had trouble getting things to work, like the flashlight, so I was stumbling around in the dark until the game decided it was time for me to turn it on. The biggest reason I wouldn't recommend it is that it's a very short, unfinished game, and almost 3 years later there is no sign of chapter 2.
I had high hopes for this little game, but with confusing game play, illogical puzzles, and no story resolution, I have to advise you to stay away.
I like the artstyle and it's not a bad game, but it seems to be abandoned. This first chapter provides around one to two hours of gameplay depending on how dense you are. It plays entierly in one small room and you never learn much about the characters or the story, because it seems to be an intro of a much bigger game that will probably never be released. I'm writing this in 2017 and there have been people asking for chapter two since 2015 now. I don't think the developer will release any more of this. I can't recommend it because of that. If you are looking for a good adventure, try one of the first two Secret Files games. If you'd like a first person puzzle game, look up The Room 1 and 2.
This game is fairly simple as far as adventure games go and very, very short. Most puzzles consist of finding a key and using that key. Though I really liked the style of the opening sequence and the story looked like it had potential, it seems there will never be an episode 2 to realise any of that potential. As such, I can't recommend it. There's not much here for a standalone game.
tl;dr
A great little game, but far too short and no episode two over a year later. 8/10
Ps & Cs
+ Very attractive
+ Well designed
+ Good use of screen tearing to display item descriptions (etc)
+ Puzzles are good and logical
+ Good price
- VERY short, sub 1 hour
- If this were a movie, it would end at 1/4 of the way through act I
- It's been over a year and still no sign of episode 2
Nitty Gritty
Honestly, the only real complaint I have about this game is how short it is. It's a beautiful little game and decent puzzles, no pixel hunting, and a compelling story, but it's just incomplete. I got stuck on the password puzzle for like 30 minutes and still only ended up with 1.2 hours. This game ends so quickly it would be like if Walking Dead Episode 1 ended after the police car crash. In the community discussion they have been asking when the next one would come out for over a year with no input from the developer. I wouldn't put much faith in an episode 2 ever coming out. 8*/10 (*might never see an ending)
This is a nice demo, but it's more of a playable introduction than anything else.
Story
Raises a couple of questions but doesn't really answer any of them. One of the questions raised is about identity and one twin impersonating the other, which would probably have gone better if we had time to get used to the player character's actual identity first.
Gameplay
Occasionally suffers from "not-yet syndrome", where it's obvious what you need to do but the game won't let you do it until some condition is met.
Particularly egregrious example: You can't look up "Atlas" in the folder until you've used the translator on the Latin text... despite the fact that "Atlas" is the same in both languages, and as a proper noun it sticks out even if the player doesn't know Latin.
The character has an in-game journal for storing clues, but you will need to keep your own notes as he doesn't write down critical facts like codes and passwords.
Bugs
Nothing game-breaking. Takes upwards of 10 seconds to transition from examine-mode back to room-view-mode, which becomes quite frustrating after the first thirty-five times you have to do that. There's no feedback during this, so the game appears to be frozen.
I usually don't buy incomplete games, but I got this on the sale on an impulse because it was cheap, hoping it would be short and sweet enough to pass the time. It was nice. I finished episode 1 in about 45 minutes. I don't know why people say puzzles were obscure. They were ok. It's more like "nobody would leave such a cryptic clue in real life", but other than that the clues were reasonably easy to decipher, but I guess not retardedly easy either. The gameplay system works fairly well. The artistic style is nice; I wish there was some nice voiceover, that would have been cool.
I experienced slight glitches on linux which magically went way when I went out of fullscreen mode and back again. No idea why. Anyway, overall, I liked it and it played well; if you have an hour to kill, the puzzles were decent enough to keep me entertained :)
The episode ends in a very "wtf" plottwist / cliffhanger, so I guess I'm intrigued to see how it picks up from there ... except my experience with indie developers who put out a single episode of a game is that the remaining episodes either never materialise, or the rest of the plot just doesn't get thought out past episode 1 ... and this ending looks like the kind of ending that might end up in the latter case. Anyway, we'll see. If the rest of the game happens I'll buy it and find out :p
Mirrored - Chapter 1 is a short mystery point and click title by developer/publisher Kelkafa Studios. The story revolves around Rob and Nick, twin brothers. You play as Rob, who has had a vague and concerning message left on his voicemail from his brother. As one does when their sibling may be in trouble, Rob hurries to his brother's office in search of answers, and he gets a lot more than what he bargained for.
Firstly, the artwork and soundtrack to this game are simply stunning. This is not a flat, 2D point and click title, but a 360 degree rotational one; it feels as though you are standing right in the center of the room while you poke and prod at every object as you're attempting to solve the puzzles. The entirety of Chapter 1 is spent in one room, Nick's office, but there are numerous cutscenes that keep the story going; all of which only add more questions, rather than answers. This is to be expected, given that it's the entry into a would-be trilogy.
I say would-be trilogy because it has been nearly two years, and the developer hasn't said anything in regards to Chapter 2. Even taking a look at their Steam profile, they haven't so much as played a game since November of 2015. It's more than likely that Mirrored will be another episodic indie title that falls flat in the water. The problem with these episodic games is that when the first chapter is released, they don't gain enough attention since they're short and generally only give the part of the story that sets up the entire premise of the series.
Mirrored - Chapter 1 only lasts for half an hour at best, even if you have an issue with solving a puzzle. While the set up for the story is decent, it's too vague and doesn't really give a sense as to what may be laying in wait in the (maybe) upcoming chapters. At this point, since there has been no word from the developer since late 2015, I cannot recommend this title, as there's no guarantee that a second part is in fact coming our way. If that doesn't bother you, aside from the graphics and audio, the gameplay is lackluster and mediocre at best; there are far more interesting point and clicks to delve in to.
Rating: 2.0/5.0 - It's not awful, but it's not great.

Maybe I shouldn't write a review on a game after only playing it for one hour.
So let's not call it a review but just a 'first impression' .
I'm feeling the need to write this because after playing about 6 different games in different genres today I was more than pleasantly surprised by this one.
It has a great art style, all the items are worked out really well, the puzzles logical the responsiveness of mouse and keys really direct (something that's often lacking) so that you don't waste time trying to click something that just won't be clicked but should be. The overall atmosphere is suspensefull which is nicely enhanced by the music and the sound of for instance the rain and the voices.
Often I try a new game and find out after about half an hour that I won't be liking it for sure. Well, this one's the opposite: I am really drawn into the story of a twin brother trying to find out what is happening to his 'other half' .
So, once I finish this first chapter I will write an update, for now I recommend this to anyone who likes point and click adventures.
I'm a huge fan of adventure games and point 'n' clicks, and I appreciate the devs intentions with this, but the final product leaves a lot to be desired. While there is some promise to it, it doesn't even play like an opening chapter to a game so much as a prologue. It's very short, there's not a lot of story there, and there aren't a lot of puzzles. And one or two of the ones that do exist end up being obscure logic jumps that don't really work, which are paired with everything else being overly simplistic. Also, one of the achievements is apparently broken. I've played through the game twice very deliberately, one time even following a guide, and still the glitched Thorough achievemnt would not pop.
I'm fine with having paid a few bucks to support some devs finding their feet, but they really need to concentrate on refining this into a better, more complex, and less buggy experience if they continue to move foward with this project and future installments. 4/10 for me, and a point or two of that is for the game's potential.
This is a really nice point and click/escape the room game. Graphics are great and the puzzles are challenging. The plot is interesting and I can't wait for the next chapter!
A definite recommend for point and click fans!
TLDR: If you like room escape puzzle games this is a good little title with an interesting story to get into.
At $2 it's easy to recommend this game. It's not like you can go wrong spending an hour messing around in a room trying to figure your way out. I could perhaps argue that a coule of the puzzle elements are too abstract, but that might just be me missing something that should make it obvious. Only other negative thing I could possibly say is that there are a couple of dodgy puns in there. It's also worth noting that there is a nice system that lets you only do things the character is aware of, so you can't just click on stuff until things happen.
In summery. It's fun. Musics nice. Art is nice. Story is interesting.
Fun little game! More difficult than I anticipated, some parts require multiple connections of the clues. The game is worth the play, especially for the price. Gameplay style is super simplistic, point-and-click and even though I wish it gave more controls, this type of gameplay really fits the overall atmosphere. Overall, looking forward to the next chapter!
This game is amazingly fun! If you enjoy puzzles it's an absolute must have
The puzzles are all at that just perfect level of difficulty; they're challenging and will make you think, but they're not off the wall moon logic frustrating and are extremely satisfying to figure out.
It also looks & sounds great and a has a nicely intriguing plot. I'm definitely looking forward to the next chapters!
A decent escape room game with graphic-novel style cutscenes. The plot is surprisingly good for a game at this size.
7/10 - The Birth of Another Strong Episodic Series Accidently Reviewed
I really love some things about this game. Comic-like cut scenes and interactive puzzles and point and click objectives. Graphics are pretty good and the storyline keeps you pushing forward.
(EDIT) I had some complaints with the original controls but within a few days the developers listened and corrected the issue. I'm impressed!
Regardless, I look forward to grabbing the next episode whenever that may be! Hopefully soon!
Worth the $2.99! Easy.
