this is good
i am playing this while i wait for the stench ridden filthy peasants to drive away and the rain to wash away the smell of the ugly

Yo, Victor's got a vector, sleek and divine,
Gliding through the chaos, leaving foes behind.
He’s laughing at the enemy, they’re stuck in the grind,
Ugly and stupid, outta their mind.
Victor on the scene, with a grin so sly,
Vector cuts through, like a blade in the sky.
Enemies chase, but they stumble and trip,
He’s a master of the game, they just losing their grip.
“Catch me alive?” Man, they wish they could,
But Victor’s too clever, he’s misunderstood.
He laughs at their moves, they’re slow and absurd,
Every step they take, he’s ahead with a smirk.
Victor and his vector, flying so high,
Dodging all the traps while he kisses the sky.
The enemy’s ugly, dumb as a stone,
Victor’s out here, ruling on his throne.
He’s got style for days, precision’s his tool,
Enemies sweating, but they play the fool.
They think they’re closing in, but he’s two steps clear,
He’s the maestro, the legend they fear.
Vector spins tight, cutting corners so sharp,
Enemies scream, but he plays it like a harp.
Their rage fuels him, he’s living for the thrill,
They’re stuck on the ground, while he bends the hill.
Victor and his vector, faster than sound,
Enemies stumble, can’t hold their ground.
Ugly and stupid, lost in the race,
Victor’s too smooth, they’re a disgrace.
“Keep chasing me, fools, you’ll never succeed,
Your clumsy little game is the laughter I need.”
Victor taunts loud, leaving echoes in the air,
Enemies in his dust, gasping for despair.
Vector twists, and it darts like a snake,
Victor’s untouchable, no mistake.
Their traps are a joke, their plans in the drain,
Victor just chuckles, immune to their pain.
Victor and his vector, untamed and free,
Enemies choking on their own misery.
Ugly and stupid, forever outclassed,
Victor’s the future, they’re stuck in the past.
Victor’s still laughing, cruising the line,
His vector’s his weapon, a force so fine.
Ugly foes weep, their pride’s undone,
Victor and his vector, the eternal one.
“Keep chasing, fools, I’m out of your league.
Victor and his vector, the king of intrigue.”
VEKTORS
I got this game because I had been looking for a good BattleZone remake and I must admit the aesthetics of this game where well done, but I wish you could get in to the Cobra at your spawn point or other vehicals. This isn't really BattleZone, it's just an OK FPS.
The Steam page claims :
"An armoury of loud and heavy weapons; feel the destruction!"
The actual weapons in this game are neither Loud nor Heavy and don't cause me to feel the destruction.
It had promise but ultimately disappointed.
I paid $2 for this and while I don't expect much for that price I do expect a functioning title, the game crashed on the last story level and I apparently lost all of my progress to that point.
What I did manage to play, I have a luke-warm reaction to, games that chase after this same or simmilar aesthetic exist and they do it better,
Tron 2.0
Tank Universal 1 and 2
Black Ice
all of those do a better job of what this game sets out and falls short of
Again though I was willing to overlook such things until the game crashed and I lost all of my unlocked story levels.
It's okay I guess. It made me want to re-install Lovely Planet. I got it for 80% off.
It's not a game where you can run through the levels, like Doom or Lovely Planet; generally you are going to get a Serious Sam style waves of enemies experience.
Consider this a very mild recommendation.
I picked up this game a few days after the first version was released in 2015. To this day (in 2019), it's one of the best game purchases I've made. If you're looking for simple and fun arcade action without the contrivances found in many modern games (grindy leveling systems, loot crates, etc.), then Vektor Wars may be good pick for you. If, on top of that, you like the vector graphics aesthetic found in classic games like Battlezone, then this game is a fantastic choice.
In addition to fast arcade action and stylish vector graphics, the game features great sound effects and a cool retro/synth soundtrack. I love the fact that I can jump in for a quick round or settle in and play the game for an extended period. As a casual gamer, I also like the fact that the game works well on older hardware (I typically play on a machine with an Intel Core i7-3770K processor, using the built-in Intel HD Graphics 4000).
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the dedication of the developers. They are responsive to the fans, and they posted multiple updates/fixes based on fan feedback. Additionally, over 4 years after the game launched, they posted a major update. It's great to see this level of respect for the fans.
TLDR: What you see is what you get with Vektor Wars. If the video and the screenshots look appealing, I'd definitely recommend giving it a whirl. I've had a lot of fun with this game over the years.
Fun game with simple but awesome retro graphics. Easy to pick up, but has deceptive depth, especially once you get into the later levels. Well worth the buy on sale.
My first encounter with non-educational gaming came in the form of "Battlezone", sometime in the early 90's, on my grandpa's Packard Bell with Prodigy Internet.
Windows 3.1 contained a suite of arcade classics, consisting of such titles as Centipede, Asteroids, Tempest, and so on. But Battlezone was the only one that hit me in the heart. That's because I WAS the shooter, and every enemy projectile was a take on my life, and not the life of some idiot I was looking down on.
This game is Battlezone on crack cocaine.
Vector graphics still look good to this day, but here we go beyond the greens and blacks of the original Battlezone and into the adventurous world of blues and reds and yellows.
Unlike its predecessor, which consisted of turn, forward, back, shoot, you now wield a mech suit that can strafe and jump (totally unnecessary) and look UP and DOWN while gathering powerups and health supplies to lay the smack-down on your omniscient pursuants.
You will still be fighting TANKS and SAUCERS, as well as all manner of variants with weapons similar to your own. Massive cruisers fill the sky and rain down fury from above. Carriers zip about the battlefield releasing drones to menace your chance at victory. Hitscan a-holes and OP artillery burden you from afar.
Kite. Kite. Kite. Win.
There is a story here, hidden among collectibles that are nigh-on impossible to find, unless you enjoy scrolling every pixel of every map while enemies peck away at you. Victory means immediate banishment to the next level, so kite wisely.
I fell through the map a few times, forcing me to reset my progress, but all-in-all this is a quality FPS, particularly if you are a fan of the TRON universe or bullet-hell shooters in general. 9/10
(Update: there was a new version pushed that makes the water invisible when playing on a linux system with radeon mesa graphic drivers. This makes the game unplayble.) Feels like the old Battlezone, where the vector drawn tank sneaks up behind you. Lots of different enemies, different goals that you have to figure out on your own, and seems like a lot to the gameplay. The game might support a gamepad controller, but it seems to want to use a mouse and keyboard. A little repeatitive, but for less than five dollars it is worth checking out. Works very well on ubuntu linux 16.04 with radeon mesa drivers. I was an arcade Battlezone fan, and this really scratches that itch.
You are but one mechine, How long could you last?
Fighting off waves of hostiles, the chain reactions, the multipliers!
Its very satisfying.
Plays much more like an FPS than screenshots would have you believe, with the ability to sprint, jump, and cycle through weapons. You pickup various weapons (a shotgun, rocket launcher, plasma rifle, etc...) and pray health* drops as you eliminate waves of enemies on a variety of levels (*that being said, when you clear a wave of enemies, you restore some health.).
The enemies are varied with airborne, huge tank ones, infantry, etc... It's a cool-looking game if you are immediately into the 'retro game' / 'Tron' aesthetic, and it looks better in motion while playing for yourself. Some more variety in the gameplay with the enemies attack patterns/animations or level objectives beyond "shoot everything else more than it shoots you" during these waves would make the game way more refreshing, but I've enjoyed each time I've booted it up and tried to get past its difficult swarms of enemies.
Perhaps most importantly the game's weapons and explosions all have weight to them and they're enjoyable to use. I wish you had more traversal options, like a dash or a double-jump of some kind, but the main sprinting and strafing feels reliable and smooth for the most part. It would be nice to see some kind of powerup system to modify the main rate of fire, range, or damage of the weapons but the game plays more like an old school shooter relying on the player strafing/jumping enemy attacks while constantly blasting the opposition.
There are some portions of the game that can really kill the smooth pace of the combat. For some reason -level design spoiler-(the water looks cool and all, but then once you go underneath the water and look around there (thus far 3 levels in..) has been NOTHING underneath beyond a few fish, which is a cool, surreal moment when everything above is so much different, but it feels very underdeveloped, add to that fact that whenever the player falls into these areas, they have to clumsily navigate to one of very few ladders placed around to get out again. I have seemed to get stuck at the top of these ladders very often, only to have to go back down a bit, come back up, orient the game to lift my player over these barricades/ladders but it really kills the dashing pace of the main aboveground gameplay. It didn't kill the game altogether for me or anything, but I just avoid the water from afar now.
If anything, I just wish the scope of the game were larger and included something along the lines of going into buildings, fighting underwater, or in the air beyond mostly all combat taking place along a far horizon line at the infantry level. There is very little to no story, nor do I think there should be since the game is pretty straightforward altogether. I like the music and graphics and the gameplay is fast and reliable despite the aforementioned ladder bs.
This game is badass! Like playing Battlezone on seroius jacked up steroids with an awesome soundtrack. Just like being in the old arcade again. Great game! :)
Really enjoyed this for the price. Gets a bit repetitive, but the aesthetic is beautiful; the soundtrack is thumping and the gameplay is tight. Enjoyed running round the arenas exploring them. Would recommend it.
Ok, so the game has recently been updated, and I can't say for certain how, but the game really is more playable. Long story short, I got past the third level. This is still a pretty hard game, but I think I can manage, and it is GLORIOUSLY retro in the visuals and sound, so no complaints here.
I really like where they are going with this but the game looks and plays like an Early Access title despite being 'released'.
I'll come back to it in 6 months maybe, but right now the level of jank is way too high for me to enjoy playing.
Rally cool soundtrack though.

So far it's a pretty game. I'm not so good at finding weapon pickups in certain maps, if there are any. I'm literally spending hours on waves just using the pistol, so it feels like a game of clicking the mouse while staring at gorgeous maps. I'd rate this a 7/10. Took away three just for getting stuck behind a wall while going up a ladder and for an enemy getting bounced back behind a wall preventing me from clearing a 3rd wave in District 7.
This is a REALLY cool game! It's like if serisous sam went into the Tron world! The vector graphics look great for what it is, there are many diffrent weapons, the levels are huge, and the music is fantastic!
My only complaint is when you kill an enemy, sometimes the screen shakes way too much and you fly back over 100 ft.
Other then that, great game!
Vector Wars was created with a team of 3 people. Proof that in 2015 it is still possible to make a good first person shooter. A new game using the old school method: Simplicity.
Games have never needed realistic graphics. Nor intricate story lines and complex characters. All they need is the "you vs them" formula. Give us a bunch of weapons and an army to destroy. There is an old expression and it even applies to game design: "Keep it simple, stupid." We as gamers don't need a "motivation" to blast the bits out of killer robots from space. Its just fun to do so!

Update has made the game much more enjoyable and playable. Controls easier and can pick up game with arcade mode. Wasn't a big fan before but really appreciate the authors efforts to improve the game and happy that I now have a game I can enjoy.
The game has a good premise, but that is about all it has going for it. Even the most basic enemies are damage sponges, and the game has no real sense of progress sense it is just wave after wave of enemies. If enemy health totals were changes I could see the game being more fun, but as it stands now it is a boring crappy shooter.
A fast FPS game in a world of robots, vehicles, turrets and spaceships, everything is against you. You crashed with your spaceship, now you have to kill all incoming waves, save the robo dudes and collect some messages to find your way back home. Awesome weapons and weapon-visions, epic old school sounds and a cool soundtrack in the back, nice achievements, 4 different game types (story mode included), all in all set in a really stylish neon world to praise the good old times (C64...). A must play for all retro neon old school fps freaks and everyone else i guess hehe have fun.
Great game, especially for the price. Reminiscent of the classic Battlezone, but with very pretty neon graphics & more advanced enemies.
