Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon

Game itself is 10 out of 10 no questions about it. But simply for the fact that the single player game requires an internet connection and Ubisoft insists that we need another launcher. This makes it completely unplayable, game is completely broken.

Enjoying the game but I can't recommend due to it crashing on my Windows 11. If you find it on sale for under $5 and wanna deal with it then by all means, go ahead. I love the vibe and gameplay so I'm gonna horse through it. However if you have a console and find it on sale in the store under "Classic Edition" that might work better, I don't have a console so I didn't look into it.

The story doesn't really matter, it's just like an 80's action movie. It's just overall fun

Arguably the BEST in the Far Cry series. If you want a TRUE neon 80's action movie experience with the cheesy yet re-quotable dialogue, solid game-play without the need for lengthy skill trees, an amazing synthy soundtrack by POWERGLOVE, and an overall just outstanding decently short length game.

As long was cheap as is quite a short game, is a fun romp using the standard Far Cry enemy AI which is quite predictable. Nice silly styling with the ott 80's references.

Simple but incredibly fun. I feel like most of the Far Cry games take themselves a bit too seriously. That's definitely not the case here...

Surprisingly good graphics and a killer 80s sci-fi soundtrack. The vulgar, straightforward dialogue and mission names had me laughing—it’s refreshingly blunt. I didn’t fully follow the backstory, but the neon-drenched chaos was a blast!

The storyline is quick to finish.

Ubisoft took down the online servers for this game, which would be fine if the game didn't still try to constantly connect to them... for a SINGLE PLAYER GAME.

When you start the game, or sometimes when you pause, it will try for like 15-20 seconds to try to connect to the Ubisoft servers. There's no way to skip or cancel it.

Honestly, I thought people were exaggerating when they said how terrible Ubisoft are as a company, but it's all true. For example, try to play Assassin's Creed Black Flag, and it will ask you to re-enter your password every time you launch the game. Even though your'e already logged in to the terrible Ubisoft connect application.

I will never, ever buy another Ubisoft game for as long as I live. They are the one of the worst companies I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.

This may be a good game, but it's just not worth it.

Man, this FC3 Blood Dragon is an absolute blast from the past, kind of underrated game of FC series, gameplay is incredibly engaging. For the gameplay it's 10/10, retro cyberpunk & anime vibe in FC.

A must try game of FC series you shouldn't skip at all. Only downside of this is, gameplay & story is too short. If Ubisoft had seriously taken it back then in 2013, they could push this game further, have good potential.

Ubisoft can’t help themselves, even with their classics.

Great old shooter, but not everything has aged well. The combat is great fun; however, once the player gets the Gatling gun, it becomes a walk in the park. The map is large for a DLC but feels empty. The story is great, really over the top, and the twist at the ending is totally unexpected. Sadly, Ubisoft has embedded their launcher and requires players to register an account to play, but they didn’t fix the connection error with their legacy services that constantly freezes the menus. This is not acceptable.

Shove your piece of shit launcher deep in your arse and fuck off.

So fun! Took me only 5.5 hours to 100% it, nuts to butts action the whole time.

An absolute blast to play. Gameplaywise you get nothing new aside from a helpful scanning feature and a nice Takedown mechanic. The most captivating element is the story - it is completely over the top 80s Action Cinema and you are the star. I spent more time infiltrating the garrisons, searching for collectibles and hunting as I initially thought. Highly recommended!

this is probably better than the og farcry 3 but it is too short, you can 100% it in under 10 hours.

Incredibly goofy, campy and fun! It only took me around six hours to 100% it but its just a fun ride the whole time. its full of fun dialogue, cool weapons, really good visuals and a decent story too.

This game is basically a perfect love-letter to the 80's and I absolutely loved every second of it. It's not a long game by any means, but it's every bit as fun as the original Far Cry 3. This is a game that doesn't take itself seriously; lots of tasteful 4th wall breaks and jokes. Running around the map and shooting things is very satisfying, the music is a straight-up vibe, the story and characters are hilarious, and the combat is awesome. We need more games like this.

Ubisoft didn't have to make this, but they did. Thank you.

Because the "online servers" no longer exist for this single player game, pausing the game takes a full minute while it fails to connect to servers that don't exist. This makes the game unplayable. Sorry.

Dumb fun at its best. The vibes are off the chart. The atmosphere, the music, the corny dialogue. It truly feels like an 80s spoof. Short but sweet.

Retro-futuristic fiction, with a light story and cool gameplay. After playing, you won't look at this world differently, but you will have fun. A cool shooter that really stuck with me. You won't play this game every month, but sometimes you will still come back to have fun again.

Action Packed 80's inspired enjoyment. Corny, cringey and lots of blowing up things. Good game.

Amazing spin off of Far Cry 3!

It's a love story between Dr. Carlyle and Dr. Elizabeth Darling, and Dr. Carlyles mission to win her heart while they're trying to seek best way to use dragon blood to amplify his manly abilities.

But it wouldn't be a story without an annoyance making everything difficult for him to conquer her heart. The end of the story is unexpected, but interesting enough to keep you entertained for several hours.

And there's lot of pilfering too.

*Remember, this is a spin off of the Far Cry game, this is short and simplified. For example skills are tied to levels just like in any ordinary Far Cry game, but you can't choose what to pick and when to pick them. Most weapon attachments are tied to small missions, some of them are tied to amount of VHS tapes and television sets you can find (easily), and thanks to that, there aren't many of them (max 2 missions per enemy base, most of them having just one mission (either saving a nerd, or killing an animal)). But despite it's short and simplified, it's fun to sneak to enemies and end their lives, and when you get bored to kick behinds and take names, there's jokes too. Most of my play hours are from sneaking around, but if you just run'n'gun everything, you will finish this quickly.

There's one thing which in my book gets extra mention. Dragons. I love how overpowered they are. You can kill them, but most of the time you will avoid them. Most games would benefit of having enemy like that, which isn't interested only of you, and will make you move away from area. Sometimes stories are written by themselves, and dragons in this game are like that. For example, I had killed several enemies during an entertaining gun fight and were looting their ammo, but had to leave them alone because dragon had smelled their blood. That short moment was something which I loved.

Probably my favorite Far Cry game.
A shorter, more condensed experience wrapped in a tongue in cheek 80's futuristic setting.
There is plenty of easter eggs and action movie references all the way through.
I'd love a sequel, but leaving this as a one off is maybe what makes it special.

The publisher has opted this game out of Family Sharing.

A lot more fun then the original, in it's own ways. Still like FC3 but this one makes me feel like an action hero.

I played Far Cry 1 2 and 3 just to play this. And I don't think it was worth it. While the aethetics are pretty, it's just another first person shooter. Dinosaurs aren't special or new. Turok had dinosaurs.

A great tribute to the corner stone action/sci-fi/horror movie gems of the 80's and 90's! Plus its FUN!

This is in my opinion one of the best far cry games. I played the whole game over a long weekend and I loved it. It has a really cool cyberpunk aestetic and the enviroment is bright and neon. the weapons and enemies are also really cool. Not to mention the very intriguing story. 10/10 game

Cool little addon for far cry 3. Really short tho but at least the game weights 8 gb. I beat this game in 7 hours with all the side quests and safe zones unlocked -1 hour cause i was jerking off

One of the most unique worlds I have ever explored in a video game.

Probably the best Far Cry spin off that Ubisoft made, I doubt they can make a Far Cry that gets even close to this one and the original Far Cry 3.

A good, short, fun ride that never takes itself seriously. If, like me, you don't have time to work through games that require 50-100 hours to work through and just want to blow off some steam and wipe out some bad guys, this is your ticket.
