nostalgia. if you get this game don't expect it to work online for multiplayer. I haven't found a way to do it. BUT if you just want to play on LAN you could get it to work. the way I found was to disable Wifi adapters on two PCs, connect them by Ethernet cable (assuming you have the ports to plug in to), and then follow a youtube video on setting the IP addresses so you can link the PCs. in the game you can specify the host PC's IP address (internet=yes) in the configuration screen, and then join the host. enjoy!
It is difficult, but not so much so that one is turned off, imho.
It was the only game(s) in town for many aspiring stick-jockeys, in terms of space-based dogfighting combat. . .
Nowadays, in an age graphical fidelity, it feels a lot like 'flying' around in your basic Windows starfield screensaver. . .
There are 4 titles available in this series, and this is the last & most-comprehensive of them.
That's why I grabbed it, to get the most-complete package with options for multiplay -- however, I don't have any nostalgia goggles to ultimately color my experience with this game.
So, instead, I'll play a similar game that has eye candy -- called 'STAR WARS Squadrons'.
Game says I can't play it without a joystick. Is there a way around this?
Selling 30 years old game for 10$ and not giving it keyboard support is just ridiculous...
Oh man, I remember at the time of the game's release, sitting with the game's manual, joystick and keyboard - the gameplay felt so real. Like a simulation. I wasn't a Star Wars fan, but this game was amazing.
