everything is very dynamic, the Hotline Miami style is recognizable, bloody showdowns, dynamics and complexity of levels, bosses with different approaches to killing them (gameplay moments) on normal it is difficult to get a good ending, I'm not talking about hard:))
I want to note a similar approach with dogs, where Devolver Digital managed 100% (they are simply terrible, especially zombie dogs) pixel scenes of blood and sex and the boss bear Masha, it's straight trash, I went through it for 40 minutes on the easiest level from the first time) there are many references to other moments (I personally saw Hotline Miami and from Dota 2 - Pudge)
There is a small minus, it goes very fast, I wanted a little more plot and locations, and the arenas quickly get bored with monotony
Rating 8 out of 10 rooster masks

niot gud very bad made the art is the best tho
Daily life in Chelyabinsk
This play through has cemented to me that nothing angers me more than a game whose only quality is having good art direction.
I bought this game because of some footage I've seen many years back. It was the Russian nightclub level. Turns out, that was the only cool level in the game. The rest are sewers and all the basic fixings of the beat em up genre.
Jank littered this experience. Many pointed out the hit detection, the stock narrative, and unbalance of the level design. However, the final straw for me was the final boss. Needlessly difficult. You have to beat the boss without any healing to get the good ending. You have to fight three phases each annoying in their own ways. No checkpoints. It spat on what little good will I was trying to give this game.
What's the point of dealers edition if the game has no multiplayer???
I love BeatEmUps but just compare this to Final Fight that came out in 1989. Final has better gameplay, better music, better level design and even better graphics!
more frustrating than fun
Its an okay beatemup. I personally dont like the grungy bloody gore but it grew on me and it came around to be more exciting as more chapters go on in the story mode. The beatemup gameplay is not the best, although Streets of Rage 4 absolutely spoiled me.
Regardless, an OK game.
Danke Merkel
It's amazing. I plan to play it again and beat it on hardcore mode with every character. I just beat it on normal with Sergei.
The strike zone is too narrow, it is difficult to hit the opponents, the plot is boring, I did not have the patience to go through it.
Not a bad game, not a great game..
All the expected fighting mechanics plus little more..
There are drugs to be taken with different powers, the way to get them is by playing different modes, but couldn't care less about collecting them or playing more than the story mode..
The graphics are a mixed bag, I appreciate pixel graphics and retro vibes, but this one isn't the best I've seen.. too dirty, poor colour palette, mediocre designs, repetitive enemies..
The difficulty is EXTREME at some points, specially in the end, it's really frustrating to pay on your own and the bots most of the time will be an obstacle more than a help..
Overall, I don't feel this is a great game, but it feels unfair to give a thumbs down, thanks to Steam stubbornness on keeping this misleading rating system, here's another one!
Cool beat'em up with cool mechanics, only the ending is shitty.
good
historically real and true
I love this game it’s great, but do yourself a favor buy it off the windows store. You won’t have any issues all 4 player slots are supported, you won’t have to assign keybinds to each player it’s just that much easier great game though!
If you like the Streets of Rage series and also enjoy shooting up heroin then this game is definitely for you!
I can't tell if I would or would not recommend this game. On one hand, like this game. This game is awesome to look at. The pixel graphics gives it a really great look. I love pixel art because it makes the aesthetic timeless. Also the music is really awesome to listen to. I would put this OST in a compilation. On top of this there is some depth to the combat system that makes it really engaging to play. I think that this game has some really good challenges to overcome as well.
On the other hand, this game has some issues. Sometimes the difficulty can feel really unfair and frustrating. To start, there is no form of a "get off me" attack. So when you get swarmed, there is absolutely nothing you can do. If they just had a move like that then it would make things a little more fair, even if it takes a little bit of your health like in every other game. On top of that the hit detection is off. Sometimes your attacks will tend to whiff when it really shouldn't, considering you will get hit in the same exact spot by the target you are attempting to hit. Sometimes this game can be infuriating because the difficulty can come off as cheap in certain sequences.
I guess I shall say that because the story mode is doable, that I can recommend this game because of all it has to offer. However don't even bother trying to unlock the extra power-ups in the arena mode.
Kids, don't do drugs. Uncle Ivan told me that before ripping 2 guys apart with his bare hands
One of the hardest games I´ve played so far even on easy difficulty. For me it was a mid game for a number of reasons. Firs the positives I am a sucker for a good pixel art so instatn plus also the story of this world and overall setting is amazing. Most of the fighting mechanics work really well. One thing I hated were guns. If
don´t dodge which is a bit clanky then you get shot to death where you stand. Another thing the AI of your companions is trash. One thing this game should be know for is that it is very very hard and it will not hold you hand you will get mad and you will smash your contorller or keybord. But that is not a bad thing that is what this game is. 6/10
It's Ok.
Already finished the game on Switch; I'll tell you my opinion.
Game is very nice. Perfectly balanced in difficulty, concepts I've never seen before, amazing soundtrack and very fun levels. That's all.
I love taking drugs
The hit box is absolute garbage
Very brutal beatem up with lots of fun to be had. It has no online co op only local for some stupid reason as the game seems built around the idea of online play. I was digging the weird enemy variety and really out there locations at times. Biggest gripes are the local only co op and the fact that some moves just don't work half of the time weather your doing them correctly or not and this led to me dying by being combo chained to death with little to nothing I could do about it. Should not the different syringes in game are definitely worth obtaining as it leads to more interesting gameplay as a whole but more importantly I could hit people so damn hard they simply exploded. Hard to argue with that kinda motivation.
P.S. For those who don't have a friend locally to jam with but would still like to or want to achievement hunt. I tried steam remote play and it was downright awful as usual so we tried something called Parsec and it was exactly what we needed. Give that a shot.
not fair towards the end. frustrating at times.
Classic beat 'em up action, but in Russia, on drugs.
USSR indeed bleeds
Mother Russia Bleeds is the video game equivalent of drinking ten shots of vodka and challenging a bear to a fistfight. Set in a grungy, ultra-violent Soviet-inspired world, this beat-‘em-up brawler feels like a love letter to classic arcade games—if those games were raised on tracksuits, balalaikas, and a hefty dose of “Gopnik vs. Government” rebellion.
Gameplay: Heavy-Hitting Like a Hammer and Sickle
Playing Mother Russia Bleeds feels like going one-on-one with a pack of wild babushkas armed with frying pans. You choose from one of four fighters, each with their own flavor of brutality, as you pummel your way through corrupt cops, vicious thugs, and shady government types. It’s all about smack, punch, smack some more, with each hit landing harder than your average Soviet slap.
And you’re not just fighting for your life—you’re fighting while juiced up on “Nekro,” a very Russian concoction that keeps you going in the most extreme (and painful) way possible. Need health? Just shoot up some Nekro from a mysterious syringe. It’s probably the only game where your health bar depends on a questionable substance straight from the Motherland. Talk about a real dose of Russian hospitality!
Story and Atmosphere: Bleak and Blin’ Bloody
Mother Russia Bleeds isn’t shy about its Soviet roots. The story is a gritty trip into a corrupt, brutalized USSR, where rebels don tracksuits and go to war with the state. The bleakness is almost poetic, like a Dostoevsky novel—if Dostoevsky was also kicking in doors and throwing haymakers.
The visuals? Imagine the harshest Russian winter painted in pixel art, with blood splattered like borscht across every inch of the screen. You’ll feel like you’ve taken a hard left at Red Square straight into a fight club hosted by Mother Russia herself.
Graphics and Sound: Music to Your Vodka-Filled Ears
The soundtrack has the intensity of a rave in Moscow’s deepest underground bunker, pulsing and grinding as you throw punch after punch. It’s industrial, loud, and relentless—a fitting backdrop to all the pixelated mayhem. And the graphics? Gritty, bloody, and somehow charming in their chunky pixelated way. It’s like the harsh landscape of Russia got compressed into pure arcade style, all grunge and no glitter.
Verdict
Playing Mother Russia Bleeds is like diving face-first into a Russian meme—a mix of rage, dark humor, and that stubborn “I-won’t-go-down-easy” spirit. It’s brutal, messy, and undeniably fun, like the gaming equivalent of sitting down with a bowl of pelmeni and a bottle of vodka, getting your fill of Soviet nostalgia with every punch.
Rating: 8/10
Get ready to bleed for the Motherland, comrades. Mother Russia Bleeds is the ultimate Gopnik brawler, a game that demands you wear a tracksuit, pour a glass, and prepare for a night of beautiful, violent chaos.
I want to like the game, its gritty gory art style is gorgeous and iconic. The brawling is very Streets of Rage-esque, its just the bosses, maybe I'm getting old but they're OP and cheaty. The game feels unfair and makes you hate it, which is not a positive. Games should be fun, this is just kinda aggravating which in 2024 isnt what I need.
I get to shit in my hand and throw it at people as a taunt
11/10 game
Dark immersion that TMNT fans will love
I love abusing drugs and beating up the homeless!
+
Really fun beat em up, especially in couch co op. Use the RT and pulp the boss.
Really fun gameplay that hasn't gotten old despite many many playthroughs of the game, the story is pretty short however replaying it is always fun with the brutal animations and variety of weapons and environmental factors.
Romania simulator
Mr. Vlad approves.
Also I need an anime of this game.
Who agrees?
Something about ultra-violence and Russia seems very contemporary
i love slamming crack and beating homeless people to a pulp
The art style and music is really good. The controls are not super crisp, which is a real shame in a game of this type. There is not a lot of variation in the combat but it manages to stay interesting enough. The story mode is short but there are some elements for replayability
Had fun with this game. Tho surrounded combat is mostly jumping and air attacking so you don't get hit. Really liked the pixel art. I recommend playing with a friend
