Описание

This is the second chapter from the "Heaven Forest" series.
While in the first game we explored the meaning of life, in this second chapter we wonder about the opposite: what is the meaning of death?

We are born and we grow up and we step by step we come to terms with the fact that sooner or later we will die. So, in the end, have everyday efforts any meaning at all?

And again: do life and death have a meaning at all? If there is meaning, is it for the good or for the bad?
Why is death a presence in our lives?
Is there something beyond the physical after death?

The awareness of our own immanent death is a major feeling. But it's also the beginning of wisdom.

Throughout the game you'll find scrolls of wisdom that will help you concentrate and think at a more profound level.
The human nature will be unfolded once you'll find all the scrolls.

The VR device is NOT required in order to play the game.
VIVE and Oculus are the supported devices you can use.

Note: This review is copy + pasted from my review for Heaven Forest VR MMO. This is because this entire "game" is copy and pasted from Heaven Forest VR MMO. That's right, the developer copy + pasted their entire game, changed the time of day to "night", and published as an entirely new game with little to no noticable changes. Why this kind of thing is permitted on Steam is beyond me.

I'm not really sure if "Heaven Forest NIGHTS" is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself.

All you do in this little tech demo mess is wander around, "collect" stuff (there is no point in doing so) and read bits of floating text... there's not enough substance here to truly call this a game, it's barely a walking sim. It's not an MMO and it's unclear why the developer has simply outright lied about that... but deliberately misrepresenting a game to get sales is highly unethical.

Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.

The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.

This was designed primarily for VR (but it will work without a headset, not that anyone would want to try). The VR focus of the game is a major crutch here, because without VR, this compares poorly to professionally developed games. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Heaven Forest NIGHTS has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for collecting an apple, trivial to achieve, but less than 5 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.

Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 5 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game.

That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.

So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?

"Heaven Forest NIGHTS" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.

I have no idea what this is trying to be. It's just a big open area with things to pick up. If you want to hang with people, there are so many better options.

I like this game! I bought both of the Heaven Forest games as I love nature (the moon is particular stunning in this one!), calming atmosphere, animals and I am interested in spirituality and philosophy.

If I could see a place to assign stars, I'd give this a 4. I enjoy the graphics. tone, and general game play,

What I don't like about it is that it goes too fast (I'd prefer a walking pace, not a run) and the response to the mouse is wildly sensitive (so much so I get nausea if I'm not careful).

otherwise it is pleasant, the animas are cute (though not all of them work) and graceful. I wish there were fewer flame-red squirrels; they are distracting.

There's not alot here to comment on. I don't know Shinto philosophy, but the Buddhist statue didn't relate to the main teachings of the Buddha. The blue flame that follows gets in the way. There are no blinders for movement so it'll VR sickness pretty fast. Requires keyboard mouse. I like the animals but they don't interact.

Whenever I feel lost in my own world. This gave me a chance to walk around somewhere that doesn't exist in the real world. It made me feel collected and found rather than just drifting away with the flow. It's nice. :)

I don't usually flip reviews from bad to good, but here goes. Finding the scrolls in the right order gives you a more meaningful if still slightly confusing sense of Buddhism. In the wrong order they can come off as dark or depressing because they are out of context.

Unfortunately, I got extreme VR sickness the first couple of plays on my Oculus Rift. Sometimes odd angles and the rapid spin my overly responsive gamepad gave can do that. So I tried the Win 7 fix. It certainly adjusted the height, but then the game would not display on my Rift though I could have played it on the screen.

Happily, seeing the kitsune made me clever because I sort of cobbled together using the keyboard to move and jump and the left controller to steer. It isn't a bad fix and since I'm flying I went with the idea of being a clever messenger fox for Inari.

It is a really pretty game and a sort of mind no mind type of pointless wander and ponder, but it is still buggy. If the bugs could be fixed, like falling through the cave floor, and the pretty music extended to cover bigger areas of the map that would be awesome.

I liked the night landscape and it seems like the devs did add things like stars and fish after being asked. The kitsune foxes and spirit tigers were cute and it was nice to see the other animals such as deer and rabbits return. Also happy to see the tori gates back. Any game that has so many things that remind me of Inari brings a smile to my face.

Maybe since Buddhism is in the series a game about his life or the religion in general?

If you're into walking simulators, this one is ok. The environments are interesting and varied, a couple animals make it a bit more alive. There's a decent amount of things to collect and the level design does a good job at guiding players to the different areas. The narrative bits were not really worth it. I wanted to know where it went but it felt more like cheap metaphysical considerations pasted from a quotes site rather than a thoughtfully crafted narrative, it wasn't as thought provoking as it could have been.

easy peasy lemon squeezy - nothing to do but to collect stuff for achievements:
quatrefoils are all within 6-7m range of a bench.
crystals: @ starting point, 2x in cave, cave entrance left, cave entrance right, lake by the waterfall
meaning of life: activate all 12 illuminated balls @ the philosophical notes
apples and mushrooms: take your time, walk down the whole map several times & from different angles

A lovely game. A few spelling errors, but the overall feel of the game isn't hindered by it at all.
Part of me wishes there was a counter so I could see what I'd collected so far, but another side of me is kind of just happy to relax and enjoy the game.
It's like a lovely tubing ride down a scenic slow river.
Its aesthetic is like the black panther dream sequences.

I would say I'm fairly religous myself, and I did somewhat like the teachings, but man... it was so frustrating to walk/fly around the map. And the ironic thing is the teaching talks about purpose, but wheres the purpose in the actual game?
I genuinely paid attention to what this game wants to say and I collected all items I could encounter and got all the flying orbs, but GOD I WAS DISAPPOINTED! THERE IS NO ENDING TO THIS GAME!

I guess one thing i recommend this game doing is Instead of giving players the freedom to get to any part of the scrolls they should at least order it so that it's more interesting. Like for example, some players could read positive scrolls first and then end up with reading rest of the more dark feeling scrolls later which could leave a bitter impression. But putting an ending would be the best because it gives the developer a chance to be able to summarize the content. So even if some players have a hard time understanding some of the teachings you could be more down to earth to explain it and use more spoken words.

Sorry but i'll give this game a 3/10

This game is absolutely amazing.
Essentialy it covers what life (and death) is, but in such an extremely deep way that 99% of people will not understand it at all.
It mixes religion, science and philosophy. If you have studied a lot in your life, if you are interested what more is there to life than our physical realm, this game is perfect for you.

If you don`t care about deep studies much the developers have also created a sort of "find all the items" thing that will keep you entertained.

10/10 if you are able to enjoy it as it is intended to be enjoyed.

Personally, it's really not even a game it's just navigating through a dream world, which is pretty, BUT no actual game play at all, just a bunch of biblical crap and personally I'm not religious, so unless your a religious freak, stay away from this game, one just floats around and reads biblical thoughts on what someones view point is on the matter, too narrow minded which the world has so many different avenues of thinking.

Granted it's a game that tries to immerse you into thinking about life and death, great but the one sided way it makes you do so, um yha, NO thank you.

I'm reviewing the VR experience with keyboard and mouse. There's just not much to do. You explore around. You find these scrolls. You're supposed to pick up apples, mushrooms, and clovers, etc. The scrolls just say some vague stuff about life and death.

Movement controls are not very smooth. The scenic landscapes, while imaginative, have low textures. You really just aimlessly wander around until you find items.

On the positive side, it is very low priced and can make you sleepy.

Rating 4/10 only buy if you're into this kind of experience

This game is very calming. Its probably one of my favorite games in the Heaven Forest series. The graphics are great. It was worth the $0.99. Wish it was more money.
I recommend this game to people who are looking for a relaxing exploration game that has a meaning to it.

I got this on sale bringing the already low price of 99 cents to 69 cents and I thought to myself: "this game looks amazing, what could possibly make this game NOT worth the small change that it costs?" Well, I found one. Upon booting up the game I was greeted with a glitch that sent me spinning in place uncontrolably. The developers told me to unplug my controller, and I happily abliged. That is until I realized that the game requires you to use a keyboard to move weather you have the vive or not! Don't want to write a program for the vive controllers like other free vive games have? FINE! But at the very least, let us use a wireless controller without making us puke so that we can actually stand up in room scale!

For a walking sim, this is okay, but the ability to fly needs to be taken out! If the landscape was much larger this might be okay, but the area is small and you can see all the boundries. The graphics aren't that great and it really looks bad from up above. Too much pop-in also from above. Looking down from above makes all your hard work look like it was made by an amature. TAKE OUT THE FLYING! Just my opinion... Otherwise it's okay, but just okay. Nothing great. I recommend this on sale, but only to people that like "short" walking sims.
