This game is a blast. The controls are simple and feel great and so are all the guns. Great game to boot up for something simple to play. The achievements are also all fun to get.

Originally played this on a PlayStation with my monitor sideways. Enjoyed it so much I'm giving it another go here. Have I ever finished it? No. But it's still fun so whatever.

For 3 bucks, it's kind hard not to recommend. I've gotten a couple of hours of fun out of it over the years.

Short, concise, and perfect in its mechanics this is what anyone should look for in a solid roguelike; an experience where player knowledge goes a long way compared to reliance on getting an game-breaking item combo. While this game does have upgrades and items, they're mainly supplemental and designed to enhance your existing kit or help you get a quick heal.

Its just a GOOD game its that simple, and for 3 dollars that's a steal.

Amazing little game, very fun and challenging rogue-like with short runs which makes for a great game if you don't have time for games with one-hour-long runs or so.

A surprising amount of depth, if not for the quick gameplay loop it would go downhill fast.

Okay those two sentences were mostly jokes but seriously: it's easy to learn but comes with a real feeling of mastery once you 'get good'. The small scale makes the gameplay loop quick and the presentation and controls are really satisfying.

Simple and addicting just wish the visuals were a bit better so i can tell where my guys at while falling and having a gem boost causing the gem boost flare to mix with the guy making your guy look like a giant blurry blob making it hard to tell exactly where you're at while falling. Causing you to bump into enemies and take damage. super fun game i would forsure recommend if on sale!

Not a bad idea for a game, but I feel like it sort of farms mental stress and that isn't what I want. Basically a lightspeed vertical autoscroller.

One of the most tightly designed games that I know of. It achieves to deliver so much while being very small in scale. So easy to learn and hard to master (I barely can go past 2nd stage)

A masterpiece of an arcade-style game, with tight controls and a surprising amount of strategy bound within only a few simple mechanics. Also, the art is gorgeous even despite the use of only 3 colors, and the music is FIRE.

5/10 I bought it twice (good oldie games too). Gameplay is 1/10 just unbearable but the art is 10/10, I absolutely love this on OLED

Can't imagine another dollar game being better than this. Wicked fun and super tough. Might be a bit brutal on the learning curve for some. They had me at gunboots.

What's that lassie, the boy with the gunboots fell down the well. 26 hours and I still haven't gotten very far, however, the game-play, mechanics, the JUICE, not to mention the extras like palletes have made all 26 hours worth it.

Fantastic Game. I felt motivated to 100% it. This one is a great example that games don't need to be huge and jam-packed with content to to be engaging. The controls feel great and there are different styles you can play with, each with a different movement feel. I liked 'floaty'. There's lots of replay-ability since the levels are random and there are lots of goals to shoot for (new palettes, game modes, achievements). I also love the combo mechanic in this game, (it's super satisfying) I just wish there were higher rewards past a combo of 25. The music and art are also great. Would definitely recommend picking this one up, especially since it's pretty cheap.

My all-time favorite arcade style game. Does everything it sets out to do perfectly. It's incredibly satisfying to beat, and then introduces new styles and levels of challenge. Take my word for it when I say infinite replay value

Downwell is one of the most punchy, perfectly condensed games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. I bought this game years ago based off of a Dunkey recommendation, and have played it in bursts for years now. Honestly one of the best pick up and play games ever, punishing but fair, and addictive as hell.

The gameplay loop seems simple, but there’s a lot of nuance between the customizable styles and you can really get quite experimental depending on how much you want to risk health. Stacking combos is extremely addicting, which is complimented excellently by the slightly bit-crushed sound design that really evokes that arcade feel. There’s a lot of variety in how you build your character, with lots of unique items to obtain between stages.

Aside from that, the presentation is awesome, I love how it uses its’ vertical screen to convey how quickly and narrowly you’re flying down this endless well. Also, the OST is great, though I would often turn it off and just play my own music, it’s excellent to play while listening to something else. Would definitely recommend picking it up for the price alone.

This is up there for top best mobile games that I have ever played.

The entire premise of the game being that every mechanic has two uses like jumping to shoot and move most likely really made them think about each and every detail about the game. The game has a great soundtrack and extremely simple controls that feel nice to use (except wall jumping I struggled a bit on that). The difficulty really starts ramping up and there are tons of customization options to unlock. The graphics are extremely simple but very clean and nice to look at.

For only 3$ this game is a must try.

So why was this removed from store and re-added here and on google play? I had to rebuy this gem but seems kinda like shady business practices to remove from players libraries and make them rebuy? Very unlike the publisher so I'm guessing the Developer would have some more information? A response would be super welcome Devs!

very good arcadey experience with very thought out mechanics and gameplay,

i love how the game encourages you to reach bigger combos through resources after reaching combo milestones and how combos arent broken by visiting treasure room or shops.

runs are relatively short and the gameplay loop is very addictive, reaching high combos feels euphoric and rewarding (also due to the sound design and visual feedback)

my main gripe with the game is that theres quite a high learning curve to this game since youll have to do a lot quick thinking and make precise movements to keep your combo up and not get hit since taking damage is very easy and healing back up is hard, thus i couldnt recommend this to everyone, but for those that are into hardcore platformers and the like, such as me, this is absolutely a must play in my opinion

The movement is terrible. It's so subtle, but there's a delay when you start to move (like acceleration) and you move too fast once it ramps up.

The collision/hit boxes are terrible too. Times when I should clearly take damage? I don't. Times when I landed right on an enemy's head and shouldn't take damage? I do.

It's fun, love the retro theme and the gameplay

Most of the upgrades and stuff don't really help, some of the gun upgrades are good I guess but none of it is really needed to beat the base game (not interested in the hard mode)

It's a fun game, and I would definitely recommend it. I prefer to play it while I watch an educational but boring video, to make studying more fun.
