Who doesn't love age of empires 2 but star wars, classic game loved as a child and still do. little bit harder to play when comparing to aoe2 de because of the small improvements to that over the years that aren't in this star wars version. But the game is still epic and a blast from the past! :)

The Ewoks aren’t just a fighting force, they’re the loyal voters of the galaxy, securing you a victory through sticks, stones, and an unshakable determination, all while the big imperial figures crumble. The droids, on the other hand, are like empty promises: they shine, but are utterly useless. What truly matters is the power of the masses, the Ewoks, who, when they rise, make the entire Empire shake… or rather, collapse. Who needs a complex strategy when you have the inertia of the people? It’s like expecting everything to work out just by saying "yes, we can," only to find yourself ruling the universe, much like an election campaign film. Power, true power, lies in the collective. And in this case, in the Ewoks, who, no matter what they do, will always be the foundation on which everything is built, with the same fervor as pure “Peronism.”

If you've got some money to burn, and want something more simple to occupy your time, I would highly recommend this. It may not be as advanced as a Paradox game, but it's got enough to keep you interested. Tack on some old school charm and you've got a fun little game. The only thing I have to complain about is the amount of micro-managing you have to do, but maybe that just means I'm too lazy lol. It does take some getting used to, but it's not overly complex.

Played this game a lot when growing up, still an awesome game in 2024. Love the cheat codes, something that is a thing of the past.

Old school RTS

What happens when you mix one of the greatest movie franchises of all time and one of the best games of the RTS genre? You get a great game. That's what Star Wars Battlegrounds is. A masterfully crafted RTS skin of Age Of Empires. There isnt much to milk of the old graphics engine, but to be honest, the touch and personality of the 2d sprites, added to the beautifully painted buildings and units, is really hard to improve.

Something i couldnt bear was the music. I had to mute it. Gathering resources and listening to a really hard and epic music for 3 hours isnt something to enjoy. Same goes for very intense battles and listening to a calm soundtrack from Episode I.

This game is Age of Empires meets Star Wars. It's one of the only times you can actually have the Galactic Republic against the Empire

I like playing the sandbox, making up my own battles.

Great old school game with enough variety and interest to keep me coming back.

Perfect game where you can grow your own home bases, farm, mine, chop wood, fish, increase monk knowledge to convert enemies at the end, while not killing them. You have to keep your skill improvement going. Never a moment to do anything but play.

Ah, the nostalgia is strong with this game.

Game does not open. I can watch the opening cut scene then I get stuck at a black screen until the game crashes

Only a few things missing that I can remember from the original, would love to see an upgraded graphics version come into the modern day - otherwise it is fun to play.

Keeps crashing mid game. With no autosave feature, the game becomes unplayable. I love the game. Its super nostalgic... but I cant keep dedicating an hour of play to an eventual crash.

Will try to reinstall and see if it helps, but I doubt it.

Super fantastic game. Been playing this game for over 20 years.

I have big nostalgia. Played this game when it was new before the Clone Campaigns. I never even knew about that expansion. I know this game is like a reskin rip of another game but I like this one because Star Wars. I'm just playing the vanilla game until I beat all the campaigns and then I'll either download mods or abandon it. It's my current fun and worth the money. Even more when its on sale.

so good def an old game needs a remaster but still so good

I grew up with this game. I loved it as a kid. I wanted empire at war but ended up getting this and I loved it anyway. As an adult im trying to play again and there is one problem that ruins the game

Difficulty

If you have it too low then the ai doesn't attempt to do anything and they're easy to beat. But if you put it on hard the ai is almost unbeatable. They get resources faster than you, they get units faster than you and before you can even start an army you got one hundred tanks, starfighters and air cruisers coming after you. I have to constantly restart games cause I just cant win. I spam workers, make walls and turrets early and I still get overrun. It's not fair. It's impossible and the only way I avoid losing every time is I evacuate my base and build a base in the forest in a open space surrounded by tree's where the ai cant get me and I slowly wear them down.

I'm currently playing with the expanding fronts mod and its a nightmare. The new factions are extremely unbalanced. The difficulty of the ai makes it invincible. This is unbeatable on hard difficulty. There is no way you can beat the ai with its lightning fast building speed. It's unfair and makes me want to stop playing every time.

Empire at war is a million times better. At least the ai doesnt have an army of thousands ten minutes into the match.

I loved this game as a kid but as an adult the game is unbalanced, unfair and unfun. Losing every time I play is not my idea of fun.

great classic star wars game what a blast from the past

Not sure if it's just me but I have constant issues with screen flicker and game crashes. This used to run fairly well but now I cannot play it due to the crashing.

Je ne suis pas un grand joueur de RTS, simplement parce que je n'ai pas grandi avec un ordinateur à la maison. Mais le genre m'a toujours fort intrigué. Ce titre me satisfait assez pleinement et expand assez coolment le lore de Star Wars (noter que ce n'est plus "canon").
