Classic Game
+++++ I had previously only played Red Alert (1) and wasn't sure if I would like this. The campaign missions are great, and the videos are fun. As far as I know multiplayer (and co-op during campaign) servers are down, but a workaround to play with friends and others exists.

If you like Command and conquer you will like this one to... if you don't you wont
Best online Game Ever
nostalgia, still good even now
good classic game
Best of the best
i cant stop playing lol better with mods but most mods are out of date plus kane not init and do flame tanks
Awesome faction and unit designs and voices, hilariously cheesy dialogue from famous actors, graphics that hold up extremely well today. The gameplay is more difficult than other games in the series, having changed to a focus on micromanaging multiple things at once that you didn't have to worry about that much in previous games like protecting harvesters, securing more money, and carefully positioning units and using their unique abilities. Fair warning, official online servers went down ten years ago and you'll have to find community servers and ways to get into them from the game. C&C online was able to do this after a pretty easy process that they provide instructions for step-by-step. Had a blast in the co-op campaign with friends and family!
enjoyed the different story line
Honestly, it just felt like a major step down from Red Alert 2. I was hoping to continue the fun with the next game in the series, but instead I just felt so let down that even the great FMV's couldn't keep me interested.
Great game👍
Absolutely goated game! Every fan of the RTS genre should try this gem. Entertaining story, fun units and gameplay and (in my opinion) the best visual style of any rts out there.

The campaign and the acting was all great
all sorts of bugs and non responsive BS going on. Hard AI is already cheap af these technical problems make it unplayable
Play Red Alert, or Red Alert 2 instead, this was terrible and it aged badly
nostalgic playing since high school
we gonna conquer the world with this one 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥

PRO's: A drunken Russian conscript and a trained bear become brothers while attempting the task of assassinating the Emperor of Japan, George Tekai.
CON's: This game was made with co-op in mind, and requires a community patch to bring that back. The AI has its own attitude toward base building, defense, etc. While it's not bad it's obviously not ideal, but because you can build on your allied forces ground control, you essentially have twice the space and sight.
Not as good as RA2 & YR overall, but then again, what is? Getting those actors to act like that in higher def movies is one reason alone to get it though.

I love the red alert franchise as a whole
One of the best Command & Conquer games with the iconic video cut scenes.

TOTAL GARBAGE! Not only does the attempt to be funny with over the top crap like flying bears fail miserably, but the cartoonish graphics is utterly ugly.
No, its not what I thought it is. it's more for kids
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is a brilliantly chaotic blend of real-time strategy, over-the-top military action, and a healthy dose of campy humor that makes it a true classic in the RTS genre. Set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union and the Allied Nations are locked in an epic struggle, the game is packed with unforgettable units, outrageous plots, and enough explosions to satisfy even the most discerning general.
One of the standout features of Red Alert 3 is its engaging story campaign, which combines live-action cutscenes with a cast of colorful characters, including some truly memorable performances. The over-the-top narrative feels like a classic action movie—complete with absurd plots, outlandish characters, and cheesy one-liners that will have you chuckling as you command your forces. Who knew world domination could be this entertaining?
Gameplay-wise, Red Alert 3 shines with its unique three-faction system: the Allies, the Soviets, and the Empire of the Rising Sun. Each faction brings its own playstyle, units, and strategies to the table, offering endless replayability. The Allies boast advanced technology and naval power, the Soviets rely on brute force and overwhelming numbers, while the Empire introduces futuristic units and the ability to transform structures. Whether you prefer to rush your opponent with tanks or outsmart them with naval tactics, there’s a strategy for everyone.
The gameplay itself is fast-paced and frenetic. You’ll find yourself managing resources, building bases, and commanding armies while fending off enemy attacks and devising your own offensive strategies. The game encourages creative tactics, allowing you to set up ambushes, utilize terrain to your advantage, and exploit your enemy’s weaknesses. And let’s not forget about the iconic units! Who wouldn’t want to deploy a giant war bear or a massive aircraft carrier armed with laser technology? The sheer variety of units and their whimsical designs make every match feel like a unique experience.
Multiplayer is where Red Alert 3 really shines, too. Team up with friends or take on opponents in intense matches that require quick thinking and solid teamwork. The game balances fun and competitiveness perfectly, making it easy to jump in for a quick match or dedicate hours to strategic warfare. Plus, the cooperative campaign mode lets you team up with a friend to tackle missions, which adds an extra layer of strategy and fun as you coordinate your attacks and defenses.
Visually, Red Alert 3 stands out with its vibrant graphics and unique art style, making the chaos of battle a feast for the eyes. The maps are detailed and varied, providing plenty of opportunities for tactical maneuvers and surprise attacks. The sound design is equally impressive, with a dynamic soundtrack and sound effects that enhance the immersive experience of commanding your forces.
In summary, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is a delightful mix of strategy, humor, and action that has stood the test of time. With its engaging story, unique factions, and chaotic gameplay, it’s a must-play for any RTS fan or anyone looking to have a blast commanding their armies in a zany alternate history. So grab your headset, gather your troops, and prepare to dive into a world of strategic warfare where the only thing more outrageous than the units is the storyline itself!
i used to play this game with my dad and it was super fun would recommend

method 2 (no need to change proton compatibility version)
Summary:
1. Install protontricks (via Discovery or pacman or apt)
2. Run game at least once so that the pfx folder is created so protontricks can see it
2.1 When you run protontricks GUI it will ask you which game prefix to use (virtual environment)
3. (proton/winetricks) WineCfg, emulate/enable Virtual Desktop (1280x720 will suffice)

The campaign and the acting was all great
The graphics are amazing...
Scroll speed is fucked when you touch mouse at edge of screen it is slow at first an then it accelerates too much literally unplayable!
Incrivel, recomendo, pois o red alert 2 nao roda em pc atuais
this is good it makes me wanna make apolcpyse tanks and charge them at randm people in the street
Terrible missions, terrible factions, terrible units, not even co-op saves this one from being a terrible CnC experience. At least it is better than 4, barely.
Very fun and the co-op campaign is enjoyable! Just not as many factions as other games.
An invite to Gemma Atkinson's flat for "dinner". Thank you very much. I accept.
A great game and can be online if you use a service like C&C Online or GameRanger.
Attempted to play a LAN game - presented with "CD Key already in use".
It didn't age well. When you think that Starcraft 2 went out only 2 years later with much more fluid graphics and commands and is still playable today. That one Red Alert 3 oin the other hand, has very outdated command system and graphics that will burn your eyes. I really don't recommend it
An oldie of a game but one that I've always favoured in the C&C series, wish they continued making games now
Awesome. This is an RTS game. The graphics are good. The music is adequate. The story is funny and keeps you interested.
No bugs but some crashes.
Overall, very entertaining. Command and Conquer is one of the best franchises ever. Red Alert 3 doesn't disappoint. It features 3 campaigns with several missions. There are several units, special powers, and different victory conditions. Sometimes it gets a little hard but never insanely difficult. The story is not bad, even if full of cliches. The live-action cutscenes are legendary, with a cast including several well-known actors and actresses. I will not spoil anything, though. This is a gem, maybe even a retro gem, a game full of charm and an easy recommendation.
This is gonna be a long one Boys and Girls. After playing it for a bit I am a little surprised at how decent it is, but its far from an amazing game, its not great, its not bad, just good. After playing the campaign and a few skirmishes, it gets better but its not without its cons.
My Ratings: Bad, Poor, Good, Great, Amazing
First off, Story: Concept wise it had an idea of what it wanted to be, but I feel there was way too much focus on the Rising Sun faction coming to power in every campaign rather than the threat of the Red Army which is essentially the title of the game, Red Alert. Every story starts off slow for some reason and I cant explain why, I just didn't know who the real threat was supposed to be other than the Rising Sun. Time travel isn't new for the franchise, and the idea behind why it was used here was good on paper, but executed poorly. Without getting into too much detail on time traveling since everyone has a different opinion on it, split branches are fine, each has their own story to tell, but for the sake of continuity there needed to be some consistency between all three. It felt as if it was trying to be its own story with each faction with some ties in between but just didn't know how to accomplish this. Story wise Ill give this a Poor rating.
Acting: As much as I have issues with the acting I cant entirely blame the Actors/Actresses for their portrayals, but I can critique how they acted given the direction they had. Back to story, Red Alert 2 was the birth of campy moments for the franchise and at the time I feel as if those who played the game ignored what made RA2 great, it was serious about its story but self aware of its campyness. It wasn't over-the-top goofy with forced dialogue as Red Alert 3 is. Why does every win need to be met with a "Great Job Commander! You did it! Congratulations!" This type of behavior defeats any serious tone the game tried to go for. Over acting was definitely a huge reason why I give the acting a poor rating, you could tell everyone either didn't understand the game and was either way to eager to be there or just there for a paycheck. The co-commanders are a prime example of this, I don't want to see unrealistic snarky attitude thrown my way every time I lose a game or win depending. I'd much rather see a grounded attitude, with a more realistic tone. The cut-scenes were just all over the place with not being sure if it needed to take itself seriously or throw in some forced sillyness to break tension where there was none at all. Allies played too hard into this unfortunately as they're famously known for taking an invasion serious and not letting anyone try to get the better of them. Russian acting was fine and expected as their history in the franchise, again most notably RA2, is that we're going to crush you with a smile attitude, especially Krukov', I thoroughly enjoyed his acting as he was one of the few that actually took the role seriously and it felt as if his character wanted the Red Army to succeed, but at times he also fell into that category of too much when it came to the role of Co-Commander. Rising Sun, where do I even being with this one, I cringed at almost every cut-scene. There was so much that I feel they got wrong with their roles in this, everything felt so forced and out of place, even for a culture known for honor in the real world, their portrayal gave it no justice. As unfortunate as that is to say I truly believe this is felt with just about everyone who played through the campaign. Tone-deaf endings, this one is so obvious for so many unnecessary reasons, ever for its time in the late 2000s. The sexualization of women in this game was blatantly use to grab a male audience. Not a single moment as a guy, did I not have a cringe feeling watching these actresses feel uncomfortable playing there roles. RA2 handled this with CLASS. There was no indication except for Eva, that there was a love interest and even that felt extremely force. Over-all there are only a few moments that gives the acting a saving grace from Bad to Poor, the acting was just Poor for me.
Game-Play: This wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, even if field mining was stripped completely for a more micro focused game-play. Base building is still a strong focus as you need certain building to unlock certain tech trees, which leads to my first issue, shared money in the campaign. I don't like this idea having a Co-Commander sharing my money, let me spend it the way I want and suffer the consequences if I over spend. I found myself doing that a lot, and on the flip-side, it actually came in handy when the Co-Op had captured Oil Derricks I missed or an Ore Refinery to help supplement my income loss. Some big issues I found were that when there was hardly any money rolling in, the game dragged and lacked that face paced luster it trying to go for, but when I did have the money and built an army it felt great. Balance wise this is an era of microing units so the interface was a little confusing at first, but after a while I was able to figure it out and they were actually useful, but I didn't use them as much as I would have thought or have liked to. I think one issue I felt was when you wanted to use an ability one time, you had to individually click one unit at a time to use it, if not all of them would use it at once. Not a big grip as in some instances it was useful. AI wasn't terrible, but halfway decent, it took care of one side of the map while you focused on the other and for the most part held its own pretty well. As the game progressed further I learned what units were good against what, but comparatively to past games, everything felt squishy. Russian Apocalypse tanks really stood out as an example, losing its anti-air for an ability that could pull a unit in to grind was a decent trade-off as well as being able to just roll over other tanks and obstacles to crush them, fairly fun. But when they got close to base defenses they almost always got obliterated with two shots as defenses in this game are fairly strong. Rolling in with a death-ball could result in catastrophe if you don't pullback micro. Allies Mirage tanks and their Athena Cannons were really strong, but super squish and for good reason. Mirage tanks were a surprisingly nice combination of Prism tanks and Mirage tanks from RA2. Having the ability to blend in with the environment and spit out spreading lasers became an iconic staple of the Allies in the last iteration of the franchise so it was nice to see it stayed but with a different naming scheme. Athena Cannons are great siege tanks with visual indication to avoid the incoming attack and move at a fairly decent speed to get in or out of range. Rising Sun, Wave-Force Artillery for mid-long range siege, Rocket Angels for anti-air and some infantry clearing, and Tankbusters were the most standout to me. Hell most of their units were pretty good, King Onis had decent attack with ranks and could mitigate damage pretty well, Shogun Battleships artillery range were great and being able to siege buildings without losing most of your ground and air army to defenses felt great, Striker-VX were a little confusing at first but switching from Ground anti-air to Air anti-ground was nice to have in your mix. Over-all the Rising Sun was a really good experience. Base building for all three factions were distinct, visually appealing, and had nice exclusive features for each one. Allies, Ore Miners being able to be used as a mobile expansion unit, Russians being able to expand bases with just their buildings felt like it should, and Rising Sun just having mobile structures set up where ever they wanted to was a nice touch. There's so much more I could say about the game-play, it lacked in some areas only because I was used to the old CnC playstyle, but it made up for it in its unique way of handling its own game-play identity. Ill give this one a Great rating.
Honestly, the best CnC game in my opinion, but also the first I played. I originally played it on Xbox 360, at it was good even then.
It has three factions, each with very different play styles. Most units are dual use, so interesting unit combos. Allies focus on air and build like normal. Soviets have best land army, and build things in a "pay as you build" fashion. Rising Sun has "mecha core" units that then deploy, and have the best navy. These on the surface appear similar, but the units in one faction don't really have equivalents in the others most of the time. For example, the Soviets have a super heavy kirov airship, with no equivalent unit even resembling it. The Allies have a "cryocopter" that deals zero damage, but can freeze enemies which can then be killed when any damage is dealt to them. Again, absolutely nothing similar in the others. The Rising Sun has transformer units that switch between modes, like an AA walker that changes into an anti-ground attack helicopter. Again, the others have nothing similar.
The simplified economy does not hinder complexity, like many others say, since worker unit management isn't really the focus at all. Unlike the other CnC games, this one rewards good micro a lot more, since EA thought they could turn this into an e-sport. For example, if you micro the soviet subs right, you can use their super torpedoes that go in a straight line, but can friendly fire. Or, good cryocopter micro will allow you to dismantle any army that doesn't have good AA, by freezing and shrinking the VIP enemy units.
Campaigns are really good, Tim Curry is GOAT. Really not much to say here, they put in the effort to make three rock solid RTS campaigns with good cutscenes and gameplay scenarios. Each faction has a set of missions that initially just serve to introduce the units. Each campaign does "ramp up" pretty quickly and has some pretty good later missions, where you can tackle them however you want.
Also I love the art style. I get it, older players like the older more "realistic" or "less cartoony" look. But, to me, this is way, way better. There is no other RTS that looks or sounds like this. Every unit is immediately clear, and distinct from the background. Also, most units are a kind of stereotype, which is great for a stereotype and casual racism enjoyer, such as myself. The main menu theme is literally just some Russian words like "bear" or "alcohol" and doesn't even mean anything. Very good cultural representation 10/10.
Also, for some weird reason, the best water I have seen in a strategy game, and potentially any game. By far the prettiest, hands down. So if you have a weird thing or kink for water in games, this is the good stuff right here.
The only negative: bad balance. The Allies are OP, the cryocopters are BS, and their bombers are also BS. Some units suck other units are great. But, no one plays this for multiplayer nowadays, so who cares.
Buy it if you like good things or Tim Curry. 9/10

only good with corona mod god i love chinese people
Really Good RTS Game Disappointed in EA from their change from this to A mobile BS .
Very Competitive and fast pacing, perfect for competitive players to train and play for a match. Although the resource gathering mechanic prevent player to mass produce units, a micro may be needed. Also good for nostalgia bait.
