After each successful mission, players gain prestige (money/credits) and experience, to level up and unlock skills like speed boosts, shield upgrades and more. The level ups also allow fleet slots to add ships to a squad. Not only can different ship types be added, but each ship has different weapon and module slots depending on the class. Players can also purchase and add modules that increase shield capacity, buffer a weapon’s overheating rate, and speed up engines.
Features:
- Pilot your flag ship in an awesome top down 2D combat.
- While in combat manage your shields, power, weapons capacitor and more.
- Engage in advanced tactical combat by forming your own fleet and issuing commands to destroy the pirates.
- Gain new active and passive skills and bonuses by climbing through the ranks.
- Equip your ships with a wide variety of modules and guns.
- Engage in a dynamic war powered by a turn based dynamic campaign that doesn't always plays the same.
- Participate in ground defense missions.

Interesting little game, it takes some time to get used to the handling of the ships but the Tower defense part is quite nice. I like the art style and the missions, because they are easy to pick up and complete. So far so good I am a Lieutenant. Mama come see me command ships!
Got this game on sale after playing the dev's other, new game. Played for a few hours, it's quite fun. The game tries to blend many types of game: TBS, tower defense, asteroid-like space combat. Some elements came out better than others but overall it was a fun experience. Didn't get to the end yet but it doesn't look like I'm far off.
I don't usually post reviews but I found this game while browsing the summer sale. I like the concept of the game, takes me back to old school games. I quite enjoyed the few hours of the game. I did have some issues with some tooltips and some UI elements. But overall for anyone that is looking for an old-school adventure, I recommend. Posting this I realize that I am quite old :))
Fun game for a few minutes. But very barebones. Only 4 ship types and one system to defend. Pretty lack luster. it would be a good starting point for a really fun game. Not worth the ten dollar tag. Luckily i got it for 2 bucks on sale haha.
A very simple game with nothing new or interesting. You can find games like this online in flash for free.
2 hours of content isn't really what I expected.
Simply put, this game is extremely shallow with litle variety of content or interesting decisions for the player to make.
Every space battle, every ground battle, where you move around the map, and buying upgrades involves doing the same thing. You will not need to change strategies to adapt to new mechanics or enemies. You will not need to do anything with the tactical map, and you can just buy the stronger version of the curent thing you have. Just keep doing the same thing.
The developer plays with some interesting concepts and mechanics, but sadly really missed the mark on creating a fun game out of this mess of systems.
Fun, if short, little hybrid arcade space-shooter and tower defence without much replay value.
Centauri Sector's main screen is basically a turn-based strategic map, although since the only unit you can move is your own and there's seldom more than one target, there isn't a great deal of strategy beyond "intercept and engage" or "go here and buy stuff". Even shopping isn't especially strategic, all planets sell the full range of goods and there's one very clear dominant strategy for buying gear.
Once you intercept a fleet you're presented with one of 4 mission types depending on the AI control of allied units on the main map: solo intercept, fleet intercept, merchant defence and station defence. The gameplay is mostly similar: kill all the enemies. The variation comes from the defence missions being failed if the merchant or station is killed, which is quite possible if you take your time getting there or fighting.
Combat gameplay is real-time and gives you control of ship rotation and thrust, one turret weapon that tracks the mouse and a spinal mount weapon (or two) on the larger ships. You get to tweak allocation of power between weapons, engines and shields, which gives you a few tactical options, although shields regenerate so slowly that it's mostly impractical - if you boost them enough to start regenerating you'll be moving too slowly to evade fire, and even with max engines you're unlikely to be evading fire reliably enough to regenerate shields by kiting: so in practice your choices are max weapons to kill things fast, and max engines to get to a merchant or station in time to defend it.
That said, the fights are quite a bit of fun, although the AI consists entirely of "charge at target, overshoot and fly back again" for the fighters and "charge at target and attempt to kite" for all other ships, no attempts to evade or rotate shields (not even sure AI units have directional shields, there's no feedback in that regard). Mostly it boils down to whether you can overwhelm them with firepower before your shields give out or you run out of capacitor to keep your weapons firing. Fun enough but not too challenging.
Types of opponents gradually escalate and you unlock larger ships as you complete missions and advance in rank.
At four points as you gain rank a special mission will appear on one of the planets that drops you into four fixed tower-defence levels. These make for a nice change of pace, but since they're fixed layout and there's no bonuses for doing exceptionally well - just succeed or fail - there's no replay value once you've figured it out. They're quite fun, and I almost feel there's more depth and variety in this aspect of the game than the space combat, which is kinda odd because you only get to play the TD section those 4 times.
Overall the game is fun, but you're likely to complete it within two hours and even with slightly careless achievement hunting I've done everything the game has to offer in under five hours; and while I enjoyed that time, I now feel no great urge to ever play it again.
Why the hell is this game not tagged casual? Way too easy. For it to be a Tactical RPG it lacks tactics and also the RPG, It's basically a wannabe RPG that's actually an extremely boring Asteroids clone. Except you don't need to dodge enemy ships.
Game content: 4 Different ships and basically 2 different guns with varying stats. The TD labeled "Ground Combat" is very much like those minigames in Assassins Creed. Too easy, annoyingly drawn out and taking too much from the programming budget from the core game. Well, the hollow, rotten core game.
Oh and there's bugs. Wouldn't expect gameplay breaking bugs in a game without gameplay? Think again.
Quite an enjoyable game, but I think one which most veterans will find relatively easy and with little replay value. I spent a couple of hours beating this game, and while I may return for a couple of forays I don't anticipate significant replay value. There are no difficulty levels and I didn't find the game difficult on the default setting. The space portions are well thought out and fun, the tower defense portions are like a poorly thought out TD flash game. I encountered and reported a few bugs during my run through, but both were fairly critical: graphics representing enemies and allies not appearing on the map for the duration of a mission. I would recommend this game when it's on sale. The experience is definitely worth some dollars, but probably not ten.
Hi, this is actually a pretty cool and addictive game. :)
It has elements of patrol duty, ship combat, squadron control tactics, and even ground-based Tower Defence modes too.
I managed to reach Day 63 on my 1st attempt, and am still in the process of upgrading my Weapons and ship Modules.
I recommend the game.
