For collectors only. Otherwise, the game is truly janky and the vehicle constantly gets stuck in the terrain. The camera gets wonky with trees blocking your viewpoint. Its almost as if the game engine is not for a driving sim.
There is a plethora of vehicles and the historical aspects of this title shine. It is a Rally fans dream. Career mode and Sebastien Loeb mode have lots to do.
I really feel that the faster the game gets, when entering better races with faster cars, the game falls apart.

Ignore negative reviews, it's a great game.
I bought this game for the steering wheel support, after opening it the steering wheel doesn't work (not a good start), then after I closing and reopening the game I found out the laucher doesn't save your preferences (so every time you open the game you have to change the same things) and the down arrow is not working, how can you do such a bad game? Now I'm trying to see if I can make the steering wheel work

Definitely worth the current black Friday sale price, lots of cars and tracks, decent enough handling and track notes, plus several rallycross circuits thrown in (that don't limit you to just a couple of cars). Excellent value.
Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo offers a complete and varied experience, sponsored by the french legend. Lots of championships and events that show that a rally simulator can be very diverse. Easy to play but very punishing at times and with a graphical "furnish" far from other genre peers that make some impact in the final experience.

not a single keybind is working what a waste of time and storage i couldnt even press esc button to see my menu
Manual with clutch doesn't work. Games fine other than that.
Shame really as its a fun game, but how it can run so poorly on recommended hardware, I don't understand. The engine sounds are awful too. So I would recommend getting it on sale, if at all.
If you want this game to work flawlessly, set the game's core affinity to only performance cores (for Intel CPUs) and always play in windowed mode. The game also uses FSAA so if you set the anti-aliasing to x8 it'll use a lot more resources than just FXAA or TAA.
The career can get annoyingly difficult with the timed cone challenges, but other than that this game is an underrated gem that has that 90's era rally feel to it. I have a soft spot for this game.
This is my favorite rally game, among several I have tried. The only drawback I can think of is that there is no steering sensitivity adjustment and getting used to the steering response can take a while.

UPDATE 2; Sometimes with some cars the game just spazzes out and doesn't let you turn a corner and then it will basically somehow Aqua-plain you on gravel/tarmac when i have abs enabled, It just happened to me then, You will lose complete control of the car even if you speed down to 1mph almost stationary, the car will still move forward aquaplaining, even when I brought it to a complete stop, for about 4 whole seconds i lost complete control of the car/steering and it was just moving forward like it was on a conveyor belt or some ishht, going at about 2mph, I don't think so, it was the fakest bs i ever saw.
This game is a 4/10 or 5/10 at best at times and is dumb/fake at times.
UPDATE 1; I can't stress enough just how bad the co driver call outs are; and after a few days i'm actually getting fed up of it now, he is absolutely NO help at all. I'm now NOT enjoying this game as much as I did at first because of it.
THE CO-DRIVER CALLOUTS ARE USELESS!!!!
It's actually a good game, not much different from the Dirt Rally games imo, once you get used to it.
I haven't stopped playing since I bought it A few days ago on steam sale for 2 bucks lol
Pikes Peak is awesome, so much fun. 9:39 is my best time so far (pp long)
It's also a bit easier and more forgiving than the Dirt Rally games I found, I can actually finish tracks without getting totally wrecked 9 out of 10 times, this game also has a rewind option during race which is handy, but its not infinite rewinds, 10 seconds max i think, then you can't rewind anymore.
Overall it's fun to play if you like rally games and it's also a good first rally game to start off with if you're just getting into rally games for the first time, as it's quite forgiving etc etc, as I mentioned,
There is also no real difference between the Dirt Rally games and this that I can see so far, so I'm happy to buy/save on this game instead of Dirt 2 which I was going to buy,
Basically If you like Dirt rally games, you will like this game, It's certainly easier, but still fun/good overall. 6/10 stars.
** CONS: The co driver call outs are next to useless at times and sometimes he hits out with 3 or 4 instructions rapid fast and confuses me to the point which I crash, that's the worst part about this game for me I've found, the co driver sucks.
For example; earlier in a race I played, he said "6-left, tightens" but it was actually more like. "6-left, tightens into hairpin left" ... so i obviously crashed and drove off edge lawl.
the graphics are way worse than it looks in the screen shots ... handling is not bad but not good ... stuttering and no way to change the graphics settings apart from gamma ... so the game stutters doesn't look good and doesn't handle too good ... the videos for this game looks good but playing the game looks quite bad ... this bad review is for my own notes so i don't buy it again if i forget how bad the game is
The game is litteraly trash, when you launch it, it just doesnt let you use the up arrow, and when you connect a wheel and try to control the car, it wont even budge, its just pressing accelerate in n gear, and the tutorial is even only ''forward'' and ''backwards'' as its first steps, it has some potential, but it was thrown away, hopefully it gets fixed, also the game is hard to understand, i litteraly had to ask myself a MILLION TIMES is it a dlc or a game, cause i was scared of losing my game, i HOPE that the creator will make it more understandable :D

So i bought this game thinking, Wow this game looks good, i bought it and it does look good BUT, Steering wheel support almost doesnt exist, i tried to make it work on my t128, i did manage to do it but the gas and brakes are literally tweaking, also you have to grind the game you cant just pick a car and drive, i would rate this 4/10, FIX THE STEERING SUPPORT

Hidden gem, while it looks a bit dated its easily one of the most realistic rally games out there. The physics are brilliant and the cars move and react in such a way thats more believable and authetinc than many. The stage design is also tough with many unforgiving cambers, ruts, drops and crests that are one small mistake away from ruuning your day. Speaking if which the damage model is startling at first, its like being in BeamNG all over again which is no bad thing.
Only gripe i have is it's rather frustrating to play on controller. I had to tweak steams anti-deadzone setting to stop the car from wandering and swaying but even then its hard to be precise as the steering still feels temperamental. On the wheeel though different story. Really good FFB.
Great rally game, it is my go-to sim as of 2024.
I liked Dirt Rally 2.0 and WRC Generations, played RBR back in the days but never got into it again, even with mods. I do not like EA Sports WRC due to several reasons, but mostly because of their unneccessary kernel level anti cheat.
So, I read on several occasions that SLRE is a true gem and pretty underrated and gave it a try. Apart from setting up the wheel and pedals (Logitech G923 on my end), which is a bit of a hassle with all this mixfile remixer stuff, I can really relate to those opinions:
While I've never driven a rally car in real life, it feels plausible for me and is on par with the other sims physics wise. What I really like is that the cars behaviour is consistent in my opinion. I haven't encountered a situation that felt weird or unexpected, it's really fun to drive and easy to get a feeling for the cars behaviour. My recommendation: give it a try, even eight years after release.

Wow, what a sleeper game. To sum it up, if you are bored of or simply dislike DR2.0 and EA WRC, yet don't want to play RBR, then this is the perfect compromise. It has a full career and even its own "Colin McRae" challenge-type mode except for Loeb instead. It has Group S and some other cars not in the other games, nice rally stages, Pikes Peak, RX, and most importantly: the physics are great! I actually want to drive on asphalt in this game unlike in Codemasters games. There's an actual feeling of grip so it can feel really smooth taking turns in a 90s kit car.
As for cons: graphics are 2010-level, but at least they don't give me eye cancer like EA WRC. (English) pace notes aren't very good. Default engine noises are apparently bad, but easily fixed with the Leza sound mod, which makes them adequate.
Easily worth $3 for the complete edition on sale.
