The game is made so shit as possible literally hard to get anything working and if you get the game working you can play for 5 minutes and the game gets slowed and drops to 10 fps and bricks your wheel if it has ffb
its a pure waste of money i'd recommed getting dirt rally 2.0 it isn't the best but that actually even works as it should

It doesn't take long to realise why people don't like this game. If your car touches anything that *isn't* the road you are driving on, you will come to a an almost complete HALT. You are so slow on anything other than the main road, which sucks in a rally game because you're bound to get off the road every now and then with all the turns and drifts you will take, especially the harder turns. Outside of the handling issues, the co-drivers suck. There are only 2 options, and that's male and female voices. Neither are good. Not only are they both extremely robotic, but the spoken call outs are not detailed enough. They don't tell you what speed to go for a specific call or if it narrows or widens, it is only stuff like "left short, 5", which may not sound like an issue until you play more advanced rally games like anything after this one.
Outside of the gameplay issues, the game does look decent for 2015, but that's about the nicest thing I can say about that. The performance isn't great, and this issue is borrowed from WRC 4 and proceeds to WRC 6. I'm not sure if it's some driver, gpu or cpu related issue, but the games run poorly with hitches and stutters, which severely hinder the races.
On the content side of things, there are plenty of races, but you can just play better versions of these tracks in WRC 6 and 7 since they're just ported to those games, not even as DLC. Speaking of which, the WRC games have a common theme of containing the most useless DLC known to man. This game is no exception. The DLC includes a car... and get this, another car... what, are you not excited? Yeah, that was my reaction. Do not buy the DLC for any of these games.
TLDR; Play any other KT Racing WRC game. 7 is the best.

[td]I didn’t really like the visuals in this game that much. For positives, I will say that I love the UI interface. It’s simple, clean, and minimalistic. Also the rally cars look pretty decent. Besides that, those are the only positives I can say visually. The stages don’t look that good. They look rough, boring, and kinda messy. The trees look pretty bad also.[/td]

[td]WRC 5’s gameplay is simple, and straightforward. You have a few gamemodes like quickplay, campaign, and Rally School mode. The Rally School mode is pretty helpful if you are new to Rally games. The physics are actually not that bad. It’s fun, a little slidy in wet conditions, and the tarmac feels amazing. It’s pretty arcadey, so don’t expect it to be too difficult. WRC 5 takes place during the 2015 WRC Championship. So all of the cars, liveries, and drivers will be accurate to that year. This is my favorite feature in these WRC titles. Playing with the real cars and liveries in the years these games were made just felt so fun. The stages are all in during that season as well. Ranging from Monaco, Spain, France, and all the way to Wales. You have many locations to explore and go flat out in. The big issue is the amount of content in these locations. You mainly get around 5 rally stages per location. This sucks because you will get alot of repeated stages, especially during the campaign mode. Also most of the stages are super short, averaging around 5 km long. AI is also a huge letdown! A reviewer said it better than I ever could, so here’s a quote “Opponent stage times are not simulated in the background, but instead determined after the fact to be just barely slower than the player's, usually in the region of 0.1 to 1.2 seconds and never over 2 seconds. In practice, this means that it is impossible to lose a stage unless you get a time penalty... but if you do, it is impossible to win no matter how well you drive, because your projected win margin of 1 second is not enough to accommodate a time penalty of 5 or 10 seconds". This is so true, and it kinda ruins the game in my opinion. No matter how fast you drive, you will never truly gap the AI. Also if you make a mistake, you are gonna lose the overall rally. It’s so dumb, and feels so artificial and not rewarding. This is what ruined the game for me. WRC 4 had much better AI and actually was fun playing on harder difficulties. This game completely ruins that. Also the damage model is a mixed bag. Not sure if it’s realistic or not, but brakes and tires get destroyed after like 2 short rallies. Also the tuning system is not good. It’s way too simple and gives literally no info on what each tune does. It’s not a problems for me, but for others that don’t know tuning, this is an issue that feels like an afterthought.[/td]

[td]The campaign is super linear and not interesting. You start as a Junior WRC, and you go up the ranks till you reach the WRC cars. No team management or promo races. Just kinda bland and not fun to go through. Maybe I got spoiled with the later WRC games, but this campaign felt more like a waste of time. Unless you like this campaign structure, then you won’t have any issues. It’s not horrible, just boring to me.[/td]

[td]Playtime can depend on how you play it. It can take you around 14+ hours to beat the campaign, if you go through all WRC categories. If you love the game overall and enjoy the 2015 season, then quick play might add some more fun for you.[/td]

[td]Sound design is actually solid. Hearing the rock hitting the bottom of the car as you go flat out felt pretty immersive. Also the car doesn't sound that bad. The soundtrack is also okay, but I just turn it off in these games anyway.[/td]

[td]There are a few bugs, mainly with the co-driver. Now it’s not common, pretty rare actually, but sometimes the co driver will bug out and not say the pace notes. And some other bugs like some minor visual glitches.[/td]

[td]WRC 5 biggest issue is AI. To me, it totally ruined the experience. The way they design the AI is a complete joke. Besides that, the game is okay. Just a mediocre rally experience that didn’t really please my rally needs or impressed me. I enjoyed going through the 2015 season, and maybe you will too if you can overlook the issues. I’d only recommend it to people that want to experience the 2015 rally season. Overall, it’s a skip for me.[/td]

Not sure if I'm only just noticing this or if this has always been a thing, but cutting off-pavement at junctions gives a jolting, "magnet" type slowdown that kills any immersion that you may have accidentally built up throughout the stage.
Who decided to penalize cutting (within reason, like maybe a meter or so from outside tires to trail/road) in a RALLY game???
The dynamics of being an arcade race game are very present here despite the technical parts is really fun to see and drive all cars, good and DON'T CUT

WRC 5 is good game, and first WRC game to complete with 100% achievements, why because WRC 4 does not support Multiplayer, why. WRC 6 dose that too, why?! It is possible to achieve achievements in WRC 5 and latest, becouse you can buy copy for your friend or family member who has steam account, and outplay these fiew achivments with that person. For other reasons multiplayer in WRC games is dead, nobody plays multi in this sport.
Game is from 2015 and graphicly is ok, however car physics are arcade all the way. And roads are boring in comperason with WRC 7.

This game is a piece of shit and it's probably the worst WRC game in existence. Somehow they made it worse than WRC4 and that one was not good at all. It has some ground-breaking issues that I promise you won't be able to get over, no matter how hard you try.
- The worst issue out of all is the fact that as long as you're driving somewhat acceptable you'll finish in first place, while second will be few milliseconds behind you, basically making you always win the fucking race. This fact makes this game absolutely unplayable and without any sense of competition since you're basically always finishing first or second if you really try for the second place.
- Second worst issue is the fact that all vehicles drive like absolute units, everything feels sluggish and cars take forever to make a decent turn, the controls are extremely tanky and unresponsive.
- Third issue is the lack of semi-automatic gearbox in the game, why they left that out when it's in WRC 4 and all other games after WRC 5 is absolutely beyond me. For myself who likes the idea of being able to change the fucking gears on your own from time to time this is such an enormous let down.
Only positive that I can mention are the car visuals and that is it, everything else is beyond bad. I already rated WRC 4 as not recommended, but after playing this, that game is golden.

uh. its ok. not as good as future entries by KT, but definitely serviceable as a rally game, even if its not too great. still worth it on sale tho in my opinion
Overall the game is fun, things to remember is that it is a slightly older game. The headlights suck, very limited range and brightness. Fog and night stages are a bit tougher because of that but not impossible by any means. The feel of the car kinda blows also. It is hard to get any sense of the weight of the cars, doesn't matter if its 2WD or AWD or HP, they all feel like there isn't much there. Those are really the only two complaints.

Great rally game. The physics, engine sounds, scenery, level of detail all hold up very nicely almost a decade later.
A great game for its time.
This is a very fun rally game. This is the first official rally game I have ever played, and it was really hard at first, but after a couple of hours, I got the hang of it. I can see why this takes lots of practice, though (real life and in-game/sim), but it was fun while I played it, especially on the sim. There are many different drivers and cars to pick from, which adds a more customizable driving experience.
WRC is always going to a fun game. it's a must have game big fan of WRC
WRC 5 is a new beginning for the series, and when viewed in that light, Kylotonn’s efforts come out quite well. There’s several issues, both big and small that detract from the game as a whole, but underneath it all there’s a rallying game that’s just a good bit of fun. When it’s just you and your co-pilot racing through a forest, barely making it through a series of tight twists and turns, that’s really what matter.
