Will not run on my computer using windows 11, is there an update
One of the worst, most uninspired games I've ever played. Fails hard on nearly every aspect.
First of all, how difficult is it really to get the audio mixing right? You can't even hear what the characters are saying because the sound effects are so obnoxiously loud. And you can't even adjust it in the settings because there isn't a separate slider for voices.
Oh, yes, and the game also arrogantly sets itself to your system language and you can't reset it in the Steam properties. Good start.
As for the game itself... the graphics are okay, I guess, but pretty lackluster compared to the beautiful graphics of other HOGs. The story is subpar even for a HOG, with terribly written dialogue and the most emotionless child-actively-running-from-a-murderous-ghost you could possibly imagine.
But the gameplay is where the game really flops. Have fun trying to click the same object 10 times in HOG scenes until you finally find the exact right pixel. Have fun clicking all across the land trying to find the scene you're looking for because there's no map and everything looks basically the same. Don't expect the hint button to lead you to the right scene, either, because all it does is flash a half-assed text hint for a few seconds that, in the worst scenarios, doesn't even make sense. If you're lucky, maybe you'll even get a hint that, say, tells you to use a shovel when you don't have a shovel, and then you have to aimlessly wander this hellscape looking for a shovel because the game refuses to give a proper hint.
Then there are the puzzles... literally the most uninspired garbage I've ever seen from a HOG. Hope you like jigsaw puzzles, rotating disks to create an image, and locating fragments of a picture cut up into a grid, because literally all puzzles are one of these. And the implementation doesn't even make sense. Find pieces for some sort of round disk-like thing, and then it's a jigsaw puzzle instead of a rotating disk puzzle...?
Also... whenever you rotate disks, input codes, or move certain objects, the game plays a very annoying sound that irritated me so much I would just take my headphones off during those puzzles.
Overall... impressive that this game has a 47% positive review score.
