Better Game And Better Exprience
A very harsh, unforgiving/punishing & grindy 2D survival sidescroller with a clumsy combat system. 7/10. Its grim art and nefarious mood can't beat how little of the world & gameplay is in here... only recommending if you can put up with its shortcomings.

The game is a bit rough and punishing at times with the way enemies stand to easily outscale your rate of progression and lack of clarity as to where to find certain items. This however means you have to come up with a more tactical approach to situations even when you are fully geared up to the max, as you always have the option of running and healing. Despite this fustration, which was because I was not heeding it, made for an interesting but not imposible challange.
Once you understand the game actually rather simple systems the game is quite fun!
For a while, when I needed to reduce my stress, this game was my go to. Do not look for meticulously crafted, fascinatingly complex systems. This game is simple. Familiar. Enough creepy, enough interesting. It has limited content and it makes itself known earlier than I prefer. But it has the potential to be a safe place for some.

Why are all viking games so grindy!?!?
the first half of my playthrough was quite entertaining, what with learning the mechanics, and building up my base and resources. i was getting gear, amassing a decent store of materials, and diverting my efforts towards progression.
it is here, i would like to mention, that this game seems to be quite biased towards coop play.
the forces that work against you grow more powerful the longer you play the game. regular attacks fall upon your base, and the attacks grow in danger *quickly*. doing a solo playthrough, i could not muster the resources to outpace the difficulty. my progress slowed to a near halt, using resources to obtain more resources with barely a net gain.
then i saw the endgame. i needed to get 22 drops from boss fights, enemies who not only required extensive preparation and foresight to kill, but also respawn after each death with more inflated stats. the drops aren't even guranteed.
this game is incredibly slow to make progress in. i can imagine it is much more manageable with more players, but as it stands i have no one.
Its quite good.
Game has very nice artwork and a fun concept, but requires too much grinding to even stay at the same level without losing progress. It's possible to get completely stuck due to resources being finite and the incredibly high rate at which armor, weapons and tools wear out.
Examples:
- a full set of iron armor will break after fighting only a handful of wolves. But crafting a new set of iron armor requires... several wolf hides!!! There is hardly any net gain.
- Boss fights will deplete your armor and shield 100% so bring a fresh set for each. However you can only make so many iron armor sets before the amount of iron in your mine runs out. And guess what, the only way to get more iron? Defeat the boss in your mine...

This game is loads of fun. It is somewhat slow to start and is probably best played as a group. I would really like it if the inside of your base changed in appearance as you upgrade your base. The fact that your base can get looted every seven in game days is an annoyance but isn't the end of the world. I would love if there were more story based quests that move your player forward. Overall I really do like this game I just think that with a little tinkering this game could be amazing!
