:o! This is pretty good for a rather cheap game. ^-^
It doesn't make you motion sick whilst you try to rotate your camera/search for stuff and it has humor to it as well! The hero's mustache is so skinny and long... It looks all wrong...! But that's how it's designed.
So if you played Cats in Time or Hidden Paws... This is rather similar. It DOES have a cat... Pretty sure it's the same black one though.
Right well... You go from floating scenery to floating scenery and do quests. The people are rude and have crazy tasks for ya. That's normal.
There are also parts where you can catapult stuff... Those are fun...
Of course not everything is great.
- The cannon may get stuck and that's the ONLY trajectory you can fire it at. Especially during the "Pandas destroy the Great Wall".
- Items are sometimes (very rarely) so small or so damn hidden you can't freaking find them without a hint. Snow level. *cough*
- Some mini-games are a beep to play. Looking at you "copy my dance moves". Ancient temple/the "two robots/space" levels.
I hadn't run into any other weird problems, so I call it good!
Overall it's a nice distraction and humor, despite being ridiculous... Which is the point... Is actually not bad at all!
Bur really... Let's face it... IF I were to dye my cat? I would be the one dyed... In a very delightful shade of dark crimson.
Woo... Hoo...?!
Thank yous!! :3 =) :>
This game is a really fun game. Its humorous and is fine for all ages as far as I can tell.
Elementary My Dear Majesty! is a mobile app-like low poly family friendly point-and-click adventure game with numerous simple hidden object and physics puzzles and minigames. There's a somewhat nonsensical fairy-tale themed story with a lot of iPhone screen tapping to step along through the simple storyline. Collect enough fruit for this, collect enough cogs for that, play a crane minigame to put this over there, that kind of thing. Shallow, not all that interesting for a PC game, but it might have done well if the developers launched this on mobile app stores instead of Steam, which isn't for mobile apps.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).
Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Elementary My Dear Majesty!" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Elementary My Dear Majesty! is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.
I won't give this a bad rating, but it is not for me. I played a couple of hours and it just annoyed the crap out of me trying to find stuff.
The story line at the beginning is ok, but then it drags on. Some people will probably enjoy it, but I am uninstalling.
Nice hidden objects game. Played on linux through proton.

The world is in danger because the king's daughter has turned into a man-eating monster. It is now a hero's job to find a cure and save the world. To do this, the players slip into the role of a detective named Felix, have to make their way through 14 different locations and solve around 100 puzzles. On the way you meet knights, dragons and witches, rocking penguins and sheep that have to be catapulted onto neighboring islands. Fazit
Elementary My Dear Majesty! bietet dir eine interessante Handlung mit einigen Rätseln, Wimmelbildern und überraschenden Wendungen. Ich würde es aber nicht für den vollen Preis kaufen und auf ein Sale warten.
I like the idea of funny fairy tale about a kingdom, brave hero and princess. The simplifed art style graphics of the places is great form for presenting the story and solving the tasks. I am usually positive about games and there is a lot of inovative and original things here in the game. So where is the problem. Other negative reviews have similar objections as me and they are sometimes in positive reviews too. 3D model is great but brings only few benefits and many frustrations. There are two position of rotation of the whole place. It helps sometimes to find item hidden behind other object. It is original but the operating is not comfort. Objects and items are smaller because there are more parts in one place. There is possibility to zoom in but then the screen folows the pointer in unpleasant way. My eyes hurt and I was not sure why. And when playing minigame in the window after zoom the part behind is still following the pointer. There is usually one object in HO that is hidden so much that you cannot see it even with rotation. 3D model is not so good even in magnet or cannon minigames. The music is repetitive and I was bored after while. The game seems to be focused on chidren but without voice acting? But Some of the jokes are maybe for adults. Necessity to click the text after reading was anonying. It is not necessary to read everything and skip even minigamnes, but story is usually importatnt in HOG. Or it is a set of HO holding together with some glue.
My recomentation is not so bad but NO. 3D approach with a little uncomfort operating, sometimes funny, nice graphics. I admire the creators. But generally somehow unused potential. Or maybe not so balanced game.
Maybe YES for children or people looking for originality, the price is cheap.
This is an enjoyable hidden object game that is a bit different than the standard. The sense of humor is good at times.
Well...parts of this game are enjoyable, although some of the minigame puzzles can be annoying and unintuitive (see the numerous "pick which order to click these in" minigames that don't actually give you a hint on what order to use, so you just have to use trial-and-error). Also, while some of the hidden objects are, well, properly hidden, there's quite a few, typically at least one per scene, that are just not visible even with the limited rotation mechanic, and which can only be found by either using a hint, or getting lucky in mousing over the right area.
But good god, the racist caricatures. The "natives" are basically ripped out of some Looney Tunes shtick from the 1940s, and attempting to complete that segment was kind of agonizing. The "China" segment is full of ninjas and samurai, which, uh...aren't Chinese.
If you really like hidden object games, you...might like this one? The aesthetic seems tailored for the pre-teen demographic, though. But personally, I can't recommend this one.
This is a very cute 3D hidden object and puzzle game! Not very difficult to find objects (though some are placed cleverly to blend with the environment!) and solve the puzzles, but each chapter gets rated from 1 to 3 on how quickly you finished it and on use of hints. It's a casual game though so it's quite relaxing to play the game. This game can be played by anyone of any age. Some reviewers think this is just for children. It can be, but it needs adult supervision as some of the puzzles aren't explained very well, but can be figured out pretty quickly what to do with the help of an adult. I wish there are more HOGs like this!
Different game then the other HOS i have played but it's quite fun. Nice concept, nice music and quite easy.
I was enjoying the game, despite its flaws, until it came to the North Pole level and smacked me in the face with sudden anti-Native racism. My thoughts:
"Okay, this character is definitely a member of one of the northern native tribes, and he's an 'Eskimo.'"
"Aaaaand he's speaking in broken English, unlike every other character so far."
"AND HE'S DUMB ENOUGH TO SIT STILL AND LET SNOW BURY HIM????"
No recommendation, refund requested.
This is a 3d HOG. And not true 3d either. You can adjust how you look at a scene 3 ways. I beat this game but honestly thinking back I didn't really like it. I'm going to give a positive review but I'm warning you it might not be your cup of tea.
unable to see the objects that you are searching for until you use a hint. not much fun when the designers are "cheating" very frustrating at both levels.
I got stuck for ages at the level with the cage because the hint was telling me it was in the wagon. It's not. I found the controls clunky and difficult to use. The story was great. I was looking forward to seeing how we manage to rescue the princess and it's funny... but when you don't realise some of the objects are hidden *behind* things so if you don't mouse over the area you'll never know it gets frustrating. The hint is a horizontal beam of light rather than the traditional hidden object sparkling around the area. If you don't click right on the object (and some of them are really thin) then you have to keep clicking until you get it exactly right. I also didn't realise that you needed to turn the map in some areas to see the other side.
So, I'd say save your money and bang your head on the desk instead. 2/5 for playability 4/5 for storyline. I will probably continue but I'll save it for smaller chunks of time where I hope I will find it more relaxing and less rage inducing.
I wanted to like this because it was definitely a different sort of experience. The storyline was sort of cute, though bizarre. The HOG scenes were either really easy, challenging, or nigh on impossible. Some things simply were not visible, no matter how I adjusted the view and zoomed in. The puzzles were a mix of too easy, perfect, and... well, pointless. I'm not big on randomly clicking to determine the correct order for multiple games. Overall, the frustration factor tips the scale on the downside for me. It is aggravating to be forced to use a hint for a HOG scene, then STILL not be able to see the item with a beam of light shining on it. Plus, after looking at two of the sets of directions for mini-games, I was unable to close them and acutally play. The only thing that worked was using the skip button, which meant I couldn't play them and got stuck with silver trophies. While I think the idea of a 3D HOG is cool, and the bright colors were a welcome change, there are way too many issues that make it seem like the items were just sort of thrown in there. *My hours are so high because I left the game running while running an errand. About two-three hours would be more accurate.
Elementary My Dear Majesty is a pleasant enough game. It's simplistic, the graphics are pleasant and colourful, although dated, and it has enough depth to keep you clicking for a while. It isn't a hidden object game in the normal adventure format, although you do have to find hidden items, so don't expect that. The style is quaint and sometimes amusing. The plot has you on the hunt for a princess who's been taken by aliens, on which journey you'll pass through a number of themed worlds completing tasks.
There are some glitches. The view controls are counter-inuituve. I lost count of how many times I moved the wrong way as the controls seem reversed to me. There is also a consistent problem with the totals of items you need to find. At least one item had the wrong count in almost every scene. It manifests itself as the counter not decrementing when you find certain objects.
Grab it on sale if you need something simple to while away a few hours or for the kids to play. For under a quid, you can't go wrong. 6/10.
Sweet and Family-Friendly
This casual, hidden-object, point-and-click puzzler is a good choice as an alternative to the 2D hidden object games out there. It's all in 3D modeling, with everything modeled in the same cartoonish fashion so there are no jarring discrepanices. There are a variety of small puzzles and mini-games. The colors are bright and crisp, making the graphics a stand-out. The only drawbacks so far have been an occasional missing menu graphic causing you to wonder what you may have just pushed, and the ever so slightly clunky controls. The plusses outweigh the minuses by far.
