With it being only a matter of time before the Choazids start converting your people, it's up to you to take the controls of one of the few remaining Tiamat dragonship prototypes: the X class fighter, a craft capable of immense firepower - provided you pick up enough upgrade caches during a mission where you must dodge and blast like there's no tomorrow.
Featuring six levels of intense shooting action, Tiamat X is a rip-snortin tribute to the side-scrolling shooters of yesteryear, and would be right at home blazing away on the screen of a booming, beer-stained arcade cabinet. As such, your PC will have to do, and it is much to the designer's regret that he can't plumb a coin-slot into his rig for that truly authentic seaside amusement-park experience.
Get some big speakers, though. Really, we do recommend them for this game.
Key features include:
- Auto fire - this is primarily intended as an accessibility option and allows the player to not have to worry about using a fire button.
- Quick fire - don't like mashing buttons/keys, then this is for you. Press and hold to fire.
- Color blind filter - this filter adjusts the game thereby making it more colour blind friendly. We just hope we have got it right!
- Six levels of intense shooting action.
- Original music score.
- Steam Achievements.
- Steam Leaderboards.
- Steam Trading Cards - featuring artwork designed exclusively for these cards!.

An ugly and poor running shoot 'Em Up that's only marginally better than a Digital Homicide production. There's free stuff on the Xbox 360 that is more fun. Don't buy this.
Too many unseeable/unexpected things happening on the screen, and you can die just by touching anything.
Also, you can shoot down the bonuses accidentally? Come on! That's just pure evil!
how do i give a game an aggressive sigh instead of a thumbs up or thumbs down? that pretty much describes it
Another bad shoot-em-up from Steam Greenlight (remember that one?), and it runs like 20 frames per second, was it really that necessary?
Good (:
Tiamat X is of the type of game I really do like. In my opinion under-rated and a real challenge to complete. Doesn't wow graphically but I think the gameplay is very good and I would definiitely recommend to anyone wanting a challenging side scrolling space shooter with some similarity to Space Tripper.
They forgat to put save game and diffirent weopans .You have to start from first level each time.If they pay money to play this game.Say no :D
First of all, to the developers: my hat's off to you for fulfilling your vision of creating a game to the best of your abilities. That said, I'm not very fond of this game as it stands. I played it a number of times upon purchase and just couldn't get into it. So I took some time away from it, cleansed my palette, then replayed it. Time didn't do much to change my opinion. I was expecting a shmup (which, technically, it is), but it didn't feel like there was much to it, gameplay-wise. Limited game options, as well as limited power-ups for your ship, left a bad taste in my mouth. As a positive, I will say that I liked the theme music for the first level; it plays like you're being set up to take part in an operatic space battle for the ages. Unfortunately, the rest of the game fails to live up to the hype. All in all, I'm not sorry that I bought the game. I'm just sorry that I couldn't buy into it.
+ Positives
Nice Backgrounds
- Negatives
Hard to see bullets
Enemies appearing from behind with no warning
No choice of weapons. Pick up weapons in set places
Game feels flat
Have to restart from Level 1 when your lives run out
No continues
=
Average game at best. It is a good price but just lacking excitement.
It's... meh. I don't know... I mean it's okay, kinda, but just not good.
Why all the hate? I thought it was a decent shmup, altho lower resolutions, still looked pretty good to me, a decent challenge and variety. It is a simple shmup, but for $2 regular price its decent. I got it for 75% off and judging from the reviews, was going to skip this one. But honestly its not bad, runs smoothly on my rig, have a hard time thinking this could be hard on any modern rig in the last 10 years. There are graphical settings, but no resolution settings, which I do find odd, but not as pixelated as half the shmups on STEAM tho.
one of the worst shoot'em up games i have ever played.
- Bland stages and enemies.
- Power-ups are in a fixed places in stages.
- Terrible hit box.
- little variety in enemies.
- runs badly (20 fps or something).
- no resultion or any graphics options besides full screen or windowed.
- some of the bullets/rockets blend in the background that they are hard to see.
- no continues.
Stay away from this game even if you got it for free, its just a waste of time.
Nope
- The level design is very dummy and not creative at all compared with similiar games;
- The sound effects are annoying and not cool to listen (explosions specially)
- Music it totally forgetable;
Also
No options to adjust sound, music and overall volume.
No options to change resolution
Great feature for autofire and quick fire options. However, this game is dated. I may have played a similar game on Windows 95/98. Controls aren't as tight as some side scrollers. Power ups aren't random. They appear magically on the same spot of each screen. Spreader weapon is achieved about 30 seconds in the game. You don't lose the spreader upon death, which is nice. Lack of speed control is a nuisance. You can miss a target just by advancing in the screen too fast?? Ugh! That would be okay if you didn't die by being in proximity of an enemy and not an actual collision! I'm sure I'll play it again, just because it has native controller support. But find it hard to replay back to back since the patterns are the same. So many other better Shumps out there. Luckily I picked up on sale for $1.49. Is it worth $1.49, probably not until I advance further.
Good graphics but very repetitive gameplay.
Nnnngh.... Its hard as baaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwlllllllls....
There's no continues or saves of any kind, so if you lose all three of your lives (there is a fourth you can grab in the first stage) then it is completely game over and you're back to square one. *headdesk* So don't get hit EVER, basically?
Though my biggest actual complaint is that the hitbox on your ship seems ahh... bigger than it should be. I've been exploded a few times now by shots that I'd have sworn I was out of the way/range of.
Seems okay otherwise... just generic space shooter #3021 or something. XD Not necessarily bad just... well, go back to the start of the review and read that first line again. There you go.
I admire little dev teams making games, but I got to say this one needs more addictive features and difficulty leveling (Besides another design features).
It is beautiful graphically speaking and it is a very cheap game,
But it is very hard, the music was a bad choice (Maybe for a point and click would fit) and needs more rewards for the player.
Keep it up, you have potential to make something stronger.
After voting for this on Greenlight, I broke a $2 bill to buy it. ;) I really don't know what so many people are complaining about. It's a fun arcade space shooter. The graphics are nice and crisp, the controls are simple. Though, I do recommend using a controller. There's not much to the game, but then you really don't expect there to be a lot to it due to the type of game. The download is really small, something like a little over 100 MB for Windows and 43 MB for Linux. It runs great on my piece of crap laptop with the 1 GHz dual core, 3GB RAM and some crappy AMD APU running Peppermint Linux. So, you don't need a lot of computer to run it. And, what's more is that it's two freaking dollars. (less if you get it on sale) Buy it, play it and enjoy it.
No wonder it was so cheap, its as bad as a game you would get for free in a box of cereals.
TL;DR: Meh. 4/10
+ Colorblind filter (I'm not colorblind but I appreciate it when dev's add this options)
+/- Mediocre graphics
+/- The "intense shooting action" is actually rather boring
- Lack of options
- Bad sound effects & boring music
Reminds me of Gate of Thunder for those of us who go back to the Turbo Duo days some 20+ years ago. Too bad the soundtrack didn't follow it here to Tiamat X.
