On A Roll 3D
Roll your way through 24 huge levels across six different themes in this fast, colourful 3D platform game.
Be prepared to take on spikes, mines, dynamite, conveyor belts, springs, switches, doors, bumpers, lasers, saws, fire, ice, water, electricity, trapdoors and much much more. Each level has three areas you must navigate your way through, battling a host of enemies along the way, then a fourth and final area where you must take on one of the six end-of-level bosses! Grab the protective stars as you go and keep an eye out for the many hidden bonuses to help you on your way.
On A Roll 3D is a classic platformer that mixes the regular 2D format with a 3D twist as many of the platforms cross in front of each other. There are plenty of puzzles thrown in that combine realistic physics and logical reasoning with switches, levers and pushable blocks required to open doors and trapdoors, and to reach otherwise inaccessible places.
On A Roll 3D is an immensely fun and very challenging retro platform game!

The springs make a funny sound when you jump on them
This is a simple platforming game, but it is platforming done right! The controls are tight, the game is extremely well designed, and errors are usually to blame on the player. With that being said, this game is easy to complete, but often atrocious to perfect. Getting the extra points for a perfect run-through of each course is very challenging, especially in the DLC that offers worlds 7-9. However, this game is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it to all of the platform lovers out there.
Playing through this game again, but this time on a Steamdeck.
I realize it's not for everybody, but I'm enjoying it even though the game is almost 8 years old.
Sort of a generic and cheaply-made but otherwise good 2d platformer. Not much to say about it, but I enjoyed it.
This is a really simple but well done platforming game - it's on the short side but each of the 6 worlds has a very different look and theme song which makes them nicely differentiated and in general the game looks good and the (few) mechanics are used really well so the play is impressively satisfying for such a casual game. A neat little journey.

I love this game. It's not my favourite, but it is probably my 3rd favourite video game. I like how you can change it to On A Roll 2D. It is my favourite platform game. I give it this game a BIG THUMBS UP!
Here's the thing. I really REALLY wanted to like this game. It had a cute almost nostolgic feel in it's almost direct Sonic The Hedgehog influence. My viewers joked about the simliarities while enjoying some of the simple puzzles and the smooth art style. The soundtrack was pleasant and the enemies for the first few levels were adorable.
Howver, it was about half to 3/4 of the way in we realized that the level design was actually not that great. There was a lot of repeated puzzles, a lot of blatant GOTCHA events that really didn't need to be there (really dynamite on the 3d platform? you served no other purpose), which alos brings up the items like dynamite that really didn't serve any purpose other than to be a trap. There could have been some more cleever thought put into those.
I got this game for under a buck. Was it worth it for under a buck? Maybe. It filled a few hours, but I was rather frustrated with it at the end. Is it worth more than a buck? No, I wouldn't say so. This game feels like a good first try

Simple game but kept me entertained to finish all of the levels. It's sort of bare bones and there's a lot of better platformers. There's no story whatsover, and the Ball has no personality. However, if you get this at a discount, you can spend some time on it and it's all good. :)
It's a wonderful platformer with balls. Graphics are okay, an awesome soundtrack, perfect controls and very good gameplay. Not a single level felt boring to complete and it keeps being challenging from the first to the last level. Bosses are tough, but not too hard, although they have eventually a little bit too many HP later.
For everyone who loves platformers, definitely one of the games you just have to play.
It's like if Sonic, Mario Bros and Monkey Ball had an illegitimate son.
PROS:
- Very pleasant level design
- Achievements, leader board, trading cards
- Joyful and engaging (but also very cheap) midi music soundtracks
CONS:
- Poor graphic design with flat textures, flashy tasteless colors, and even the use of ComicSans in the UI -OMFG-
- Not optimized (cheap 3D engine): unjustified framerate falls on my hig-end PC
- The ball would need a bit more inertia and acceleration to be totally fun to play.
[*]Would also need more chalenging achievements, like finishing the game in one single run, perfect all levels, etc.
Overall rating: 6/10, because of the pleasant level design, easy and fun to play
For a Sonic clone, it holds water. It's simple, fun, and gets the job done as what it wants to be. Game skips the over the top graphics, and focues more on a easy going experience. It's not a masterpiece, but it leave you pleased.
Bom jogo de plataforma 2.5D que apesar de puxar pro lado da velocidade (influência de Sonic the Hedgedog), ser simples e bem tranquilo de jogar, boa resposta dos comandos, e a diversão ser garantida mesmo depois de terminado o jogo. O personagem ser simples, mas bem feito e os chefes terem um desafio simples. Em resumo, jogo simples que te diverte, e te anima a fechar todos os achievements dele. Recomendo!
It feels like the kind of game you'd find in a cereal box 15 years ago, and I honestly can't find anything wrong with that.
It's simple, smooth and decently varied, with enough difficulty to result in a few deaths but not so much that it slows your progression. The 2.5D is satisfying, especially the way the camera deals with the twists and turns, and the soundtrack isn't completely awful, to boot.
Charming stuff, really, would recommend; mediocrity done well.
This is a neat little puzzle game overall. Controls are dead simple, and the graphics are overall OK. There is basically one music track throughout that, while good in and of itself, got annoying to hear after awhile. Also, the camera work really made me nauseous and I had to stop after 15 mins. Too bad really...it's definitely a nice relaxing sort of puzzle game otherwise.
Fun and quick platformer game. Controls are quite precise and you never feel like you should have survived but died because of the game being faulty.
Couple hours of fun for 4€, you can also grab it during sale at which point it will probably be 2€ or even less.
PRE-UPDATE: A classic 2D side-scroller with 3D graphics (2.5D?) with some unique twists thrown into the mix creating a fresh and fun platforming experience.
And although it does use elements seen in most platformers what's wrong with keeping the tradition if it's not broken?
Now I have played the original On A Roll on XBLA and so far On A Roll 3D isn't as difficult as its predecessor, but don't let the game's bright, colorful art-style fool you as it may provide challenge in the later levels.
Which is another thing, this game, despite its simplistic graphics is bright and colorful and makes the game pop (which is always a plus in my book as most games these days have a dull color palette), the controls are very tight and responsive (although controller support isn't the best but still works great) and probably one of the best aspects of the game is its soundtrack, my goodness...this game's soundtrack is super catchy and upbeat, drawing you closer to the game.
POST-UPDATE: The new update for the game basically improves EVERYTHING from a more refined interface, to adjustable resolutions (the pre-update version of the game was locked at 1280x720) to a major overhaul to the game's visuals (pre-update looked fine but post-update made a lot of changes such as better water, shadows and other stuff) and the best part: DEFINIABLE CONTROLS, that means players who use their Xbox One/PlayStation 4 (or other PC gamepad) can finally set up their controller to function properly with the game. (pre-update controls still made you pause the game with the escape key and a few other keyboard inputs and pre-update controls made every button on the game controller perform the same action, BIG thanks to Battenberg Software for answering my question on controller mapping!)
If you like what I say about the game AND is a fan of classic 2D (2.5D?) platformers, then I strongly recommend this game!
P.S. DLC for this game is on its way, so if you're the kind of gamer who likes to get the most gametime out of a single game, then this'll be right up your alley!
Most of Steam's platforming games feature an innovative feature or gimmick which is very novel but complicates gameplay. Kudos to those games, but, sometimes I just want a simple, old-fashioned platformer. On a Roll 3D delivers that in spades. It's challenging, but not so much that I ever became aggravated. The visuals are are outdated in a pleasant kind of way--a throwback to the PC games of yesteryear. Nostalgia, here I come! The controls are responsive and the game appears to be, for the most part, glitch free. I shouldn't have to praise a game for being functional, but sometimes indie titles are a little spotty with control schemes and gameplay. If you're a fan of Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, or the original Gex, you will probably enjoy On a Roll 3D. Plus, you get to play as a cute ball.
The world in which you are playing scrolls exactly as in the old games named "Pandemonium!" - which is a good thing, since it fits the genre and playstyle. The levels aren't too bad overall and neither are the bosses. I played approx. 80 minutes before completing the game, collecting everything in the first few levels and rushing through when reaching world 5. Controls are perfect and the graphics as well as the sound may be a bit bad, but the great gameplay compensates for that. Definite recommendation.
Its basically sonic the hedgehog. The graphics, sounds and level design are on par for later sonic games. If you replaced the ball with a blue hedgehog and the bad guys with robots, and took away the entire plot of sonic you would have On a Roll 3d.
But Sonic is a good game, that i loved and this game is a good game also and well worth the money, it should be played windoweed though, which i dont like. And if there isnt "redundancies" if you push a block down the wrong hole you need to start over basically and lose one fo you lives, which sucks. But i enjoy the game play and the graphics are good (when windowed)

I really like this game. The controls are simple and responsive, the graphics and sounds are polished (and adorable), and I find the gameplay pretty fun.
Interesting game in that the graphics/art style have a retro PS1/N64 look to them. I don't mean that in a bad way and I think that was the aim of the devs here, so if you grew up with those kind of games like I did you'll probably get a nice feeling of nostalgia when playing.
My initial impressions after about a half hour of it is it controls well on my gamepad, which is critical for this kind of game. Doesn't seem to suffer any major performance issues either. Gameplay is a bit slower then a Sonic game & level design doesn't get that complex, but also generally doesn't feel frustrating which is a plus.
Overall it plays fine and has enough variety in the traps, differences in the zones, and overall content to keep you busy for a little while. For the price of a cup of coffee it's worth the couple hours you'll get out of it.
