This near 15 year old game still manages to turn my laptop into a near 15 kg bomb, very realistic experience and taste of freedom, would reccomend to everyone who needs more freedom, gobless America.

I like how realistic and intense the shooting is. I don't like how buggy it can be though or how its game over as soon as one of your teammates dies. I wish it was more shooting oriented and didnt have ant RTS features tbh

It's like Arma3 but for potato computers.

You know when something is wrong when the first thing the game does when you open it is to send you to the community hub. Game is not bad, but now it doesn't even open anyomore.

I'm 30 hours into this game and I'm still waiting for it to be fun.

Defintely a good game but some things could be better, like the mouse smoothing makes the game feel really awkward. However if you want a really good dayz game then buy this and download the mod.

I. That game worth its price.
II. Controls are different than general fps controls, so its hard to learn at the beginning.
III. There isnt any online server.
IIII. Like Battlefield series you can use all warcrafts.
V. You can command all army on the map like a colonel.

Sometimes it's better than ArmA III, sometimes it's not. The gameplay in my opinion gave me tons of fun, but with the shutdown servers you can't get any hot online action. Game has no online fans but it's still sure as hell fun.

Poorly optimized, it runs like crap. I've tried this on two different pc's with specs higher than the recommended one but it fails to run smoothly. This is the first game I have to thumb down due to optimization issues.

I know, this is a 8 years old game. That's not the problem with it. ARMA is little more than Operation Flashpoint on steroids. That's also not the problem. OFP was one of the best games ever back in 2001, why not make it even better. Good job on that.

However this is exactly where it fails. The game is now too realistic to be a game. Tried playing it in campaign mode. All the missions were about memorizing places to go with my squad to do things there. At each place there was an ambush and everybody was firing at something I could never see, then reported that it's neutralized. Seemingly everybody, even civilians always knew where the enemy is, but me. When I finally saw an enemy, it was a tiny, tiny pixel on my screen, very very far, barely distinguishable from terrain.

Yes, I get it, that's how it goes in a real war, you barely ever see the enemy, but this is a GAME. It's supposed to be entertaining. There is nothing entertaining in listening to your buddies' yelling about "man, left, far" (that's how they report pretty much everything) and then either getting a report of having it eliminated or getting shot out of nowhere. If you survive, you can drive them to the next village where it starts again.

It is very, very, very boring. It doesn't have a pinch of the thrill I felt while playing Operation Flashpoint. I feel like I wasted my money and time. This should marketed to the military as a realistic infantry simulator - excellent job as that - but as a game it utterly fails to deliver.

Also, your buddies are total idiots who can't get around a barn without getting lost and the vehicles are barely manageable. It's very difficult to keep a simple car on the road. Don't tell me that's how it's supposed to be: I may not have been to war, but I've driven cars.

I bought this for $2 bucks, however most of the fun was taken away because of gamespy ending which ended multiplayer.

BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE, you one had this amazing game, now it is just a ruin and will stay that way till we get proper servers, yes, dedicated servers.

I will be leaving this as a NO, until you do something about it.

maawww This Game Tricked Me....No normal mutiplayer...They say on the interwebs...The Crew left thier servers behind...Now hold on...I paid for mutiplayer servers.....and Im loving campain..But loney when slabs cant killl another onliner......

Fantastic game. Online multiplayer is full of immersion.

This was the best fever dream I've ever experienced, and never before have I been so disappointed to wake up.

I enjoy the idea and concept of this game and everything looks well and realistic. The only problem I found was that it was slightly over realistic especially when running. It could have just been me and my computer but you bobbed around wayyy too much. Outher then that, this is a good game but if considering buying, i suggest you go for ARMA 3

i played it quite a lot (have several accounts) and had lot of fun in this game.
but in 2018, the game is dead already, everyone is playign the datadisk Arma2 OA, which is same just with mods
you cannot list servers in this game and you cannot list them in gametracker.com for example(all of them are for the datadisk)
but you still can create own server or connect to some server if you know address
anyway, one of my most favourite game

I have a Predator G3, i7, 16gb ram, and a nvidia gtx 1070 ti. I should have NO problem running the game... But I do. It crashes EVERY TIME. I kid you not, ALL of my "playtime" was me trying and failing to join ANY server. And guess what that means? I've lost eligibility to a refund! A huge waste of money on a dying game that should have NO trouble running, and is now just sitting in my library, useless. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Keep in mind, before I requested a refund I requested support, which I never got. So, seeing the developers can't help, or refund me, they get anothe bad review. Just go buy standalone DayZ, or some other sandbox fps game. My friend says Arma 3 is no better off...

Outstanding game! Arma 2 is a game with AWESOME campaign about civil war in Chernarus. Chernarus it's a my favourite terrain like a Takistan in Arma 2: OA. Arma 2 it's a game with new weapons/vehicles/sounds/effects/possibilities etc. This game became popular thanks DayZ mod what i told in Arma 2: OA review. Arma 2 still have a bad optimization but it's gud game. I recommend this game!

It's pretty enjoyable, but frankly, Arma 3 is better in pretty much every way, unless you just want to play DayZ. Still worth it if you can grab it on sale.

Mainly got this for the map editor, and i have to say it's a lot of fun.

Spawning 100 Jets and watching them sail away into the distance and most likely colliding, either with each other or the terrain.

The game is not great for a 2009 game, but I highly recommend this game. If you're the type of gamer who is creative, this game offers sandbox for you to create missions and I think campaign, not just creating your own missions but to create content. This what makes the game still somehow alive in my own opinion.

AMAZING.... enough said... this game is the absolute best when it come to REAL SHOOTER SIMULATION

Only bought it for the DayZ mod, but, fun to play and a great military sim FOR ITS TIME, if your looking for a military sim anytime past 2016, theres plenty of better others if you look, but none quite like this! (excluding arma 3 ofc)

The use of admins in all the arma versions ruin and destroy the basic atmosphere of the game. If an admin likes a player or has friends or relatives on the server, you can say goodbye to a normal playing of the game. Without any admin control of the server there is kaos and the game is also doomed to hackers and other children who make any attempt at playing the game as it is intended almost impossible. Goodbye arma! I played all versions for over a year and was totally dismayed by the use of these, usually, kids of the owner that exerted all kinds of dictatorial control which made playing an unwanted chore...

I Would give this game a 7/10

Its very hard at the beginning it takes time to learn the basics of the game.
ARMA 2 has challenging gameplay its not like other first person shooters
were you go from a mission to another.

Still, my friend told me the battlegrounds are set in Slavic countries like Russia and Ukraine.

My 8th grade robotics teacher played this.
