This brings me back to my childhood <3
baked game
This is a challenging but fun game. Eat fish, get bigger, eat more fish, etc. It's easy for the first few levels, but in later levels. you have to be very mindful of where your fish is in relation to the bigger fish, and also ready to click to dash away at any moment.
I have a few complaints, although I don't exactly expect an update to implement them because this game is from 2006:
* It's frustrating how, every time you die and respawn, you start right back at the beginning of your current progress bar. There were a few times where I was so close to leveling up, only to run into a big fish that came out of nowhere, forcing me to redo all my work of carefully picking out and eating smaller fish.
* I wish there was more variety in this game. You play as a few different fish, but all of them have the same special ability, inhaling fish. I wish the different playable with had more unique special abilities, such as one that makes you temporarily invincible. one that lets you stun nearby fish, etc. One thing that would help is if there was a mode where you could choose to play as any creature. As someone who loves cephalopods, I wish I could play as the cuttlefish and shoot ink.
* The boss fights are okay, but I wish there was more variety in those too. It's essentially the same boss with the same method of defeating it, just with more obstacles in each fight.
For just $5, Feeding Frenzy 2 Deluxe is an absolute gem of casual gaming that still holds up years later. It’s the perfect pick-up-and-play title for anyone looking to unwind—or unleash their inner apex predator.
You play as a variety of colorful fish, starting as a small fry and working your way up the food chain by gobbling up smaller fish while dodging predators, hazards, and the occasional surprise from the deep. The core mechanic is simple: eat to grow, grow to survive. As you get bigger, you can eat more types of fish, which keeps the game-play satisfying and addictive.
The game features a charming underwater world with 60 levels that vary in setting, from coral reefs to sunken ships. The relaxed pacing and gentle difficulty curve make it perfect for kids, but don’t be fooled—there’s depth here (pun intended). If you're feeling competitive, the Time Attack mode adds a challenge by testing your speed and reflexes under pressure. It’s surprisingly fun to chase high scores and beat your personal bests.
Visually, it’s vibrant and clean, and the sound design—bubbly effects, cheerful tunes—makes for a calming experience. It’s like meditation with a hunger meter.
Whether you want a chill game to wind down or a quick, action-packed bite-sized adventure, Feeding Frenzy 2 delivers.
"I booted this up to relax and ended up yelling at a jellyfish—10/10, would snack my way through the food chain again." 🐟💥
so well let me tell you about this game/ in this game you play as fish and some of u might already know fish are known for swimming in the ocean causing comotion. now be VERY careful because there are scary fish in the sea BUT there are also nice fish that love you. and i would like to point out that some fish are ugly but actually they are doing that on purpose because when you are ugly nobody wants to eat you. like i said the fish are sentient so be mindful of that

I think people view this with their nostalgia glasses on honestly...
The game really isn't that well balanced/fun in my opinion.
-Hitboxes make barely any sense (especially obvious once you get to the shark stages)
-You can see about half of what you should be able to (no way to change the zoom to my knowledge)
-Extremely repetitive (most bigger fish are just recoloured versions)
-Constant downgrading of your previously attained size to pad out gameplay
-Squids, pufferfish, jellyfish, and poisoned fish have almost impossible to avoid stuns which can mean an instant death if near a predator
I expected larger fish to get more abilities (similarly to the 2nd fish giving the vacuum ability), but was greatly disappointed when that was the seemingly last unlock of the game. (Only exception being the angler's light which is used about 3 times). The shark stages might've had more stuff to see, but the constant unfairly large hitboxes instant killing me when I can't even see the enemy made me not want to finish this game. I know this is one of the older "feed and grow" style games, but the absolutely horrid design choices make me heavily dislike it for what it is.
Tldr; Buy tasty blue instead.
Ah Popcap in the old days was probably the God at making simple games that were somehow fun, truly saddens me what happened to the PvZ series, ended up as EAs cringe money laundering scheme, filled with microtransactions.
Not what i expected at all
6/10
fosh
There's beauty in simplicity, after all. Nostalgia is definitely a factor in my enjoyment, but the game itself is fun. This kind of game is something we've lost in the age of games on smartphones. Cheap, casual PC games like these just aren't as common, and everything has micro transactions or ads. These are a lost art.
Feel old yet? :"))
Nostalgia wrapped up in the form of food chain
goated fr
Objectively the best game on steam
Played this game after 10 years and what a nostalgia trip that was!! I remember it being harder when i played it as a kid, took me like days.
Introduction
Feeding Frenzy 2 Deluxe is not just a game, it's a portal to the past. I still remember those sneaky moments in school, when one of the computers had this little gem installed. We’d huddle around the screen, taking turns, trying not to get caught by the teacher, completely immersed in the underwater world of bright colors and hungry fish.
Looking back, I realize how much joy this simple game brought during my younger days, and revisiting it today still brings a wave of comfort and pure fun.
Gameplay & Mechanics
The core mechanic of the game is simple yet incredibly satisfying: eat smaller fish to grow and eventually dominate the food chain. With over 60 levels, Feeding Frenzy 2 adds new gameplay elements like underwater currents, jellyfish stings, predator dodging, and more. Every level gradually introduces new challenges, which keeps the pacing fresh and engaging.
The “Frenzy” mode feels rewarding every single time you hit it, it’s a rush of dopamine!
Pros:
- Charming Visuals: Even by today's standards, the cartoonish aquatic world is delightful. The underwater creatures are vibrantly animated, and the backgrounds are colorful and soothing.
- Relaxing Soundtrack: The music is soft, ambient, and perfectly suited for the underwater vibe. It's something that sticks with you even after you stop playing.
- Nostalgia-Fueled Fun: For those of us who grew up playing this game in the mid-2000s, it hits all the right memories.
- Pick-Up-And-Play: No long tutorials, no complicated mechanics, just launch and play. It's ideal for casual gaming or stress relief.
Cons
- Repetitive Gameplay: While it's fun in bursts, playing for long sessions might feel repetitive due to the similar structure of most levels.
- No Real Progression System: Outside of score and high score chasing, there’s little sense of character or story progression beyond finishing the levels.
[*]Not Available on Modern Platforms: It would be fantastic to see a remastered version or a mobile port. This classic deserves a second life.
A Personal Note
As a kid, I didn’t care about high scores or mechanics, I was just fascinated by the idea of being a tiny fish trying to survive in a vast ocean. That feeling still resonates. The game taught me about patience, timing, and sometimes, even the thrill of the chase (or being chased!).
Conclusion
Feeding Frenzy 2 Deluxe may not be the most complex game out there, but it excels in what it set out to do, be a fun, family-friendly arcade game that delivers bite-sized fun. Whether you're reliving childhood memories or introducing it to a younger sibling, it's a timeless treasure.
For someone who wanna remembering their childhood, i think this is a good game.
Simple, nice replayability yet cannot be underestimated the levels, and with the good graphic too.
i love this game so much. the music is amazing. the gameplay is simple but gets challenging as the levels progress. the different mini games add so much. the art style is great and i love the mechanics of the different fish and the different oceans. PEAK
Best game ever fr
i forgot how ugly that fat green fish is
This is the Gen Z equivalent of those weird porcelain figurines you saw at your grandma's house
👍
nothing could ever beat this game
My descendants will forever remember the Feeding Frenzy epoch for generations to come. The pinnacle and epitome of what games should be. Yummy!
I like fish
This game is so peak. (spoiler warning)
Jokes aside, its a great sequel to the original Feeding Frenzy. It keeps the original arcadey formula but expands it with new gameplay gimmicks that don't feel out of place (Like the inhale power up). It also fixes the issues I had with the previous game, like making the shells shake before they close to give players more time to react. Great nostalgia blast, 10/10.
Now if only they'd port the first game to steam..

I like the fish they swim very nice
This is a classic game I played as a child growing up and it still hits the same. It's for all ages, I highly recommend.
keren
