About this version
Outcast 1.1 has been recompiled from the original source code and improved to run smoothly on today's computers.The main improvements compared to the original version are: multithreaded voxel renderer for higher performances, software bilinear filtering on polygonal meshes, part of the HUD redesigned to match higher resolutions, new high-resolution sky paintings, new launcher, native support of xbox gamepad, user-friendly controller configuration, a lot of bugs fixed and improved stability.Story
In 2007, the U.S. government successfully sends a probe to an alien world in a parallel universe. As the probe is transmitting video images of the world, an alien life form discovers the probe and damages it, causing a disruptive backlash of energy to form a black hole threatening Earth. Former U.S. Navy SEAL Cutter Slade is given the job of escorting three scientists (William Kauffmann, Anthony Xue and Marion Wolfe) on a mission to this alien world to recover the probe and stop the threat. Arriving in this alien world, Cutter is separated from the other scientists and is hailed by the natives as their messiah, the Ulukai.

A classic from my childhood. A bit hard to play nowadays, but nonetheless enjoyable. Great soundtrack as well.

I recommend this if you've played it in the past, or you really like the old-school approach.
To make that clear, this is an absolute no-handhold game, I am talking "Make your own quest log on a paper" kind of game! If you're aware of that, I love the atmosphere. And for tze germans: It includes Bruce Willis' German voice with marvelous voice acting.... at least for the time. It's as cheesy as it's classy.

This is genuinely one of the best exploration story games ever to be created. While also being a pioneer in the genre. I played the remake first for the Xbox One, so now playing the original, I have more patience and understanding of the older somewhat janky camera, AI, and movement at times. But especially for 5 dollars, the wonder you feel searching around Adelpha to be rewarded with neat hidden items and the way you progress in your quest to save 2 worlds at once is just so fulfilling to me. I deeply adore this game, and it goes on sale for 2 DOLLARS. With the amount of content and the way the game feels, the more powerful you get by finding more of your items that you lost when arriving on this strange new planet, and the freedom to go essentially wherever you want whenever you want-NOT TO MENTION THE BEAUTIFUL SOUNDTRACK; this is one of the best games you could buy in my opinion.
While interesting. The game was just too old for me.
Outcast is the greatest game ever developed ... at least it was back 1999+ when i played it -- at this time, it featured some groundbreaking features such as destructable environment or the chance to have a (standardised) conversation with every NPC and a trhilling story to help out the Talans: Ulukai ges Okaar, milea korenda ha!
I really want to enjoy this game. But, it's not happening, because this game stutters way too much in the cut-scenes and in the game-play too!!!
I really hope the developers patch this game or the community hopefully will help one-day.
