Bejeweled is easily one of the most influential games of all time. It essentially gave birth to an entire genre of casual puzzle games, introducing a whole new audience to gaming in the early 2000s. There isn't much to say about the game itself, just two simple modes of play where you match gems to increase your score until you run out of moves (in Classic mode) or time (in Timed mode).
While Bejeweled 2 and 3 feature advancements in game mechanics and multiple new modes to learn and play, the original Bejeweled may still be worth revisiting for a short while. I'd recommend waiting for a sale.

These games will always be fun to a fault, a boredom-killer or time-killer type game. This game does this job very well, its very fun and keeps you interested, and it kills boredom. Just buy these when they are like on super sale, if you plan to pick them up.
This is the first game that PopCap was created.

Bejeweled Deluxe

When revisiting Bejeweled Deluxe to review it, I thought for sure that I'd give it a thumbs down. It's the most unpolished looking and sounding entry in the Bejeweled franchise, and yet it's currently priced exactly the same ($5 USD) as the other Bejeweled titles that are all not only aesthetically superior but are also more generous with features and play modes.
Then something unexpected happened when I booted Bejeweled Deluxe back up: I had fun. I had LOTS of fun.
I think that my enjoyment might have something to do with the combination of low fidelity presentation and match-3 gameplay in its simplest form. (Note that timed and classic game modes are the only play options available.) Whatever it is that keeps me coming back to Bejeweled Deluxe, I have to admit that it still holds up as a fun game today. I even found myself passing on my favorite title of the series, Bejeweled 3, just to spend a few minutes with this one.
My only major criticism is, again, the price. Being that there's way less features in Bejeweled Deluxe compared to the other entries in the series, I find it inexcusable that it's priced exactly the same as those other titles. Still, if you want a simple-yet-well constructed casual game to waste some time with, and this goes on sale, I do recommend picking it up.
A classic. And PopCap's oldest and first ever games. Originally first called Diamond Mine until they change it to Bejeweled, It started as a flash/shockwave game before it became a Deluxe game. So if you enjoy match 3 puzzle games this is the game for you.
