Описание

Conclave is an online RPG with the story and turn-based combat of a classic fantasy tabletop campaign. It supports both solo and co-op parties of up to four players, who can adventure together in real time or take turns separately at their leisure.

The game is set in and around the lands of the Conclave, last refuge of the Kin. Its story begins with the unexpected return of a long-vanished Dreamcaller and leads to the discovery of an ageless secret locked within the heart of the Conclave itself.

  • Play a campaign of 25 interconnected adventures that combine combat encounters with story decisions.
  • In combat, take advantage of your abilities and the special qualities of each encounter's battlemap to defeat your foes.
  • During story decisions, choose from options unlocked by your skills, traits, and previous decisions. Your choices influence your path through the story, the encounters you face, and the resources you can draw upon to defeat them.
  • As you gain renown, the Conclave shares better equipment to complement the special items you discover on your adventures. No scrounging for useless items to resell.
  • Five archetypes support a variety of play styles: Vanguard, Beacon, Rogue, True Bow, and Runecaster.
  • Five playable races, all unique to the game's setting: Trow, Nix, Mezoar, Lumyn, and Forgeborn.
  • Not near your desktop? Log in and play through a browser at .

Conclave is the work of the two-person team of 10x10 Room, with additional artistic and musical contributions from Chris Rahn, Devin Night, Christina Roberts, and Sam Hulick.

Game looks like something I'd really enjoy, but there are no options at all. It opens in a window that cuts off some of the UI and *there are no options to change anything*.

Sadly, I cannot play it or recommend it.

Dev said on the forums 7 years ago they were considering adding some graphic options, but obviously they didn't care enough to let players actually see the game.

Not flashy, but a nice and light spin on the world-building: different without forcing the player to memorize a setting.

Gameplay is text-based for non-combat stuff, and top-down gridded combat, like a very stripped down digital tabletop. Combat plays a lot like 4E D&D (the best of D&Ds for tactical combat, and arguably one of the best RPGs for tactical combat in general), but again, rules are nicely simplified without being simplistic. Movement is very slow, but that makes forced movement very impactful, and teamwork is an force multiplier.

Game is multiplayer, but I played solo with no trouble whatsoever.

Very heavy on the reading, but combat can actually be challenging on harder settings, and outcomes in the RP sections of the game are not always obvious.

Solo play can feel boring, but the game really shines with multiplayer (if you have friends who want to play it--but again it does require reading).

Lastly, there is a way to single play multiple characters in a party, but the game is a bit obtuse about how to set it up. Check forums.

Overall, if you like this type of game, it's well done, but you will know if you like this genre. Very classic story-driven RPG with highly tactical combat, strong RP elements and lots of story.

8/10 overall. Recommend playing if you like the genre or are a strong fan of hardcore role playing.

Gameplay: 7/10

Graphics & Sound: 5/10

Narration: 6/10

✔️ Unique asynchronous turn-based RPG gameplay, allowing to play it on multiplayer at any rhytm.
✔️ Interesting tactical possibilities.
✔️ A somewhat intriguing story and setting.

💭 The build system is interesting in its approach but pretty poor. I would have loved more content to play with.
💭 Very little actual choice in the narration. The players have choices, but most of them actually only have short-term consequences.
💭 The key artworks are nice and creative, but the rest is pretty bland. The game would have benefited from more visual coherence and better interface art.

I recommend this game if you want to experience a unique way to play a multiplayer RPG. It is rough and could be improved upon, but it also implements some great ideas I would love more game to inspire from. If you are hesitating on whether to buy the game, you can try it out for free on https://www.playconclave.com/ to help you make your mind.

Hexagonal movement
Magic casting
Storytelling
Online Multiplayer

Why not?
No player character depth
Single-path story
Small world
Limited customization

Great low impact Turn-Based Strategy I co-op Play By Mail. Jump in for a few minutes or for hours. I like the painterly art, and music, and there is plenty of depth considering the overall simplicity in game design. A sort of minimalist group adventure that leaves you with a satisfying table-top RPG experience. The story is fantastic, with group-vote conversation trees that help to involve the players via "chose your own adventure" style dialogue and descriptions ( but you can click through if you are a boring date). Cheap at twice the price, get a copy for friend who has no time to play games but wishes they could. You can play in Browser.

Now there's single player parties! I was waiting until this came out to do my review. I quite enjoy this game. It's pretty slow paced, but I like that. It was super boring when you could only play 1 character. Developing 1 character didn't leave you with many choices or things to do, but now that I have 4, I'm choosing their skills, doing all the combat, and there's so much to be involved in now. I'd give it a 6.5/10. Play it if you like tabletop RPGs or old-school type RPGs.

I freakin' love it!

I dunno why there aren't more games like this all in all. Somethin' about a more tactical, turn-based combat just tickles me sideways, and all the effects and strategy and little abilities and terrain and all is delightful.

There are some definite flaws - it *feels* a little clunky at times, a few small things aren't terribly intuitive - some of the terrain is a little hard to say, it's not obvious at first what is 'impassable' without the square coordinates turned on, it's not clear if you can 'pass' a turn or have to take an action (hint, you do, but you seem to have several at-will abilities you can use every turn, so fair enough), it also seems like you must take your minor action before your major, which doesn't seem super intuitive, it'd be nice to have some higher resolution option..

With that said, I think the positive dramatically outweight the negative. They did a great job capturing a lot of the 'feel' of a table-top turn based type game. Options aren't always good or bad, it isn't always just 'fight or don't fight', there's neat little tidbits that give extra options later, equipment otherwise unavailable, and so forth. You can play entirely asyncrhonously so you need not worry about awkward scheduling - people can pop on, review turns up to theirs, do theirs, and move on. It'd be amazing for a group of folks who want to play but don't often have time to play together, but still want to play.

The classes are familiar but unique enough to be intriguing - I personally love the feel of a 'leader' type role, not a "tank" or a "holy-roller" healer, nor a back-row support buffer, but a character that sorta halfway fits all the roles. Equipment items seem to grant various passives and usable abilities as much as not, which adds that many more little fiddly fun options during combat to use and strategize with. It also seems to work well with fewer than four - my husband and I have tromped through the first handful of adventures, and had quite a bit of fun doing so.. A few were close calls, we even died once, but we used what we learned and stomped it next time..

Altogether, I would love to see more of what Conclave has to offer, no questions asked. I can see some of the criticism - the visuals could use a little tuning up most notably at a glance - but that always takes a back seat to the core game, and to me it's downright delightful. Solid recommend from me, no question about it.

This game is very easy to dismiss. The interface is web-base and a chore to use. The visual feedback is virtually nonexistent. In short, if you aren’t reading the quest text and the combat log, you’ll have no idea what is happening. But if you do read, and you invest a bit of imagination into Conclave, the game can really draw you in; and honestly, that’s what D&D has always been -- your imagination. I have played thousands of hours of tableside RPGs and the experience has always been as good as the group playing. If you have a good group of roleplayers or the kind of imagination that lets you play for hours by yourself, Conclave can be a lot of fun.

The game plays best if you set your Windows Resolution to 1280 x 800.

OK! I've had more time to play Conclave, and I must say: Reading the story really makes this game. Believe me, I am the first person to whine about having to read too much text in a video game. But this is well written and it provides the much needed context to the combat...

I am being chased by slavers after freeing a group of their captives. I took my party off the trail (due to my stealth ability). As night falls, we're hungry and cold, but we found a cave! -- only to be attacked by a bear. This is good fun.

It has almost no graphics by modern standards, not much in the way of sound and a pretty good soundtrack.

But as far as old school turn-based combat goes, it's pretty damn solid. Good fun with a bunch of friends, especially people who have been into pen&paper RPGs at some point. Once you get a few abilities under the character belts it can be quite tactical and sitting around quarreling / discussing tactics on discord is great fun.

It's fun with a group of friends that's for sure. Solo style is probably okay, but best to play with your own music to keep yourself entertain. It's a good game like totally dungeon & dragon / fantasy trip style.

Teamwork is the key to advance in missions / questing, Make sure you provide communications with your friends by allowing who goes first and last and same with A.I.

Overall 7.5/10

I have played through it completely once so far with one friend. I played a Forgeborn Vanguard and my friend played a Lumyn Runecaster. Classic Tank and Mage combo. No issues with co op at all. No server sync issues or displaying incorrect data.

Very seemless with seeing your other party members moves reflected right away. I can play on my phone in a web browser easily.

Game is good at providing info for you. Like if I have the Burn condition I can click on the fire symbol and get details what that means mechanically.

Some fights required very careful tactics for us to come out of victorious. As a tip you can adjust party member's starting location in your party formation.

Quests provide many options at various points and the game does a good job of making your decisions (by party vote) seem meaningful for the overall story.

Since it is turn based, it is a perfect game to play throughout the day for a couple minutes at a time. The texts between the past week with my co op friend were mostly "Your turn".

If you want a fun tactical game that you can play throughout your work day with your friends from your mobile phone then this game is worth the low price.

If I had one complaint it is that I want more of the game to play through, but I have put in many hours one just one play through.... 80+ hours (some of which was just the game being open while I did other things and waited for my friend to make his turn. This game requiers no computer resources to run) Honestly though since it was so convinent and fun to play through co op, we will be making new different characters and play through again.

If you every get a info window stuck where you can't close it, then click on the Party Details button on the left of the screen which will open another info window that you can close and it will get rid of the first info window you couldn't close. I am sure they will patch that issue soon, not a game stopper.

Deliberately slow-paced (but, crucially, not slow enough that you'll lose patience or grow bored), "Conclave" does a pretty good job at recreating the tabletop roleplaying experience. The quests - or at least the early ones I've played so far - are interesting enough, although their branching paths often seem to boil down to you choosing (or, on quests with other players, voting) whether to run away, fight or use a specific character skill to even the odds.

The main meat of the game is the combat system, as that's what you'll spend 90% of your quests doing, and that's where "Conclave" shines. It's not groundbreaking but it doesn't really need to be. You get a minor and a major action each turn, during which you can move your character around the battlefield or perform actions such as healing, casting spells or focusing your bow on a specific target. You'll be surprised at how engrossing such a simple thing can be, especially when played with others.

And that's all there is to it, at the moment at least. Let's be under no illusion here: the game has its share of flaws (the number of pictures you can use for your character's avatar is extremely limited for example) and I've seen a few people say it can be buggy in places. But, if you want a cheap but fairly solid game that lets you explore dungeons and save princesses without having to use your kitchen table as a board whilst keeping track of dice-rolls and minitures, "Conclave" is probably for you.

This game has a lot of potential and overall it's a pretty decent game. I'd recommend it for the potential of things to come. I've done my share of research regarding builds and content further in the game. It's kind've a must-do thing for games like this.

Pros:
- Although not the most solid tabletop system, it does what it's intended to do.

- Pretty decent character customization as far as skills go, but it lacks the depth that a lot of tabletop games offer.

- Several races and classes to choose from.

Cons:
- Battle maps feel limited and have a very small amount of space to move around. Limiting movement to 1 square and dashes to 2 squares is a nice work around this but it'd be neat the maps should be bigger and create a sort of dungeon crawl experience complete with traps and ambushes?

- Very limited character portraits.

- No steam workshop support. This is due to the fact that this is a web based game. It'd be nice if players could add their own portraits, quests and even homebrew classes to the game. Players love making their own content for things like this. As a programmer myself, this would be challenging, but doable.

Conclave has a lot of potential to be a great game but it feels like it's missing a niche. I'm looking forward to playing more and to see what kind've new things the team brings to the table.

Fair warning: Conclave is a browser-based game with major bugs (The 'close window' button doesn't consistantly work for a significant number of the game's pop-ups), no resolution/fullscreen options and less character development than the average World of Warcraft-era MMO.

The setting is mildly interesting, but the stories ultimately come down to 'Option A, Option B or Option C due to a bonus skill' and don't seem to offer much more than generic fantasy drivel that's about on par with your average homebrew setting dossier.

There's a 'demo' available in the form of a F2P mode not mentioned on the Steam page, which allows players to try out the first couple dozen or so missions and get to grips with what the game offers... I urge you to try that before buying the game on Steam... In fact, due to the numerous bugs in the game's UI, playing via the browser is in fact EASIER, since you can just F5 to get around what would otherwise require you to restart the client from scratch.

TL;DR: It's a buggy browser game that takes the worst aspects of modern MMOs (Pre-determined builds, overreliance on random players) and tabletop games (Decidedly average homebrew settings, achingly slow character progression and glacial box-text-based pacing) and combines it into one messy experience. Better to stick to Roll20 for now.

This is a weird one. It tries to be too many things at once, but despite that it succeeds.

Some of the time.

Conclave's meant to simulate the simple fun of tabletop DnD. Its interface is uncomplicated. Its character choices and build options are flavorful. Its maps are clunky grids and its story is full of unpronouncable names.

It moves pretty slowly, but if you and some friends want to do something different for an evening and still fondly remember 3.5 ed, this might not be a bad pick.

Unfortunately, if you're not in exactly that circumstance, Conclave is a little harder to play. Playing with randos over the internet is ponderous. Often it'll move at a rate of one turn a day, if that, assuming that the party leader or some other dude doesn't just give up on playing midway through the first quest.

This would be fine, if you could build and run a full party on your own. However, you're restricted to just controlling one character. It is possible to solo quests, but the game doesn't feel quite balanced for it, and I'm expecting an eventual difficulty spike to come along mid-game and make solo questing no longer an option.

On top of that, skill lists are very limited, so if you want your party to be able to use both Lore and Persuasion, you need to do multiplayer.

Still, Conclave does get some things absolutely right. Important choices during quests are handled with a voting mechanic that's simple, but works. Gear is bought from a pool of Renown, rather than with expendable gold, and your character can be completely respec'd at any time. There are no existing micro-transactions, and there is a pretty solid swath of content.

If you don't have the option of sitting down to play a game of DnD with friends, or you just want something that's less hassle than filling out all those character sheets and deciding on a game master, Conclave can scratch that itch. Otherwise, I'd urge caution with this one, as it's a very specific sort of game and likely not to everyone's taste.

This is alike your standard fare of table top d&d but on digital platform. You can play this solo or with up to 4 friends. There is a find friends / find group function in game that helps find groups within your level. I tried playing with a group off the bat and will recommend playing with one, it is very fun to play with others!

The story writing is good, the text is well written. The game structure consists of navigating a few pages of descriptive text, making a choice among various options (as a group if playing with others, you can see what choices the others pick and the choice with highest vote is taken as the group choice) which either leads further into the story quest or in a battle. Battles are standard d&d turn-based style, every player must finish making his choice before the round ends, but without the need for any order; for example player 1 can finish his choices first or player 2 can do so first, as long everyone makes their choice earlier or later, the current rounds end and the enemy AI makes theirs.

So far the community and players I encountered seem nice, as what you might expect from the community who endorse such a game. There seems to be exclusive better loot given if the party takes on side battles which are harder in difficulty.

Classes seem well varied from each other although there is a limited choice of only up to 5 different races and 5 differnt classes to choose from. There is 6 different portraits for each race, 3 for females and 3 for males, so your pick of the portrait reflects gender of character.

I recommend this for anyone who is into this genre of games.

Conclave in a nutshell:
-rpg
-text based story
-story choices
-turn based combat
-coop (up to 4 players)

Ideal for *Certain* Players

This game has already given me four hours of solid play and I have enjoyed it greatly.

It wont be for everyone. It's a very slow-paced game in comparison to many, because it is turn-based and you are relying on other players if you are in a party. If you are doing something else at the same time and are able to play this as well, that's when I think you will get maximum enjoyment out of it. If you sit there staring at the screen, waiting for all players to finish a round, it could get annoying for you.

I have some fast-paced games (on console, not on this profile, hehe) but I like the pacing of this game. It's very easy-going in that respect, very zen-like...and there sre not many games with this kind of pacing that work in multiplayer RPG's I think - but I might be wrong, just not that I have experianced.

You can create individual characters and then play solo or join a party - or you can flag yourself for people to join you. It has a seamless drop-in/out feature, so if there are gaps in your party, people can come in at any time. You can also leave a party at any time. Up to four players can be in any one party.

This can lead to problems if people drop out during a quest. Quest difficulty ramps up the more players you have, so you could have a situation where you have enough enemies for four players and one drops out, you're in trouble! Or you could wait until someone joins...

The nice thing is that you can stay in the party but put everything on hold...then get emailed when things have started up again. This is ideal for keeping characters with friends, but games could be slow going.

You have to create a profile on the dev's websit, and this will allow you to add party members as friends and invite them to fuuture games.

Peopl have been asking on the forum for the ability to play a party solo (you can only ever control one character) but I do feel this would take a lot away from the game. The idea is that you play as a team and rely on your party to do the right thing, and to help them when they need it. This game comes alive when four people are playing, and the option to party-solo would reduce online availability.

So you have a selection of character classes, races and portraits. The portraits are nice but there are only three for each race. An option to import would be good.

There is a decent selection of skills when you level up, and you can respect at any time (between quests) to try out different abilities. The skills can really make-or-break a battle, so it helps to try out different ones.

The selection of weapons and armour are very limited. There are some random drops from boss fights. I do hope that in the future a greater selections of weapons, armor and trinkets are added because I feel they are missing a big part of what people like about these games. Armor/weapon sets and random added abilities would be great, but I realise that is asking a lot.

The fights themselves are pretty good. Tactical use of movement and abilities comes into play when you are outnumbered and/or faced with powerful foes. There *is* friendly fire, adding another tactical layer: do you run to meet them and activate an AoE ability that affects many of them but also makes you the main target?

Maps are varied and can be effected by fire. Each square between you and them can matter.

I would recommend watching a playthrough to get an idea of the speed of the game. If you are happy with how it plays out time-wise, you will enoy this. I have already got my money's worth from this - it is a very social game, and has a kind of magic in it that you don't see very often. 10/10 for me.
