Fleet Defender is the first flight simulator to accurately recreate carrier-based operations. Experience all the excitement of a catapult launch, realistic air-to-air combat and the challenge of landing on a pitching deck. You'll be drawn into the high-stakes world of Navy's top guns.
Start your career the same way as a real F-14 crew: training at Oceania Naval Air Station, Virginia, home of the Atlantic Fleet Tomcats. From there, you're bound for duty in the Arctic waters of Norway's North Capa or in the southern Mediterranean, of the Libyan cost. You'll need razor-sharp piloting skills to defeat hostile aircraft using state-of-the-art fighter tactics.

- Realistic enemy AI. New artificial intelligence is patterned after Soviet and Third world military doctrine.
- Expanded Player-Wingman interaction. As flight leader, a wide range of interactive commands allow you to exercise complete tactical control of your wingman.
- Terrain graphics. The latest 3-D terrain generating technology produces a vivid, detailed world based on digitized data from the U.S.G.S (United States Geological Survey)
- Strike packages. Each mission requires you to integrate your F-14 with a variety of modern naval aircraft.
- New enemy aircraft. Face the latest in Soviet fighter technology, the Su-27 and MiG-31. Use your Tomcat to hunt down "Bears", "Badgers" and "Backfires".

cheap, playable and realistic, I don't really care its graphics.
Got this to have some f14 fun on the Steam Deck. Its an old but surprisingly fun flight sim game. Absolutely recommended if you dont mind okd games.
This game is better than Maverick in Top Gun 1&2 plus Cole Trickle in Days of Thunder. It's like Tom Cruise to the 4th power.
I think one of the most popular planes on DCS is the F-14. If you're poor and either don't have a PC good enough for DCS or simply don't own the F-14 itself you can get this older game for 6.99 dollars! Wow thats a lot! Another game I got from a bundle along with other old Microprose simulators. So is it good? Well yes! Its not as good as the B-17 The Might 8th simply because that one is much more modern so its easiler to get into but its not as bad as the F-117 and F-19 games because those are impossible to get into due to how old they are. In here in the campaings you need to take off which is an immediate issue because I still do not know how to get the engines going. Fortunately that does not stop you from playing the game. You can do some quick missions by choosing the enemy plane and just fighting against them you can choose what altitude both of you start in so you never need to take off. There are some training missions too which start you in the air and make you fight against both friendly and enemy planes in either 1v1 or 1v2 settings. There is some actual campaings but like I said I didn't play them cuz I have no clue what buttons are for throttle and obviously I can't take off if I don't know that so I can never do the missions.
+The cockpit looks really nice.
+The buttons seem to be a bit easier compared to the F-117 and F-19 games. Shooting your guns and shooting missiles is very easy. If I'm noting this down as a positive point in the review you can guess just how little I played lol.
+Thankfully unlike F-117 and F-19 in certain missions you can start in the air with your engines already on. I have no clue if they're at 100% power or not but they work. Good luck figuring out how to start your engines and raise/lower power.
-Very old, hard to get into but thankfully not as hard as F-117 or F-19. Still harder then B-17 The Mighty 8th. Once you do get it working its fun.
See in the previous two games you didn't really have any options. In which game have you ever seen a stealth fighter called F-19? Or in which game did you ever get to use an F-117? Not a lot I bet. But an F-14? You got DCS if you want a simulator experience and you got War Thunder if you want a less realistic experience. I'm giving this a thumbs up cuz I just really like old games but that doesn't mean you should buy it. Go for something modern instead.
