One of the greatest games ever
If you enjoy games like PAC-MAN, and mazes its the game for you. Easy enough to learn and challenging enough to make it fun.
A fairly simple but fun roguelike. Has a nice variety of game modes, a good bit of loot to collect, and a never ending dungeon to explore. The power ups are fun and there's a nice selection of characters to choose from. Felt pretty solid for such a cheap game. Great little score for just a couple bucks!
Update: I just got all achievements. I enjoyed it so very much. The MAXIMA MASH is the craziest mode I ever played. 10/10 would play again!
Certainly a very fun game I got really pleasant surprise. The only bad thing about the whole experience is the “Continue” option in the main menu – I don’t know why is still there. You can’t save the game; which makes sense because is just a casual roguelike.
My take on this experience are: simple input, simple flow good sense of progression and the difficulty increases gradually adding 1 new variable to the mix. The multiple game modes make this a perfect game and for this price… seriously, is a must have.
This little game is good for little 5 minute lunch breaks
as you just select one of 9 modes and then get the objective:
Get as much points possible while surviving in a dungeon,
that gets larger, darker and more dangerous the deeper you go.
I like it.
As someone who bought this game two days ago and has earned all 51 achievements through approximately 10 hours of gameplay, I have to say that it is one of my favorite Steam games of all time. The beauty of this game is in its simplicity. It's the most basic kind of dungeon crawler, and as the name implies, one that you can just pick up and play anytime.
Gameplay revolves around collecting power-ups, avoiding/killing monsters, finding a floor's key, and then finding the exit, with bosses every five levels in the main game mode. This simple formula, combined with the mechanic of each progressive floor getting darker and thus more challenging to navigate, provides a surprising amount of fun, and the atmosphere is, at times, unquestionably tense.
Like any good rogue-like (as this could be classified, were it more prone to complexity), Instant Dungeon is designed to be played over and over again, each death teaching the adventurer a new lesson. Expect to die many times and, depending on the type of person you are, possibly curse the monsters that murder you. (Maybe that goes without saying.)
Sadly, my achievement-centric style of playing Steam games ensures no future play session of Instant Dungeon will be as fulfilling, thanks to my gapless collection of colorful trophy squares.
Nice little time waster just as it basically advertises itself to be. Want to go spelunking and see how far you can get and what score you can get with no real need to worry about story and real progression then give this a boot up! There's definitely an interesting variety of weapons/items you can grab and use as you get further into the "dungeon".
Achievements were kind of a pain, especially the last few (the wraiths in particular). If you can get far enough in the normal mode (level 40 I think) then you unlock a mode that definitely helps with that particular type of grinding. Some of the modes are just...a huge difficulty skip as it puts you practically into the further levels (with respective monsters and lightning conditions). The "quest" and "retrieve a friend" modes were amusing to tinker with. And if you want to compete with a leaderboard there's that too.
For the cost it is and for what is really there (the pictures and videos on the store page basically show it), I felt it was worth the cost. If you need a small thing to amuse yourself for while then give this a shot!
This is quickly becoming my favorite game! Granted, shades of Pac-Man...but I'm getting more enjoyment out of this game, especially with different modes, good action, and the chance to kill some things...lol. Why is it that the most enjoyable games these days are inexpensive and relatively simple, yet challenging and varied enough for massive replayability? Compared to something I got ON SALE for forty bucks, just to watch the stuttering and framerate drops, infinite loading times and mediocre fun level, to ultimately discover I COULD be playing 'Instant Dungeon instead?? This game is more fun that I expected...consider this a safe bet for your 2 bucks!!!
A great little game, perfect for low power laptops and the sort of game to keep you entertained for a train journey or even a quick 10min blast. Different game modes offer different puzzles along the same theme, the tactical part about choosing what to equip and in what order is quite cool too once you get the hang of it.
This game simply offers a lot more than its price. It got a lot of modes and it has replay potential since the dungeons are randomized. There are different characters however they don't have any special characteristics or abilities. The design of the game itself is really fit into the theme that it tries to follow and the music well its not amazing ,but it is not something that’ll make the game bad in anyway. If you are even looking at this page then you probably have an idea of what to expect. No amazing graphic or soundtrack ,but it is one hell of fun game to sink time in.
I feel like I’m robbing them for the price I paid for it ,definitely worth it.
don't come into this game looking for something great. This is basically a fun little time waster. Good for playing inbetween other games or if you are bored waiting for something to downoad. If you play this game for more than an hour at a time you will get very bored

Can't really recommend this game, there are far better roguelikes on steam and this more closely resembles pacman or old intellivision games like Lock n Chase. I guess there's a time and place for that, but if you're looking for that fun roguelike where you just want one more round, this isn't that game.
Barely anything is randomized, in fact I had to read that it was indeed randomized to even be aware of that.
Character progression is completely absent and character selection is cosmetic only.
There is no 'gear', there's no attack or defend. You find an item, pick it up and use it and its on to the next one, only ever holding one at a time.
I see that there are other game modes but they are locked at start and frankly it's not fun enough for me to put up with unlocking them.
Game is definitely worth, especially if you are into these 8-bit style games. Apart from that i would like to note how awesome and helpful the developer is.
Some days ago i contacted him about a problem where i could not hear any music at the game.
The developer heard my calls and eventually found out what was wrong. He rushed to make an update and now it plays fine.
To sum up, definitely a game that is worth a look from a developer who seems to be passionate and caring about his work.
This game is pretty fun! Pick it up on sale for a quick romp about. I like to play it in-between league matches while my friends rae getting water/food/ect. It plays nicely with a controller. This game doesn't have much depth, but its pretty fun! -PR0XIDIAN
Instant Dungeon! is a game you can boot up and start playing in an instant. (Surprised? Me too.)
It begins so simple in a small room with a simple objective; get the key to open the door to advance to the next level, collecting loot along the way for score.
The further you delve the bigger, darker, and fuller of both enemies and items the rooms get.
Once you've played the default mode you can unlock other modes by hitting criteria, like reaching floor 30 etc.
This game is great for when you don't want to spend a long time in menus/settings, or when you don't really have much time to play a game at all. (Although after some attempts runs can get long).
Obviously I haven't covered every aspect of the game as I like to keep my reviews fairly short, however I will add that at the time of writing the developer is active and very much in touch with the players.

Its a good game for $2.... however it gets rather boring.
Running around the first couple of levels is great but when you get to level 100, its like okay.... Im still doing the same thing i did on level 1, except the lights went out :p
There is a charm in the simplicity and its unique spin on what is essentially Pac-Man. There are tactical decisions to be made: maze layouts and enemy placements to consider, deciding when and where to use the one-shot items peppered around the labyrinth (of which you can only carry one at a time) There are several alternate game modes to unlock, and the difficulty will ramp up quicker than you will notice before it kills you, so there is no shortage of potential challenge here.
A little on the shallow side, but pretty clever all the same. $2 is 8 quarters, and it is worth at least that many plays on trip to the arcade.
Don't get me wrong, the game isn't bad, even more for the price. However i was expecting more and i got dissapointed a bit ...
The first few level are super easy the difficulty increase at a slow pace and drastically upgrade in one shot. Considering that one bad luck and you are up to pass again 20 really easy floor before getting back to some challenge.

They have no ability, no superpower, no trait. It's just a different sprite. Really wish they'd implement something unique to every character other then skin.
The rest is ok but to me, this game is mostly ok. Didn't played hours on it but i don't see the point to do so.
Didn't regret buying it.

Instant Dungeon is an exploration maze game and for 2 bucks I had to try it out. I am glad I did because it is super fun. The game takes the new mechanics of procedural generation and mixes it with old 8 bit themes and gameplay. What results is a solid game with the right amount of addictiveness that will keep you entertained for hours.
You play as any number of the randomly generated heroes and your goal is to make it through the maze like levels and progress deeper and deeper into the dungeon. It is a roguelike with no carry over so after each death its a clean slate. As you delve deeper into the game it becomes much harder with larger levels and more and more baddies in each level. There are items, both offensive and defensive, that you can pick up to help you on your way. From axes, throwing knives and magic spells to shields helmets and torches to see better.
If this was all the game had it would be worth the money and then some but the creators decided to throw in even more awesomeness. There are several different game modes. There is a questing game mode where you have to kill x amount of a certain bad guy, there is a saviour mode where you have to save another hero from the boss and escape without dying plus quite a few more mode that I have not unlocked yet but fully intend on doing.
All in all this game is a $2 gem that everyone should play. Unfortunately I feel like it was overshadowed because it release the same time as this Thanksgiving steam sale.

Just as the description reads, this game is great for jumping in when you only have a few minutes to play something or you just want something light. That being said, the game is not light on variety. Nice sound track. The graphics tug on the nostaligia strings. Good mix of monsters. I like the different weapons so far, ranging from the one kill dagger to the multi-kill fireball and axe. Looking forward to unlocking the different game types.
I read a few comments and wanted to add that the character selection is visual only. It does not impact gameplay. Items are usable by any character.
I definitely recommend this game.
