I bought this game by mistake for my brother. He didn't played it, but after some months I started playing it with my controller (not keyboard) and find it super saiyan amazing. I am still playing it and thinking of buying xenoverse 2 and 3 and so on. Maza aa gaya.

I absolutely love this game I would recommend it to any Dragon Ball fan and also people that aren't Dragon Ball fans the game is amazing sure I got it well it's on sale But I would say it's worth the full amount Of money I haven't played Xenoverse 2 yet but once I do I will write a view on that

I didn't like the levels and skill points mechanics. I mean, you can beat any quest or mission skill wise, but if you don't have the required level you will get beaten in no time. Also it can get pretty unbalanced and repetitive, and I don't mean the missions, it is a fighting game all there is to it is fighting; but you get to a point in which enemies will spam special attacks and you will be forced to stop fighting and start spamming specials. Story and customization are cool, though.

Okay, I have a lot to say about this game. However, I will start by saying that I love this game, my playtime should speak to that. But I cannot recommend it in good conscience, for a variety of reasons. Chief of which are that it is an online game with a low player count nowadays, and that you can get all of this game's content within its sequel for less than just buying this game.
Now, to get to my review proper. This is written from the perspective of someone who has completed this game in every sense of the word. Yes, I spent hundreds of hours grinding Parallel Quests to obtain everything in the game.
My perspective on this game has shifted a lot over the amount of time I have sunken into it. I started off full of nostalgia for the game I played way back at release, then I went to a slightly harsher view, and finally to acknowledging that, though I love this game, it does not respect the player or their time. I'll break this down into a few sections, and go over what I like, and why I think this game actively fights the player for wanting to enjoy it.
Section one, the game play. This is the game's strongest point, never once did I stop enjoying this. I am not very big into fighting games, I'm just not good at them, but this one I enjoy a lot. It's simple, easy to pick up, a whole lot of fun. My only real complaints are the fact that you can't see your opponent's stamina or Ki, and thus can't make informed decisions based on them, and an issue I'll expand on in section two. This is a simple arena fighter, and occasionally a beat-em-up. You have a few methods of attack; weak attack, strong attack, ki blasts, evasive skills, and Super/Ultimate attacks. To use super/ultimate attacks, you have to have a corresponding amount of Ki, being 100 (equal to one visual bar) and 300 respectively, and to use evasive skills, you have to have 300 stamina. Additionally, you can vanish by timing a button press with an opponent's attack, or you can block incoming attacks. There are a few issues I have with the special attacks, but to go into them, I'll need a bit more context. There are several different types of attacks in the game, Strike, Energy, Power-up, transformation and other. Strike attacks, in my opinion, are difficult to land and rarely give enough damage to be worth that lack in range. Energy attacks feel random at times, and because some are nearly identical to each other, finding the best ones can be quite the difficult task. Power-up moves are rarely worth even thinking about as they leave you wide open for at least a second or two for buffs that sometimes hardly last 10 seconds. Tranformation skills have a unique problem, in that out of the 8 total options, (7 in the base game), a whopping 4 of them can only be used by Saiyans, and on top of that, those 4 are the best ones in the game. Other type skills are a mixed bag, but they do contain the only way to charge Ki without attacking or being attacked. No full set of skills is without its odd issues.
Section two, Difficulty balancing. This is just bad, there is no way around that. The game feels like it was balanced entirely around Saiyans, because they have the absolutely broken ability to spam ultimate attacks for as long as they have ki and stamina as soon as they get access to the first of 4 different Super Saiyan skills. This overpowered ability means that if the game wants to have any challenge to the myriad of people that pick Saiyan because this is a dragon ball game, they have to over tune the difficulty as any other race. There are some missions that borderline require the ability that Saiyans have to lock down enemies, as they want you to protect characters that have very little health. I tried to play as a Majin for a bit, after unlocking the ONLY Ultimate attack transformation that non-Saiyans can use, and I found that one such mission was prohibitively difficult when I was unable to keep pressure on one enemy indefinitely. That is a harsh strike against this game, but not as harsh as...
Section Three, RNG. This game is absolutely plagued with RNG, and it takes thing from fun to frustrating VERY quickly. The game's content is mostly held within the 67 (66 not counting the tutorial, 55 not counting DLC) Parallel Quests, and these are where all of the RNG is held. Practically everything in these horrible things is RNG. Skill drops, clothing drops, accessory drops, and even whether you get to go to the end of the mission are all random. Every mission has what is called an "Ultimate Finish" in which enemies will get up, or new enemies will spawn after the end of a mission. To access these sections, you must meet certain conditions while playing the mission. This is fine by itself, a cool idea even. However, it is not fine that even if you fulfill these requirements, there's a good chance the mission will simply act like you didn't. Worse yet, the game doesn't even give you the courtesy of telling you what the conditions even are until you have successfully triggered them AND the game decides to allow passage into these sections. This would be bad enough even if some of the conditions weren't odd and overly specific, like one relatively early mission where you have to leave an area mid battle, find and recruit an ally, who is the only one in the game who will join you on speaking to them, and then return to the battle, and let that new ally die. And even then, after all that, there is a good chance the game will bar you from the Ultimate Finish portion of the mission. And if that weren't bad enough, there are many, MANY drops throughout the game with abysmal drop rates that can only be accessed WITHIN these section that have RNG just to get to. Grinding this game to full completion to a toll on me because of the sheer amount of random elements.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this game both because it is outdated, and, though I love it, it would sooner spit in the player's face with awful RNG than actually respect them and their time.
Great Dragon Ball game, definitely get if it's on sale otherwise get Xenoverse 2.
currently watching dbz and stopped as i just got to the cell bit so ye good game but probably recommend getting it after finishing dbz first

Pretty good, just know you'll have to farm some missions in order to not get curb-stomped in the end-game, it gets a little tough.

So its not like xenoverse 2, this was the test version of that. I think they could've adapted the controls alot better. The immersion break is the going between platforms, its not as open as the second one, teachers are no where near as cool as the second one either.
DLC is ok... I guess...
I prefer xenoverse two, but one has a charm or two to it.
well this is quite obvious why you should've buy this due to it no longer being supported and it is old and boring walking missions etc basically what I am saying is this game is old and isn't worth your time

The game slow and confuse, a lot of small things that could be easly fixed, that pile up to make the experince horrible
You have a main lobby that you move around running in a very slow speed, they could make you just be able to fly in decent speed, but nope, also they could make it smaller, ir has lot of empty space that just make you waste time to run around, worst thing to start a game in.
The shops all say the same thing when you go talk to them, every time, it get's anoying very quickly.
The fighting feels a bit clunky, idk if get better with time and more skills, also i don't feel the "power" in the special attacks, they feel kinda lackluster

Quickly realized this was a waste of money. The fighting is the most important thing in the game, but it was the only good thing. Even the little things, like not being able to change your appearance (other than clothes), just seemed like an obvious mistake the developers had to have thought about but didnt care.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse brings fans into the Dragon Ball universe with customizable characters and a fresh time-traveling storyline. The combat captures the series' intense, high-flying battles, but repetitive missions and camera issues hold it back. Still, it’s a fun experience for die-hard Dragon Ball fans.

good game
DBXV1 is a really mixed bag. It was revolutionary when it first came out and it was a lot of fun when I first got to play it. That being said it didn't age well. While the character customization is really cool it is insanely outdone in DBXV2.
Major Complaints:
- Learning skills from mentors is hard as shit. They don't spawn in at the same places and are not guaranteed to spawn in to the map.
- Super Saiyan is absolutely required if you play a saiyan. Stamina and Ki doesn't matter when you're transformed. It's Spam City
- Collecting the dragon balls is one of the worst grinds in the game. The odds of you getting the one star ball never changes even if you have the other 6.
[*] There isn't really much content for transformations unless you play a saiyan.
Overall if you want to play a DBXV game go with DBXV2 it's a much more polished game and has aged really well. It's also 7 years old and still getting regular updates while DBXV1 was left for dead when DBXV2 was announced

this game is genuinely great, you should probably get xenoverse 2; but the saiyan saga through the buu saga is really well done and very fun.
the fighting can get kinda annoying when you first start. if you are wanting to have a more smooth/satisfying or better graphical Xenoverse experience i would say get Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on sale
i would give this a 7/10 (not worth the full price, get it on sale)
