The Flight Simulator X Software Development Kit (SDK) is not included with FSX: Steam Edition.
If you already have MSFSX installed on your PC and are concerned about running the two games alongside each other, you may wish to consider installing FSX: Steam Edition on a separate PC.

DO NOT BUY (Unless its like 90% off and you like retro games). As much as this is a nice Flight Simulator... its just... old. Buy something else for $30 (not to mention the $60 you have to spend to make this game work properly with the ad-ons).
i Like The Graphics Of This Game btw i Play MSFS From XBOX Game Studios
This progrm works well on older computers and not very powerful graphics cards. the aircraft response is very good and can be very challenging when flying in real weather or stormy weather.
You will never complete Flight Training courses without this app.
Time, finance, circumstance work against you.
Do all intensive, Focus Training Programs if you want a license.

Took a short trip out of Phoneix to KPGA and enjoyed looking at the scenery. The airplane seemed to be very much like the real thing having taken a few lessons myself.
Awesome to refresh and practice IFR procedures like holdings, racetracks, ILSs and so on.

This Game is amazing: you can mod it easily and its not hard to control (i use mouse yoke)

Ironically has more flight sim features than Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

Love the graphics and the 3d cockpit! It is fun to fly around my hometown and to visit other locations.

Great product, default planes are great to learn the basics and fun and realistic enough for more experienced players.
With the terrain mods it still looks pretty decent and the planes have nice detail. definitely a fun simulator if you want something a bit cheaper than the current version or you're just getting into sim flight.

Virtually unplayable on modern Windows. Requires a baroque installation process to get it working at all under Win 11, including running Steam as administrator and reinstalling DX9. Once you do get it running, you're welcomed by dialogs about broken certificates. Try flying and you can choose from viewing your aircraft from either side (but not from behind), or having the screen filled with a low-poly view of the pilot's seat. Now enjoy your inevitably short flight, which - if you're lucky - won't end with the whole thing crashing back to the desktop. Happy flying!
Orginal Flight simulator, still even after years, still really good, gonna continue playing this version, why?, because i like it.

i can run this on my potato pc and its still silky smooth 10/10 fun,easy to download addons,works on low end pc's
FSX:Steam seems to be a LOT more stable than the FSX off the shelf or out of the original MS packaging. The Steam Edition seems to have ironed out a good majority of the operational and system bugs that existed in store-versions of FSX. Customizable/moddable with many external mods resources, including detailed terrain mesh packages.

Side by side config error, yes ive tried installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack (x86 and x64), it still whines about needing a specific version to run (a version that I cannot find anywhere on the microsoft website)
Game is completely bricked
Probably one of the best flight simulators i have ever flown. The newer ones are basically this one with newer graphics. At least this one does not have nearly as many bugs and I can load in and fly whenever.
I love this game its old but its iconic graphics are amazing love it so much
Was far superior to earlier FS versions, and great for making up flights. I mostly flew small one engine planes because I would often go to small airports. For instance I once flew from St Paul to New Orleans along the Mississippi River, landing at each small runway as I headed south. Finally upgraded to a more than enough gaming computer and monitor, so looking forward to updating to FS 2024 tomorrow.

I have been playing this for 9 years and enjoyed every minute of 3442 hours. I am a FSX addict. It has NEVER failed me. It has been a life saver in my retirement. Reloaded after getting a new PC with Windows 11.
Good as a starter flight sim but I recomend upgradeing to the 2020 or 2024 version

Its the entire world, although by today's standards a bit "primitive." But for being able to run on almost anything nowadays, AND $25 in a market ruled by $60+ titles, its well worth the time to put in, vanilla or otherwise.
HOWEVER, be prepared for crashes and digging through MDMP files and debuggers, scrolling forums for help, and doing ramshackle fixes to keep it running on modern operating systems and hardware. The game is 18-20 years old by now, but that comes with the benefit of almost two decades of forum help and game veterans to help you on your way. Only 6 hours in, finding the whole process very enjoyable!

MSFS2024 is better, but if you're playing on a potato pc with just a mouse, FSX is enough.

If you want to take flying lessons in a Cessna 172 this simulator is as close to a real cockpit simulator as you can get. It will a lot of stress away from your first few hours of flying lessons.
Almost unplayable due to the fact that the game is constantly changing/reverting my settings. Twice my settings were changed mid-mission when my sound device settings changed lost all voice sound and another when my compass/pointer setting changed and I lost my pointer. But the fact that I load my settings, enter the game and my settings already need to be changed again? Infuriating.
This is certainly an aging simulator, however, it is a lot of fun for developing your own scenery and exploring your creations. It's also a great classic with lots of freeware options that make it more appealing visually and many options to fly all kinds of aircraft! This one will always be in my library due to how interactive it is.
