Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

genuinely one of the worst flight experiences I've ever played.

It runs really well even on less powerful hardware, love flying over different countries. Very nice scenery for a game over a decade old! Highly recommend if it's on sale

keeps crashing just black screen will not load. I am using an R5 Alienware area 51 PC

so nostalgic playing this game fly over asia is my fav place to fly totally recomend if you have low spec but wanted to fly in flight simulator

This one works, made load in slow and not have fancy GFX but it works.. I dropped $150 on the new and it has yet to work, I have not even flow once.. But this one is spot on all the time..

i just want to rebuy this game because I been having problem with my license (key) at Steam Game Store.Steam is telling me i can not rebuy this because it in my library already. Shit why ? Is this some sort of controlled. i should be able to buy what I want and when I want without no one permission.Please allow freedom of controlled not controlling of freedom.It our God give right .

You sit down to fly a plane and mid flight the game crashes.... You change the settings you play. You turn close the game reopen, the settings are back to default.

I've always had a love /hate relationship with fsx .The Payware planes are so incredible, especially the A2A planes with working animations, ORBX animations and airfields were a huge improvement, however...fsx came with a host of issues like pop in scenery glitches,out of memory crashes to desktop with a lion share more of issues. If only msfs 2020 and 2024 could offer the same great planes with the same charm as fsx could only have. I will continue to play around in this sim as long as I can stand it!

It's intuitive and the software is easy to use.

I've owned every version of Flight Simulator, from FS 95 that was installed from floppy disks, to FS 2000, FS 2002, and I can safely say that FSX was the biggest step up in the Flight Simulator universe back when it was released. It also started the add-on trend, with various athird party add-ons available, many amateur and many professional.

This game is obsolete. The problem is the LOD of "objects": Trees, buildings.
These load on screen just when they are very near, so you see popping all the time, and you can't see buildings and trees when you are flying too high, even if your graphics card has plenty of VRAM.
So there is no visual pleasure, I don't recommend this game, it's too old now

It gives more stability than the boxed version of FSX, also it would use more updates and tweeks to put it on par with P3D.

I originally encountered flight simulators near the military end. I'd fly dcs, Il-2 and many more military simulators. However I never truly built on my flight principles because of the insuffecient flight knowledge. Only till I encountered Fsx, the perfect academy/simulator, that all my questions were answerd. Protocals and detailed tutorials made flying educational and freeing. The best part about this game is that you dont require a single dlc in order to enjoy this game. DLC is more of a aircraft or extra details thing. Not everything is locked behind a paywall. If you want to get into simulators with proper knowledge to tackle real to life situations, this is where you start! -edit-: The simulator also has a very comprehensive learning section where certain topics are divided in relatable and in depth explanations. You can check out subjects like weather, aircraft type, radio communication and many others, Its simply amazing. So far 70% of my time in this game is in the learning center out of shear awe, however that is soon to change as ill be prepared to tackle any situation.

this is a good game with good physics, also its good for people with a low-end pc like me

Because who doesn't want to live the thrill of flying a night time flight from Fargo ND to Ely MN which even though you can't see a thing you can just feel how little the topography changes through the pitch black. Altitude altitude retard retard 5 out of 5 stars. There are some dishes that change your life in one bite. MSFS is that dish that makes food critics with soft tears flow as they flash back to a warm fuzzy from childhood not at all concerned with the fact that it was created by a rat. A creature that carries fleas, their fecal matter causes Hanta virus and they are known to be cannibals that thrive in sewers and landfills. Maybe that's a bad analogy. Truth be told there is a version you can play in VR, that has the help of satellite photography. That being said maybe you need to go back in time and re-live this adventure. Resolution that will now make your eyes vomit because your addy brain can't accept anything less than 8 k with light speed fast refresh rates. Maybe you just like trolling in the digital slums? I don't know you do you. All this to say that it's still a fun time. Also just watch the videos on the store page if you don't buy it they are gold dipped in beluga sturgeon kobe white and black truffle dry aged A5 blow your faceoff trailers.

Was working fine until i upgraded my PC from windows 10 to windows 11 then I have had no end of issues trying to launch beyond start screen very frustrating as otherwise this is a great flight simulator

aircraft will not turn using flight yoke while taxing

I know, it's the classic that me myself's been playing since childhood. But man is it UNSTABLE! It crashes(FSX crashes, not the plane it simulates) so often that it's so upsetting that your effort just went poof so often. I don't know it's steam editions problem or what. I was playing original FSX on a laptop back then and the graphic all screw up but I can still play! Nah it's not worth it anymore.

The graphics are kinda reminding me of FlightFear (FGFS), typical 2000s game. There are many free high quality mods on the internet. It only bothers me that sometimes when im using ATC a lot, like during landing, i can't interact with anything anymore. then the game freezes and crashes. It's still a great game overall, if it's on sale I'd recommend buying it. Controls are a bit weird at first but after configuring and getting used to them, they're just fine. It detected my yoke and joystick right away>

I would say that this is a very solid simulator. Almost any computer should be able to run this game. It is a nice step towards getting FS 2024 or 2025. This game has given me the motivation to get my PPL which is a very big step. Now because of this game, I am majoring in Aerospace Engineering and I am in the process of getting my PPL. I would say highly recommended for even begginers!

This is probably my favorite version of the Microsoft Flight Sim series. I started playing this one on a little laptop with the graphics set super low and now play it on a proper PC to experience the full range of graphics. I do recommend that you use the recommended graphics settings for this game and not just the minimum requirements so you can get more out of it. I have been playing the MS Flight Sim games for years and so far they have not failed to deliver a lovely game!

Not worth it in 2025, especially not the steam edition. If you're considering it get X-Plane 11 instead, which is running well on 11 years old hardware for me.

A very cheap high quality simulator for those with a budget PC. Runs extremely smoothly on my 6 year old office desktop

Nostalgic. Awe-inspiring. . . and brings out the pilot-wannabees in some of us! Since i first installed FSX Deluxe via 2 DVDs and the FSX Acceleration Pack DVD way back in 2007, i instantly fell in-love! Got hooked and I downloaded lots of Add-Ons and Expansions like Ultimate Terrain X's and Airport Liveries, Jets like the F-15 and F-16, i knew this is one-of-a-kind. A "treasure-game" to keep. Time flies so fast then sadness struck as I wasn't or couldn't install the same game when i updated to Windows 10 Pro for Workstations from Windows 7. I became busy due to the realities of life. Fast-forward a couple of days ago, hesitant and skeptical as I purchased this FSX from Steam, now "Steam-Edition", Lo and behold!, I couldn't be more grateful! This made me complete again as it flawlessly work on my i7-NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti-16 Gig RAM Combo PC set-up! I also purchased and installed some important DLCs and i'm so genuinely happy again! It only proves Microsoft Flight Simulator X, no matter how old and ancient it is now, will always be near and dear to my heart. Thank you Steam and more power! :-)

The 7.9 hours is a lie. This game won't boot. Waste of $25. Never got to play 5 minutes. Last f*cking MicroShit software I'll ever buy.

If you can get this on sale it is an amazing pick for an entry into flight sims.

A legacy flight simulator. Used by Lockheed Martin for their Prepar3d simulator. (A massive upgrade)

FSX has a charm that only older software has. It is great for messing around with and is still used by virtual airlines as it is so easy to get aircraft for. You can connect to IVAO and Vatsim if you are wanting to fly online.

The program is throttled to only one core of your CPU and that sadly makes it slower than it could be. But its customisability is what keeps it going.

The benefit of being out for a long time is that a huge amount of freeware and payware that is available.

The freeware is massive. Flight sim.com simviation and rikoooo.com offer some decent freeware.

The payware sadly is usually expensive even though this simulator has been out for decades. Plane nerds must justify it for some reason.

How does it compare to real aircraft.

Sadly most of the default aircraft do not simulate real world systems. As well as they could. The startup for a Boeing 737 for instance has a few switches missing. The IRS is none existant and there is no programable FNC. You will have to program the flight from the menu and magically connect to GPS to fly the aircraft.

Solutions.
Payware and freeware is a way to get accurate systems and startups with more working Switches. If you want to fly more realistically. A great sim, upgradeable but dated.
It is a good basis for flying with a great selection of airports that can work with
