Was working fine until i upgraded my PC from windows 10 to windows 11 then I have had no end of issues trying to launch beyond start screen very frustrating as otherwise this is a great flight simulator

takes a bite of learning but that,s the great thing about playing these game it learning some thing new .love it .world of its own gameing

I know, it's the classic that me myself's been playing since childhood. But man is it UNSTABLE! It crashes(FSX crashes, not the plane it simulates) so often that it's so upsetting that your effort just went poof so often. I don't know it's steam editions problem or what. I was playing original FSX on a laptop back then and the graphic all screw up but I can still play! Nah it's not worth it anymore.

The graphics are kinda reminding me of FlightFear (FGFS), typical 2000s game. There are many free high quality mods on the internet. It only bothers me that sometimes when im using ATC a lot, like during landing, i can't interact with anything anymore. then the game freezes and crashes. It's still a great game overall, if it's on sale I'd recommend buying it. Controls are a bit weird at first but after configuring and getting used to them, they're just fine. It detected my yoke and joystick right away>

I would recommend running from Microsoft and any other thing Bill Gates has had his hands on.

I would say that this is a very solid simulator. Almost any computer should be able to run this game. It is a nice step towards getting FS 2024 or 2025. This game has given me the motivation to get my PPL which is a very big step. Now because of this game, I am majoring in Aerospace Engineering and I am in the process of getting my PPL. I would say highly recommended for even begginers!

cool bad graphics though

This is probably my favorite version of the Microsoft Flight Sim series. I started playing this one on a little laptop with the graphics set super low and now play it on a proper PC to experience the full range of graphics. I do recommend that you use the recommended graphics settings for this game and not just the minimum requirements so you can get more out of it. I have been playing the MS Flight Sim games for years and so far they have not failed to deliver a lovely game!

Not worth it in 2025, especially not the steam edition. If you're considering it get X-Plane 11 instead, which is running well on 11 years old hardware for me.

A very cheap high quality simulator for those with a budget PC. Runs extremely smoothly on my 6 year old office desktop

Nostalgic. Awe-inspiring. . . and brings out the pilot-wannabees in some of us! Since i first installed FSX Deluxe via 2 DVDs and the FSX Acceleration Pack DVD way back in 2007, i instantly fell in-love! Got hooked and I downloaded lots of Add-Ons and Expansions like Ultimate Terrain X's and Airport Liveries, Jets like the F-15 and F-16, i knew this is one-of-a-kind. A "treasure-game" to keep. Time flies so fast then sadness struck as I wasn't or couldn't install the same game when i updated to Windows 10 Pro for Workstations from Windows 7. I became busy due to the realities of life. Fast-forward a couple of days ago, hesitant and skeptical as I purchased this FSX from Steam, now "Steam-Edition", Lo and behold!, I couldn't be more grateful! This made me complete again as it flawlessly work on my i7-NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti-16 Gig RAM Combo PC set-up! I also purchased and installed some important DLCs and i'm so genuinely happy again! It only proves Microsoft Flight Simulator X, no matter how old and ancient it is now, will always be near and dear to my heart. Thank you Steam and more power! :-)

The 7.9 hours is a lie. This game won't boot. Waste of $25. Never got to play 5 minutes. Last f*cking MicroShit software I'll ever buy.

If you can get this on sale it is an amazing pick for an entry into flight sims.

A legacy flight simulator. Used by Lockheed Martin for their Prepar3d simulator. (A massive upgrade)

FSX has a charm that only older software has. It is great for messing around with and is still used by virtual airlines as it is so easy to get aircraft for. You can connect to IVAO and Vatsim if you are wanting to fly online.

The program is throttled to only one core of your CPU and that sadly makes it slower than it could be. But its customisability is what keeps it going.

The benefit of being out for a long time is that a huge amount of freeware and payware that is available.

The freeware is massive. Flight sim.com simviation and rikoooo.com offer some decent freeware.

The payware sadly is usually expensive even though this simulator has been out for decades. Plane nerds must justify it for some reason.

How does it compare to real aircraft.

Sadly most of the default aircraft do not simulate real world systems. As well as they could. The startup for a Boeing 737 for instance has a few switches missing. The IRS is none existant and there is no programable FNC. You will have to program the flight from the menu and magically connect to GPS to fly the aircraft.

Solutions.
Payware and freeware is a way to get accurate systems and startups with more working Switches. If you want to fly more realistically. A great sim, upgradeable but dated.

I know the problem is most likely in the chair but I couldn't even get the aircraft off the ground.

I found it a horrible version of the game. Old menus and little support for the controller. It is just a bad experience versus the MS Flight Simulator on Xbox. Don't think you are getting the same thing with this game from Steam.

Still good even after 20 years from its launch.
The experience is ok even without modern fancy graphics cards.
Many DLC (to be payed or free on the web) available.

Great Game !! Been flying it since 2000, Flying all over the digital world,.it seem endless in self made adventures, Completed all missions few times! What a fun experience using the joy stick also.

It takes a bit of learning, but I really do love flying around in MSFS X. Thankfully it'll run well on basically any modern PC too.

I like this flight simulator. I want to upgrade but Microsoft wants a lot of money.

Because all males need to know how to fly and land a plane in case of an emergency so they can safely land whatever plane they're on on whatever airport they have to land on, and save everyone. Its your duty!

Frustrating overall.
The launcher is hard to read on high-res screens.
Unlike in MSFS 2020, pulling the mixture control knob only changes the % display without moving the knob.
Sometimes I can’t look down until I restart.

Game is fun, but certain aspects don't work properly, even on a new laptop with an upgraded graphics card. Certain missions crash when you play them, and I've had a few IFR flight plans loaded that causes the game to crash halfway through the flight. Overall it's fun, but definitely buggy.

I like to pretend I can fly things. It's also fun to fly over "where I live". It's not rendered very well, but I have a monkey brain and I can't control these planes for crap.

It's a good game because the helicopters and small planes I fly on it are realistic -based on my own real world experience flying Cessna 172. It is an older game I play on an older backup computer I use for flying until acquiring an new computer to use MS flight sim 2024 for the latest graphic scenery details. This version 2013 has limited graphics but has helped me to learn to fly helicopters. By the time I get the 2024 game I might be able to fly some advanced challenges. Nevertheless, this 2013 is still highly valued, as is Steam support!

Really good flight simulator, you're not going to get amazing graphics compared to the new ones but all the aircraft work, missions are enjoyable, and it'll run on pretty much any modern computer.
