So, this is a pure arcade rail shooter just like something you'd play on an actual arcade machine in a mall or an amusement park. Most of the negative comments are probably from people who aren't familiar with this type of game and can't separate it from an FPS.
It's really straight forward and there are different play settings (urban, support heli, support heavy MG, rural, cave). You shoot bad guys popping up before they shoot you. You shoot the red thing that go boom. You shoot the ammo and health to get... ammo and health. Maybe you don't shoot too many allies maybe you do, that's between you and yourself.
The music is fine, the sounds are okay but a bit muffled, especially for the weapons. They lack some puch, so does the handling. It feels like you're holding a fixed gun on an arcade machine, which isn't fun on a PC game. There's no recoil and it's very stiff.
The voices are fine as well but during the gameplay it's a bit cartoonish, which is fine for a pure arcade product especially since it's not because the recording or acting is bad.
On a technical side, it's pretty stable and I haven't had any issue, bug or crash whatsoever and the game looks nice enough and very detailed.
You can create user profiles for different players.
There are some small issues though. The controls can't be modified and you have to set your keyboard to qwerty because there are a few quicktime events (only for bonus points).
Bloom is way overbearing and makes it difficult to see at times but this can be seen as some needed added difficulty. The game isn't challenging nor long. The first time around takes a bit less than 90min and with veteran mode, less than 3.5h. You need to power through the easy mode to unlock the normal mode which is much more entertaining. It's not even enough game time to unlock all trading cards drops...
There are several weapons but you can't just pick one, you need to reset the bonus you have unlocked and then select the weapon you want and all the other bonuses. Playing easy + normal at least once will give enough points to unlock everything.
There is a shooting range but it's not really fun, a bit overwhelming without clear aim except shooting randomly for 30s. In that regard the other game "Reload" from the same guys is much better. It's very much a play with friend thing and is much more replayable.
That's the last downside of this game, there is really no reason to replay it unless you're a massive fan or need to 100% the achievements. This might be different if you manage to play it with a wiimore or something alike on a huge screen (it's doable according to the forum).
Overall, it's totally fine on sale with the 2 others from the same team. However this one is much better than "shattered spear". A lot.
Maybe less so at full price unless you understand what an arcade rail shooter is and actually like that a lot...on a "tiny" screen with mouse and keyboard. I can't even imagine this is any fun with a gamepad. If it does indeed work with a wiimote then it's totally fine but I don't have time to try.

Virtua Cop was released in 1996 on the PC, and it's far superior in gameplay compared to this. There's no feedback when you're shooting or when the characters are hit. Everything feels slow when you’re supposed to be in an intense firefight. It doesn’t feel like you are shooting at enemy targets, it feels like you are just clicking on them to make them fall down. I bought the three titles, and this was the first one I played for a dollar. I personally wouldn’t recommend this. I would skip it and just download Virtua Cop 1 and 2, which you can find for free since they are abandonware, instead of playing this.
