yh i guess its fun?
The inability to save when and where you want doesn't add anything to the game, and in fact may ensure you lose significant chunks of progress. Why? What is so wrong with providing that convenience to the player, in case they have to do something else with their limited free time?
I got the game on sale for $1 during the winter sale so I won't refund, as that would be insanely petty, especially for an indie title. Too bad, looks like the game could be interesting.
Amazed I'd never heard of this but glad I did. Quite the lustrous gem and absolutely worth the $1 I got it for holy hell.
Fun little game. I especially liked the puzzles and boss fights. A bit janky and confusing at times but an overall charming
and nostalgic experience.
Game keeps crashing during the tutorial section, there's no autosave and no place to save before or during the tutorial. After the third time the game crashed I am tired of trying.
Tactical Sci-Fi Action : pretty good. Huge worlds, with mystery, challanges and choices.
Hesitant to say I recommend this one... but I enjoyed most of the time I had with it. Consider this an "ehhhhhhhh...." from me. Get it on sale and check it out yourself.
Positives:
- Hard to describe, but it's a basic immersive sim game with solid stealth elements. There are some nice gameplay details I enjoyed. The gunplay is quite fun.
- The home base and how you get paid is quite comfy and enjoyable.
- The Worlds (2016) themselves are fun to explore and interact with.
- PS2 type visuals and atmosphere.
- Runs well (once set up.)
Negatives:
- The game has a lives system. It's very inconsistent. You use up a life to load from a checkpoint. But if your last checkpoint was a save point, you still use a life, and have to restart the game to load the game without using up a life.
- Absolutely horrible platforming. You'll die instantly if you fall off into the void and this'll use up a lot of your lives. 95% of my deaths in this game were falling like that. I do like the death cutscene of your character falling though. Also, unkillable entities show up during one of these and they can pull you a little bit and make you miss jumps. Very, VERY, frustrating.
- Some of the puzzles are obtuse and hard to solve.
- I can't tell what's intentional and what's a glitch. One time my target ran away from me because i had a gun out, ran out of the building. Never saw him again, but because I saved afterwards (Good practice, with that lives system) I think I might have softlocked myself. Either idiotproof the game, or let me save/load whenever. You only get one save slot by the way.
If you're on Linux, you need to run the game once, then set "shaders = 0" in worlds.cfg.
