Closest thing to Road R@sh. I was a little offset by the mundane tracks and racing on rooftops which seemed pretty dumb. Overall I extremely enjoy this game.

How are you supposed to upgrade if you can't retain points?

I don't think I'd enjoy playing this solo. However, I went through the campaign with 2-3 player couch co-op and it was a blast.

Not gonna lie, it's a fun little game that gets quite repetitive quite fast... but there's a lot of characters with different mechanics and shenanigans that can keep you from feeling bored! Also being honest, it's not a game you'll play for hours and hours, maybe an hour now, then another tomorrow or later, otherwise it gets old really fast.

But overall, it's not a bad game I'd say, good to kill some time (and maybe get a bit annoyed sometimes, some fast enemy weapons can be quite unforgiving)... I recommend it when on sale!

Opening

For gamers of the millennium, Road Rash, a 1991 game, undoubtedly carries countless memories. Combining action and racing, two seemingly unrelated elements, Road Rash brings players unimaginable fun. Unfortunately, after the release of the last work in the series, Road Rash: Jailbreak, in 2000, this classic series, which is of great importance to players, seems to have been forgotten by Electronic Arts. After the release of two spiritual sequels to Road Rash in 2017-Road Redemption and Road Rage, similar games completely disappeared from the market. As the most outstanding spiritual sequel, Road Redemption further expands the gameplay, but there are still plenty of shortcomings.

Strength 

The player in Road Redemption needs to drive motorcycles to speed in various scenes ranging from roads, ice fields, and high-rise buildings to ruins. The only difference from racing games including Road Rash is that players can, and are even encouraged to kill their opponents to maintain their advantage permanently. In addition to racing opponents, various hostile opponents, police, and friendly forces will join the battle. A variety of weapons such as sticks, swords, guns, grappling hooks, explosives, grenades, and a variety of scene mechanisms, would also make this illegal road race even more chaotic. Characters with different skills in each game all have their own abilities and can bring a new gaming experience for players. The standout heavy metal rock style soundtrack also adds more passion to the exciting racing and slashing.

Weakness 

The campaign mode of Road Redemption consists of a light plot, roguelike, and many repetitive levels. Once you die, you will have to start from scratch. The plot is exceptionally old-fashioned and boring, and the core roguelike content does not provide players with diverse plastic gameplay but instead focuses on the acquisition and recovery of in-game resources, which cannot support players' long-term play. Most of the enemies in the game have a strong desire to attack the player and will constantly try to cut off and interfere. Players will need to balance fighting and even aiming and shooting while driving at high speed. In addition, the driving feel of the vehicles in Road Redemption is not very good, which poses a barrier to entry for new players. Enemies in a race will always gain some wake acceleration when they are at a disadvantage, and this is often enough to catch up to the player, making the racing strategy of killing the opponent often more advantageous.

The actual modeling and scenes of the game seem a bit rough nowadays, especially compared with the trailer. The seemingly diverse scenes are essentially the same, and the enemy types and even the in-game upgrade options are quite narrow. There are also many bugs in Road Redemption in the collision volume judgment between characters and scenes, it is easy for players to get stuck in some scenes that seem to have no obstacles. After completing the campaign mode, Campaign+ and Campaign++ merely add more levels, increase the enemy's health and desire to attack, and make the scene more chaotic, which effectively makes it challenging to bring refreshments to players. Aside from discounts, Road Redemption has always had very few players online, which has made the online mode largely unavailable.

Conclusion

Whether in sales, gameplay, or reputation, Road Redemption is far superior to Road Rage, which makes it the well-deserved, most excellent "spiritual sequel" of Road Rash. Despite this, the core of this game is very different from Road Rash. Various weapons fights and mild roguelike game content are the core of Road Redemption, while racing has become an auxiliary means to add fun. This inherent gap may disappoint fans who came here for the spiritual sequel of Road Rash.

Overall, Road Redemption is hard to get started with, and can fully bring fun to players in the initial period. However, its core is highly monotonous, with too high a repetition rate, old-fashioned and boring plots, and a roguelike design that cannot bring freshness, which all doom it to be nothing more than a throwaway game.

Kind of a weird game to be honest. The first 8 hours are incredibly fun, and gave me nostalgia for arcade racing games which is impressive because I can count on a hand and a half how many times I've played in an arcade, but after that it just feels like constant grinding. Once you've learned how the enemies fight and get all the first perks it gets as dull as the first few hours are fun. I was mostly joking about the arcade stuff but this game feels like it was designed to eat quarters, and that's probably the best mindset to take to it; play for an hour or two, once or twice a week, just like a real arcade machine.

This game is heavenly annoying i cant drive for 3 seconds without getting jumped by 50 bikers im happy this game died

This game does not want you to win. When you slow down, the opponent doesn't; if you speed up, the opponent does so too. Incoming cars out of nowhere. But the most annoying part is I CANNOT GET TO TARGETS, THEY RIDE WITH THE EXACT SAME SPEED AS ME. Seriously, I wouldn't recommend. Rage bait material. At least make some options to make it easier.

This is a great game. If you liked Road Rash back in the day, then you'll love this. If you like Mad Max, then you'll love this. If you like going fast while listening to screeching speed metal, then you'll love this. If you like Mario Kart but wish it had experience points, unlockable weapons and skills, and decapitations, then you'll love this. If you like exploding police cars, grenade launchers, cyborg biker bosses with jump jets and nitro boosters, kicking people sideways @ 120 mpg and seeing them careen into oncoming traffic, and cars randomly falling out of the sky as you jump a motorcyle across skyscrapers, then you'll love this.

I have been wanting to play the older Road Rash games... this is a bit different, but that's okay! It is like they took those and updated them as well as added a bunch of extras (I did spring for the DLC also). The rogue like elements are an interesting touch, and may not be your cup of tea, but it keeps t from being too close to the original games.

Multiplayer doesn't work at all. Fun game if you only want to play singleplayer. Apparently the devs have completely abandoned this game due to working on their new game.

The negative reviews come from a misunderstanding of what this game really is. It’s not a racing game with killing as a side feature. No! It’s a pure roguelike focused on killing other bikers, where the goal is to reach the finish line as fast as possible. Brutal, hilarious, and highly addictive. I regret not buying it sooner.

Surprisingly, it plays very well with keyboard and mouse, even though the default controls are clearly designed for a gamepad.

The developers claim that they were inspired by Road Rash when creating the game, but I think that played a cruel joke on them and pissed off a lot of people. The game doesn’t resemble Road Rash at all.

Let’s start with the fact that Road Redemption is much more unrealistic and over-the-top than Road Rash: riding on rooftops, hallucinogenic zones where cars fall from the sky (which, for some reason, you can crash into as if they’re real), a biker gang equipped with high-tech armor reminiscent of the Brotherhood of Steel, and so on.

There’s a dumb storyline consisting of a couple of paragraphs, but it would’ve been better if it wasn’t there at all.

The game has no physics whatsoever. Even Road Rash had more realistic physics—you could at least fall off your bike while taking a sharp turn. Not here.

The graphics are your typical blurry mess made with Unity.

There’s a large selection of bikes and riders with various bonuses. But you can’t really compare the bikes, since their stats are shown as bar charts, and the only way to compare them is by holding a ruler up to the screen. Not that you’ll need to, since the starting bike is one of the best in the game—at least until you’ve beaten it ten times and unlocked the final bike with maxed-out stats.

The voice acting was enjoyable.
The addition of firearms and explosives makes things more fun and chaotic.
The roguelite progression adds replayability, and you’re always tempted to try out new upgrades.

Overall, if you take the game for what it is and don’t expect it to be a modern Road Rash, you can enjoy the on-screen madness. But I’d only recommend buying it on sale. 6/10

Runs well on the Deck.

The amount of gameplay variety does not support the amount of grinding you need. The progression is bad and monotonous. It's just a matter of looking at the achievements and how it's less than 30% of the people that got to the second level. Game's fun for an hour, but beyond that there's nothing here worthwhile sticking around for.

I understand why people like this game. It's a fun modern take on Road Rash. It's funny. It gives no F***s about things like physics and it loves explosions.

But the campaign adds unneeded rogue-lite elements that demand A LOT of grinding to to start over at a high enough level to be able to survive just a few more levels makes an already mercilessly challenging game unreasonably punishing.

This wouldn't be so bad if you were rewarded more for your efforts. Let's say if instead of losing 25% of your health for not completing the quest in a specific mission. You could gain more money and XP for staying near the back of the back and racking up kills. Then if your rider gets knocked 100 feet into the air and takes 15 seconds to finally land and another 5 seconds to get your place reset and you have a good laugh. But no. You NEED to finish in that 3rd place or better, beat that boss (which I'm okay with), or...whatever one of the other goals are which brings me to.

There's only a few general missions per race. Finish in the top 3, take out a certain amount of enemies, and beat the boss. It's boring and repetitive and far too much emphasis is put on it.

I'd be fine with not doing the campaign and just doing quick race or arcade mode if the campaign wasn't required to unlock all the bikes and riders. It's just a lot of missed potential. Maybe Road Redemption 2 can fix these problems. I really like brawling on backs and cutting guys heads off.

If you played Road Rash way back in the day, or if you enjoy rogue-like driving and battling games, don't miss this on sale. It's an engaging and fun arcade-style banger.

I haven't played much of Road Rash, which this game was inspired by, but it does bring back some nostalgia.

I understand why others wish there were check points, sometimes I just wanna stop a race and do something else, but nope gotta spend up to an hour Campaign session.

Some races can be frustrating and after a few races the game becomes redundant even with different races.

I like it. Love it even. But it could have been a lot better if real effort was put into format and storyline.

Cool game, but for how long it's been being made there's too many missing elements to recommend. No campaign co-op. No free for all multiplayer. Got grappling-hooked into a mountain and was just stuck like that. I really wanted to like this game.

True successor to Road Rash

No way to get it in English. I have tried to play this game multiple times over the years and it is always something. Don't waist your time. You can't remap controller controls either. Why not make profiles that you can choose from? The game has only been out for 8 years...

Spiritual successor to Road Rash with some Mad Max feel. You gain XP for which you unlock new upgrades, bikes and characters. If you die you have to start from the beginning but you still keep those XPs. Gameplay is super fun and addicting. I recommend!

A very fun but hard game. The combat will need some time to get good at. But ones you get good at the combat this game is so much fun. Smacking dudes in the face and watching them fall off their bike is so satisfying plus your encouraged to kill people anyway. Cause killing people is how you heal and earn money to buy upgrades and also nitro and crit charge to deal a more powerful attack that cant be blocked or you clould use the crit charge to make your kick stronger. Point is the combat is very good and satisfying. In my opinion this game is WORTH the price.

10% racing 90% fighting. so still a far cry of what Road Rash experience, despite this game's goal is to become its successor. Control is so slippery and not enjoyable to even assisting your maneuver for combat heavy racing.

This game is super fun and also brings back some good vibes and memories for those that are fans of bike racing games, specially for Road Rash players.

Like other people have said if you liked road rash you will like this game its basically a modern day version of it id recommend this game it, the only bad things i can say is it can get boring after a while and the graphics arnt super great but there not bad either i wouldnt play this for longer periods of time but for 1-2 hours time will fly by, if you played with other people would be better the online parts doesnt have enough people or no one playing it or something to do with severs dunno but id consider this game single player/ couch co-op and it runs 100% fine on my kinda potato pc no glitches or bugs so far
