Last of the Anomaly series, in this game you play as the aliens defending their world. Decent enough. Wait for discount.
ive been trying to get into tower defense games again: this game is everything i was looking for and more.
not only is it different than most tower defense games, but it teaches you things you might not ever otherwise think of. i never even conisdered 'tower macro' could be a thing, and now i know two seperate ways to impelment it without ever having to be told. hard mode is perfectly balenced, and every time i thought the game was about to be unfair, unfun or incomprehensible, i was emphatically proven wrong.
if you have trouble with tower defense games: play this game
if you like tower defense games: play this game
if you like games in general: you wont be disappointed
Anomaly Defenders
Has a total of 5 trading cards.
Fun and tough (at higher difficulty) tower defense in the Anomaly universe. Decent tower variety and playing maps again is interesting as the map itself changes as well as increasing difficulty of enemies. Higher difficulties definitely require a extensive strategy and micromanagement of the special abilities, but make winning all the more worth it. Recommended!
Ok.
Finished the game in normal and it took about 16 hours. On the positive side, the game installation is light and it runs well. The UI is intuitive and if you like tower defence games, you will feel right at home. The difficulty felt just right and in some parts towards the end, the game was quite challenging but never frustrating.
As much as I enjoyed it, there are a couple of things I wish the game offered. Firstly, the game wants you to play in certain pre-set ways as there aren't enough tower placements and some towers take just too much space. This means play to play, you will pretty much do the same thing with small variations here and there. This really does hamper the game's replayability. I don't think I would bother playing this again in hard mode.
Secondly, the narrative although not important at all, is nonsensical. Why would the hero human commander assist the alien invaders? It didn't make any sense at all - it would have much better to have an alien commander waking up from slumber or something. But I'm a theatre kid so I point at stuff no one will care.
Thirdly, the initial flight path disappears too quick - I have to keep restarting the map to memorise where the flight paths were. There was this particularly huge map this was a real pain in the butt - I wish it stayed longer until the enemies appear.
Overall, very satisfied and it became the third most played game in 2024 for me according to Steam. So yeah, it's cheap and fun, buy the game
Anomaly Defenders, unlike the rest of the series is a traditional tower defense game with simple yet engaging mechanics.
Each level requires you to strategise and micro manage resources and units.
As an almost newcomer to the genre, i thoroughly enjoyed my time with Anomaly Defenders. Its definitely worth checking out.
Loosely based in the Anomaly Warzone Earth universe from the other two games, this one is a more traditional tower defense game, rather than squad-based tower offense which made the others unique.
Apparently it was originally made for iPad, which is why the advisor talks about tapping on things rather than clicking on them, and also explains the lack of keyboard support for anything. You may get a little RSI from dragging around the battlefield and rapid-firing through menus for a few hours.
Despite that, it's a solid strategy game with a resource-based economy (both from kills and from harvesting). Unlike other TD games that sometimes provide extra commander abilities to be used on a specific location, often with cooldowns, the abilities in this one always involve the towers themselves, and the energy is something you manage by collecting energy balls from destroyed units, with varying amounts based on the unit type and veterancy level. Balancing energy economy becomes crucial later in the game.
Beating the whole game on Hard was a challenge, but nothing too bad for anybody who pays attention to each tower and enemy unit's strengths and weaknesses.
Also, the soundtrack is kick-ass. I wish it was longer. I say give it a try!
Competent tower defence game with nice interactions between resource gathering, strategic placement and energy management. However, the setting is a bit too drab and the levels are a bit too slow and this adds up to a less-than-fun experience.
A little boring
