10/10 point and click adventure, wish this genre wasn't so unpopular these days. If you grew up with Sierra and/or Lucasarts point and clicks, you'll likely enjoy this one.
The art style is consistent and fantastic, the puzzles are fair and I rarely had to look up hints online, minigames are skippable (they're not bad though, I really enjoyed most of them), and the story was far more engaging than I would've ever expected. (Just try not to get hung up on how much of a jerk the main character is, its a running gag how careless and selfish he is, but he'll grow on you like foot fungus though).
My only warning would be to NEVER use the 'Continue' option from the main menu, and always just load your save files directly. Continue seemed to break the developer commentaries and cause a host of other bugs.
Messy, long, animations are not fluid at all, not really funny, tips from puzzle are from wrongs chapters...
Yes
Very cool game. unfortunaly a little too hard.
de ponia
Trial and error clicking on random things to discover a non-sense action to advance. No, thank you.
Minigames and difficult puzzles with silly outcomes.
Really disappointed due to the pigeons bug in the post office that locked my further game walkthrough completely. The solution suggested by developers - download a save file from their official site even if there are no save files for the recent game version. Buy only if you are ready for such things.
Interesting puzzles, nice graphics, good music and sound. Story is not that interesting including dialogs and jokes.
An adventure game that I enjoyed up until the awful ending that ruins it completely.
It was so bad players asked to change it, and the devs doubled-down.
This is the game that made me put Deadalic Entertainment on ignore.
Riddled with gamebreaking bugs. I thought it was just a small fraction of players but each and every review points to gamebreaking bugs. Turns out I am not the only one. And everyone seems to have different gamebreaking bugs.
A google fix is supposed to be downloading a savefile from them: I'm not doing that for the 2000 bugs this game might have; i would not even know why a savefile would fix for example my gamebreaking bug.
Great opportunity to replay the trilogy and still experience some new things, or play it for the first time, without having to manually switch between games. The main new things, the dev commentary, does feel like it fits the Deponia vibe, and the technical info about the creation process is just a small part of goofing around, and a bunch of singing! Also, glad they added a new collectibles for the first Deponia, however, do wish they took the chance to fix some minor issues especially in Chaos on Deponia, and also that you could go back to the chapter from previous Deponia games in the questlog, just so you can look back more fully on the whole journey as you progress.
a master piece
The games unfortunately have some serious game-breaking bugs which it will stuck you to continue your adventure (the mine car maze minigame was broken to me), and the only solution is.... to download a save from the Daedalic support site, which it is better than nothing, but still annoying to do every time you have issues.
Point and click with excellent humour, funny characters and lots of stupid yet reasonable solutions.
10/10 can't recommend it enough.
I'm unable to complete the first chapter due to a game breaking bug with the pigeons not appearing as intended. According to various forums the only fixes are 1.) replay the entire chapter or 2.) download a save file. These two fixes aren't even guaranteed. As far as i know the single episodes on Steam works fine but this "Complete Edition" is buggy. Since i don't own the single episodes as they're listed as seperate games i'm stuck with this one. As of 2024 Daedalic still hasn't fixed this bug yet despite it being reported in 2016. Another huge bug is the items not being selected instantly when clicking. I often have to click on them multiple times to register which feels clunky and slow. I know a lot of work as been put into the Deponia series but i'm not completing it before these bugs are fixed.
Do NOT buy!
Whle the game itself is theoretically pretty good, it is riddled with game-breaking bugs, that make it impossible to complete the game for many users. The forum is full of people, who encountered these bugs and I am among them. These bugs have been known to the developers for almost 10 years but they never fixed them. Their "solution" was to provide savegame files that skip these sections. And there are multiple of those.
There will never be a fix for them, because the developer has gone bankrupt due to screwing up "Gollum".
Title: "Who Knew Saving the World Could Be This... Messy?"
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Review:
Ah, Deponia: The Complete Journey, a classic tale of romance, adventure, and an unrepentant slob who thinks he’s saving the world (mostly from himself). If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you mix a genius, a wrecking ball, and a complete disregard for personal hygiene, Rufus is your answer.
This game is like if you took your most uncooperative friend, threw him into a scrapyard, and told him to be a hero. The result? Chaos. And laughter. And maybe the occasional urge to reach through the screen and shake him.
Despite Rufus's many... unique qualities, there's something endearing about watching him stumble through a mountain of poor life choices and questionable logic puzzles. You’ll laugh, you’ll groan, you’ll shout “Rufus, NO!” more times than you can count. But you’ll have a blast doing it.
Pros:
Hilarious Characters: Rufus might be a disaster, but he’s a fun disaster. The characters are all quirky and memorable.
Gorgeous Art: For a game set in literal trash, the scenery’s shockingly beautiful. Who knew a junkyard could be so scenic?
Engaging Storyline: A three-part saga with twists, turns, and enough oddball dialogue to keep you entertained for hours.
Fun Puzzles: If you like classic point-and-click puzzles with a bit of humor, this game delivers in spades.
Cons:
Rufus is... an Acquired Taste: He’s not your typical hero. He’s more like the guy who’d “accidentally” eat all your snacks and blame it on the dog.
Occasional Frustration: Some puzzles are so tricky they feel like a test for a Mensa membership.
Not for the Easily Annoyed: Rufus is loveable in small doses; extended play sessions might require a tolerance break.
Overall:
If you’re looking for a traditional hero's journey, Deponia isn’t it. But if you’re up for a chaotic, laugh-out-loud trip with a charmingly reckless protagonist, buckle up. It's a rough ride, but worth every scrap.
No idea how good it is in English but if you're German it's 100% recommended. (Or just use subtitles ig)
Old style point&click game, the puzzles are sometimes not very obvious and I have used walkthrough several times (typical problem of the games of this type). Still, I have enjoyed it, so will recommend
nice point and click game that has many funny moments. the game isn't too hard but definitely not easy
The music and art are very well made, the setting is interesting, and the voice acting is decent. And that's about where my praise ends. I played through the first one and that was all I could take before saying "fuck this noise!" and just checked YouTube for the rest of it. The main character is a sexist, racist, self-congratulating pig who has so few redeeming qualities if I didn't know any better, I'd swear he was the back-up for the actual main character. The deuteragonist, if you can even call her that, is 9 parts plot device to 1 part character. The puzzles are either insultingly easy or obstinately complicated in a way that makes you scream "how the Hell would I even guess that?", the humour is crass and vile in none of the entertaining ways, the villains aren't especially compelling, and everyone else populating the game is their own flavour of awful meaning you can't even enjoy when the main guy gets hoisted on his own petard.
I really can not fathom why anyone likes this pathetic excuse for a game series, let alone how it manages to maintain a "very positive" rating. Y'all need better standards.
quirky indie game same makers did Edna and Harvey solid games i love the characters they come up with and all the side commentaries
Like Minecraft, just with trash and romance.
I love the Deponia series, I really do. It still holds up 10 years later, in saying that, The Complete Journey for some reason has many game-breaking bugs. The individual games still work fine and are probably more worth buying individually than this compilation of the first three games, Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia. They have a fourth game Deponia Doomsday that's not a part of the compilation anyway.
Why I love these games:
They're funny
Our main character is not a usual hero, in fact it's fun to dislike him
The puzzles are wacky and enjoyable
The games are beautiful
They deserve a better chance than this.
Deponia
Beautiful art. Interesting setting. Cool characters. The main character ruins it all by being an obnoxious, horndog, sexist asshole. And that can be an interesting character, maybe he learns, betters himself and rights his life, but there's nothing likeable about him, he's just a ****head. Look at the first video on steam, he finds the girl sleeping in her pod and he's like pu***y!" and leers at her with a stupid grin, the next shot is him grabbing her ass and making faces at a captain behind her in a "wish this was you don't you?" way. He is not likable, and despite wanting a point and click with beautiful art like this, i couldn't complete the game due to hating him so much. He's the main character, you're not gonna get away from him or be able to ignore him.
It's a shame because it's a beautiful game with fun and funny if sometimes obtuse puzzles.
Awesome story and epic point and click adventure!
